The bunk beds are twin size and they kept a broom and pad inside for cleanup. The heater worked great, it kept the cabin very toasty. The cafeteria was close to the dining hall and food was delicious! They gave adults double servings and at almost every meal time, there were enough for seconds for the kids. The boys and girls restrooms were not close to eachother. There were a total of 8 or 9 showers and bathroom stalls. The water pressure and temperture was great. Through out the day you can hear wild turkeys and see them on the trees especially in the morning and I loved it! I loved hearing gobble gobble every morning. Close by there were cows, and on the hikes you can see them. There is an on site health center, learning center and marine center with tons of things to see and do. During recess, the kids were able to play volleyball, basketball, soccer, tetherball and there was a even a traverse wall. The hikes here were great. During the hikes kids could see creeks, bugs, and sometimes even small mammals. There is also poison oak and ticks so it important to pay attention. The best part of camp keep was the staff. The naturalists were so awesome. The kids loved them. Personally, they were the best part! They were so friendly and knowledgeable, and made everything fun even if it was cold. Camp keep is an experience every kid should have and it's an honor to be able to return as a counselor!

In fact, the person on staff was a NOAA employee and part of the 15-person team that manages the enormous Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. If you don't know what that is, you can watch Episode 4 of Netflix docuseries "Our Great National Parks". Sophia was amazingly informative when we visited. She was highly knowledgeable and answered our litany of questions about the national marine sanctuary.

Working with John Kemple was one of the worst professional experiences of my life. I paid him over…read more$80K and have never been treated with such utter disrespect in my life. He completely disregarded a specific request not to make changes to my trailer w/o my consent, he overcharged me $2K based on our prior agreement/contract & has not refunded the blatant overcharge (I may take him to small claims), and his welding/fabrication work broke twice in two different places. When I contacted him recently about the second failure -- which would have taken him maybe an hour to repair -- he first said he "didn't want to mess with it" - then when I pressed him on warranty on his work he literally screamed and cussed at me. I've been ignored, cheated, intimidated and raged at by this man whom I paid over $80K to. It's unbelievable. I would sooner travel to another state at my own expense rather than go near or work with him again. My advice: Read between the lines of the upfront charm & promises and get multiple references before considering working with him.

Every year towards the end of the months of April and October, Art In The Park is held in downtown City Park on 12th and Spring streets. The large grassy, oak studded park offers a nice venue for this free event. This affair draws artists from multiple states to showcase and promote their art forms. All artwork is available for purchase by attendees of the event. A plethora of art forms are available to enjoy - ceramics, clothing, fine jewelry, acrylic & oil paintings, photography, sculptures, glass works, metal artworks, woodworking, and much more. Parking is generally hard to find surrounding the park. Remember to check the parking signs as regulations have just changed again. Register your license plate with the parking kiosk as the first two hours are free and $1/hour thereafter. A few blocks in either direction, there are hundreds of free, non-metered spaces. The Art In The Park show at the downtown City Park is surrounded by a multitude of restaurants for a snack, lunch, or after-show dinner.

Katie was incredibly welcoming from the start and clearly very knowledgeable about both Paso Robles and the wine industry. One of the highlights was a private tasting with Ishka at Guyomar Winery. Hearing firsthand about how he farms his land and the pride he takes in his grapes made the experience feel personal and memorable. We also enjoyed a tasting and lunch at Justin Winery followed by a beautifully curated tasting at Copia where the personalized touches including a view of the vines and a sign acknowledging our anniversary made it extra special. Our final stop at McPrice Myers Winery was charming with great wines to round out the day. Throughout the tour Katie went above and beyond storing our wine purchases in an ice chest checking in during tastings to make sure everything was going well and keeping us on schedule without ever making us feel rushed. We would absolutely book this experience again. There is so much more to explore in Paso Robles and this tour was the perfect introduction.

Plenty of parking if you get there early, otherwise prepare to walk a bit. Incredible assortment of kites and people who fly them. The Morro Bay Kite Festival is the first real festival I've been to in a long, long time! Parking is free, entry is free. Kites fly high, and you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring your own and set it into the breezy skies. Professionals put on demo shows - a kind of kite ice-capades, where routines are performed to music that is piped over the beach on an impressively loud sound system. I had no idea there was a kite-flying "scene", but it is alive and well. Coffee, kettle corn, and hot dogs are for sale, all less than $5. The festival runs 2 days on the last weekend of April, and the weather this year was sunny and (fortunately) breezy. Kids were having a blast, and adults were relaxed, in that way that you are when your wallet isn't being raped and everyone is having a beautiful day. Put this on your calendar for next year!
