Since I live on the West Coast, A Billy Reid store was always a thing I would see on the Internet…read morethat I wanted to visit. I would see a few pieces at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdale's. And when I looked online I would see pictures of the brand's stores...charming, and beautifully designed. The Nashville store is so cute and it's on a really lovely tree lined street with older classic brick houses and just a few choice shops and cafes. When you walk in the store it's cozy but very airy and there's a women's and men's section. The salesman Joel was so nice and offered me a glass of wine or water and just let me basically look at what I wanted and then brought whatever I wanted to the dressing room. They weren't pushy at all and I bought the most beautiful shirt. You'll find pieces here that you won't find in the department stores that normally carry Billy Reid. The store is just a 20 minute walk from the stores at the Gulch. When I walked over I was wearing a jacket because it had been raining but it got quite warm (the humidity). So when I went in the store, which was so nice and cool, I took off my jacket. The salesman took my jacket and nicely hung it up on a hanger. When I purchased my shirt, he beautifully folded up my jacket and put it alongside my new shirt in the bag. So nice! Fantastic service and I will come back here in a heartbeat. Yes the price is a bit high but a lot of the pieces are made in Italy, and the quality is great....you'll find pieces here that you won't find in any of the department stores that carry Billy Reid.

In my last review, I wrote about Billy from a close distance but after becoming an "official"…read moreclient today, my perspective and respect for this brand is heightened. Besides my personal opinion, it should be duly noted that since my last review, Mr. Reid was bestowed the incredible honor of being awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. For those who don't follow the Fashion industry like it's their Fantasy Football league... this is a MASSIVE deal. Some say it's practically the Oscars or ahem, Super Bowl of this very particular industry. I am proud that a Southern designer (he hails from Alabama) conquered! With current collaborations with K-Swiss and J Crew, this brand is certainly on the rise! With that being said, Billy has just 6 retail locations so it is quite fantastic that we have one in the Hill Center. I was seduced my an up to 70% off sign when I was skipping around and couldn't pass up the stellar deals. My eyes were enticed by the Classic Peacoat in a natural shade which was regularly priced at $495 but I was able to snatch it up for $150! What. A. Deal. Consider that this piece will never go out of style so event at the original price tag, there is a ton of value for the amount of wear this classic will get! Billy's collection is one that will only get better with wear and tear. My love affair didn't just stop there. I couldn't help but notice a mighty fine pair of high waisted and wide bottomed black trousers referred to as the Heirloom ($265). Pants are always a tougher purchase for me especially due to my short inseam but with the assistance of a staffer who pinned my new pants and a $12 alteration fee (inexpensive), I am now the owner of a gorgeous pair of trousers that make me feel like a million bucks. Lastly, the staff were just a delight from the moment that I originally came in over the weekend to browse when they offered to put the peacoat on hold until I could make a choice on what color I preferred to the nice lad who was literally on the floor pinning my pants for alteration today. TIP: If you love Levis, Billy Reid will start carrying certain styles of this other classic at this location in just a couple of weeks!

I also love checking out thrift shops in different cities because each city has their own fashion. Their shoe selection here was incredible. That's where they shined for sure. A lot of the items I loved were a bit too big, but so it goes with thrifting. I loved that you're able to try on about 10 items in the fitting room (I pick up a lot when thrifting). And I was able to find a shirt for that evening. Do know that the pricing on a lot of items are closer to "new clothes" pricing like $20-30. I luckily found a shirt on sale for $15. A lot of the options were a bit outdated for my taste, but overall I had a great experience and found what I was looking for.

Souvenir items are in the front, with the shoes and boots further back from the street. This is a clever way to pull folks in with the knickknacks and then get them into some new boots! I did find a couple things here but you really have to look at the items closely as some items are not a very good value, though I did find a shot glass that had "Nashville" on it at a fair price. I don't have a lot of time when I go out shopping, and like most men, I don't like to go to a bunch of different stores searching for what I want. I wanted SAS ahoes, as a friend had told me abot how well made and comfortable they are. I spend a lot of time on concrete flooring and I walk a lot, so comfort and good fit, as well as durability and value, are all very important to me.I found that Ensor's SAS Shoes dealt exclusively with SAS and figured it would be a good place to check out. It was well worth the trip !! Neat, clean, old fashoined store furnished with family antiques and momentoes. it was like a trip back in time. And the service was absolutely fanfreakingtastic !!! I walked in and was given a friendly but professional greeting by Kay Ensor, one of two sisters who run the family-owned and operated business. I consider myself a pretty good judge of customer service, having spent 35 years in a customer service business. Kay invited me to look around, and see what I might like, and she would be happy to answer any questions I might have. I liked that approach, as I hate pushy, hovering customer service people. I soon found some shoes that I liked, and picked up the box to take it to the counter to pay for them. Now came the big surprise.as Kay asked if I was going to try them on. I never try them on, I know my size, was my answer to that. She then asked me when was the last time I had a fitting and foot measuring. I said, about 25 years ago when I had a pair of ice hockey skates custom made. Kay then proceeded to explain that feet never really stop growing, and I should really have checked the size first. I consented, and was slightly embarrassed to discover that I had been wearing the wrong size shoes for a long time. Kay quickly rectified that error on my part, and I left shortly after, wearing the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life. I have returned since that first visit, and now own several pairs of SAS shoes. To sum it all up, you can't go wrong at Ensor's SAS Shoes, they have an unbeatable combination of high quality product, made in the USA, tons of fitting experience, and unbeatable, world class customer service!
