It was the entryway of the home that it was in. Things that were weird? She asked me to pay upfront and wanted me to put the tip on there upfront. And I told her I would do the tip afterwards. She looks surprised. When she brought me to have the massage, she brought me downstairs into the basement. There was no light on the stairs, and when we got to the basement room, she had turned on a space heater so I could be worked on. Was it cold in there? Let's just say it wasn't warm. But it wasn't freezing either. I'm just thinking she really doesn't understand massage much. She did just a lot of hand rubbing like a person rubs your back when you're crying, you know? There was no needing of my muscles. And she did keep asking me if the pressure was OK. So I did appreciate that. It just was... Mid. Upon arriving to TCM, the door was propped open so I let myself in and waited on the couch. Finally at exactly 8 pm, someone came out from giving another client a massage. She didnt call me by name- she just said "come on!" And showed me to my room and closed the door. No name verification, no paperwork, no questions about my medical history. The massage table is covered with disposable paper like at a doctors office. There was a towel to cover yourself up with. No sheet or blanket I won't go into details of the massage- it wasn't horrible but it was different. The massage therapist didn't discuss anything...just got right down to business which included uncovering body parts that don't normally get uncovered during normal massages. Upon leaving, I left my tip in the room and yelled out "thank you!" so she would know I was leaving. She came out from behind a partition and accused me of not having a tip for her. Real professional. Overall, not a good or relaxing experience. I would be extremely surprised if this is even a legal business.

After just one session with Jen, I regained 75% mobility. That alone felt miraculous, but what impressed me even more was how deeply she cared about my healing. She took the time to ask questions about my pain and limitations, then went right to work using a blend of Eastern and Western techniques tailored specifically to me. Jen's approach is unlike any massage I've ever experienced. She even used her feet while holding onto a ceiling bar to apply the perfect pressure, which I did not know could be so effective! She explained that I would have some soreness after the release and that this was normal as my stiff muscles and tendons began to heal. She was absolutely right and the soreness was real but the "good kind," and after the first day my soreness went away and I had significantly more mobility. I've now returned for three weekly sessions, and each time I feel less sore after and gain more freedom of movement. I am now at 90% mobility after 3 sessions and will update further after my next appointments. What makes Jen exceptional is that she doesn't just repeat the same routine. She carefully identified the areas of my shoulder that need the most work each time. She's used a variety of techniques on me, including deep tissue, hot stones (love this one!) and the theragun. She even recognized that my other side was compensating, so she loosened that side as well. While physical therapy focuses on exercises and strengthening, and regular spa massages are usually about relaxation, Jen's therapeutic massage bridges the gap. It is both therapeutic and relaxing and targeted for recovery. Five stars all the way! If you're dealing with pain, limited mobility, or simply want a relaxing massage, JMT Massage Therapy is the place to go. I'll definitely be trying her full-body services once my shoulder is fully healed, and I encourage anyone in Acton or nearby towns to experience Jen's incredible work!
