It distracts from the nature that God intended the Park to be. I am surprised the Park Board here thinks most residents want a Festival like that here.

Early settlers moved to the area in 1818 and harnessed the energy of the falls for milling and other uses. A cannery and quarry thrived on the banks of the beautiful creek. After which the area became a neglected dumping grounds. In 1919, a local business man had the vision to clean up the property and turn it into a park. Today, the park is beautiful with a massive modern playground, restroom facility, picnic pavilions, paths along the creek and naturally terraced falls. The quarry was turned into a lovely little pond complete with a folk art lighthouse. A quiet war memorial stands on the north side of the pond. I enjoyed my walk through the manicured grounds with gardens and shaded by large trees. Plenty of parking areas meander through the park. Fishing is permitted in the stream. The park is now host to annual events. This is a fabulous community park with beautiful natural elements, great facilities and a little history.

The main feature of the park is the historic Bell Ford Covered Bridge, which opened last year. The bridge was moved from Jackson County and reimagined as a new crossing over Fall Creek on part of the trail system. The bridge and creek offer a picturesque backdrop for visitors. A set of trails moves along the creek. The creek attracts fisherman. I saw something new and impressive. The stairs leading down from the bridge had a slot for bike tires so skilled bikers could roll right down the stairs. The playground was packed with small kids. The climbing structure is awesome! The swings work for many different levels of skill. I particularly liked the covered bench seating for tired grandparents. I saw a pavilion with picnic tables and grills. Restrooms are available on the back side of the pavilion. The parking lot is large and accessible. The park is well loved yet still immaculate. I'd be here everyday if I lived closer.

There is a decent sized parking lot that is connected to the park by a bridge over Mud Creek. There is also some street parking available on the other side of the park. The park has a huge green space that can used for soccer, football, and a picnic. I saw some kids flying a kite on the space while I was there. They have a decent bathroom facility near the parking lot and a picnic shelter. You will find two horseshoe pits (The only park in Fishers with that amenity) near the shelter and a very nice basketball court in the center of the park. The playground is a mud free one that is constructed on a rubber surface. It does not have much as far as equipment goes, but it features two jungle gyms. One of them is huge and has lots of slides, ladders and walkways. The other is a bit smaller and has a few slides and is for the little kids. You will also find a tight rope in the area and climbing rocks, and two banks of swings with traditional, special needs, and toddler swings on them. The equipment is not the newest, but is well maintained and in good shape. There are benches and picnic tables in the playground area for parents to sit while their littles are playing. The picnic tables have a small shade awning over them. Just like most of the park's amenities, it is very nice. The park is very clean and well maintained. I like its quarter mile walking/storybook trail loop and Mud Creek overlook where you can sit and enjoy the creek. With it being a nice park, it can get busy during nice weather, especially during school breaks and weekends. My little really liked the park and it was really hard to get my little to leave. It is a nice park right outside of a Fisher's neighborhood. I am glad we had some good weather and that my little was able to make it out.

I saw plenty of shaded seating for parents near the playgrounds. The amenities are abundant with restrooms, snack bar, lifeguards, outdoor showers and lots of picnic areas. Individual pavilions are available for private family functions. I even saw lounge chairs for sunbathers available. The landscaping is immaculate. Parking is abundant and there was no charge to use the facility. Walkways are accessible. This is one of the nicest parks in the area. Bring the kids, sunscreen, towels, water and picnic supplies.

Flat Fork Creek Park is part of Fishers Parks. Located at 101st and Cyntheanne Road, Flat Fork Creek Park offers just over 60 acres of relaxing fun for just about everyone in the family including a good amount of ADA accessibility. First off, you'll get a 60-foot sledding hill here. That's good to know as we inch toward winter. It's the tallest point in Hamilton County. There's also a 1.25 mile progressive mountain bike course that offers features for both mountain biking newbies and those with more experience. There's a beautiful fishing pond - state license required except for those 17 and under. Nearly 20 acres in the park are reforestation areas and there's a shelter with picnic tables that can be rented. Okay, that accessibility I mentioned? The 3k I did was a relatively small group, though it was centered around disability and had several disabled participants. The park includes an ADA accessible treehouse, a paved multi-use trail, and a boardwalk (I would note that while the boardwalk is, indeed, accessible, you do want to be a tad careful due to the side of the boardwalk that do offer a bit of a drop-off). You know what I think is really cool? They've created a ramp here so that even those with mobility issues can get to the top of the sledding hill - in most parks, that's an afterthought. As a side note, Fishers has won awards for their inclusion work and this park really shows it. This is really just a lovely park. You're not going to find a playground or other frequent park features, however, this beautiful park does a nice job of including everyone and weaving together nature with fun park adventures. Sometimes, the simplest things entertain kids the most, and my kids were entertained for quite a while with just four things to play on. The slide is one of those tall, super slippery jobs that launch you off of it and onto the ground straight on your butt. Then there's the geodesic dome with the chipped paint. And then there are two climbing things: one is kinda like monkey bars, and the other if shaped like some animal. The ground is wood chips, so it's softer than solid ground when falling off the slide (and you will fall off -- I'm telling you, it launches you off).

It is a very well maintained park and is home to a small skate park with a ramp, steps and rails. There is also a decent sized playground that is lined with wood chips. Some of the playground's equipment includes a metal slide (oucchhh), a bank of worn traditional/toddler swings, a see-saw, a tunnel tube, a balance board, a climbing tree, and standing spinner. The equipment is older for the most part, but is still in pretty decent shape. You will also find a large black top near the back of the park that has a small shelter with a couple of picnic tables under it. The black top also has 2 half basketball courts. The black top is in fair condition. The park has a small black top area between the playground and the skate area that can be used to play hopscotch, four square or other blacktop games. The park has a few green space areas that could be used for pick up football games, soccer matches, or have a picnic. There are 3, decent baseball fields on the parks back perimeter. They appear to be used for the towns little league teams and not actually part of the park. I will admit, this is not a destination park, but is a cool place to visit if you are in the area looking for a place to hang out. It was a nice day during my visit and I found the park very peaceful (minus the kids at the nearby school yelling while they were playing at recess).

The park has a decent sized private parking lot and is well maintained. The park is home to a very nice disc golf course, BYOD (Bring your own disc) though. The park has three small to medium sized shelters with picnic tables under it and grills just outside of them. There is also a half decent full basketball court. It is not in the best shape, but it will do. The park does not have a restroom facility, but there is a porta-potty near the parking lot that you could use in a pinch. The park has a lot of good green space that could be used to play soccer, play catch, play football, fly a kite, have a picnic or do other field activities. The park is home to a nice metal gazebo that serves as the Lapel Veterans Memorial. The park's paved trail, that goes alongs its outer perimeter is very nice. It does not get a lot of traffic and is wide-open. The splash pad is pretty basic, but considering that it is in a small town and probably the only one within many miles, it will do. I like the little bench on the outside of it, where parents/guardians can sit and watch their littles. The playground is on a bed of wood chips. It has a bank of traditional/toddler swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a net climber, a metal sliding board (Ouuuch), and a small jungle gym with a few slides and a tunnel. There are benches on the playgrounds perimeter that look onto the playground, where parents can sit and watch their littles. I will admit, this is not a destination park, but is a cool place to visit if you are in the area looking for a place to hang out.
