Good place to study as it had several small tables and an big one. The music wasn't loud in there and customers was quiet the day I went until school got out around 230pm. Summer Moon is our top 3 coffee spots! I love that this Austin-based coffee shop has now branched out to the greater Houston area! This location has a drive-thru, which makes it so convenient when you're on the go. Inside is also clean and the natural lighting makes it a nice place to enjoy your coffee. They are also quick and have friendly customer service! I only wish they had a rewards points system like other coffee chains. The moon milk is their a signature sweet cream, and it adds a delicious and creamy balance to their oak roasted espresso. The moon milk will for sure elevate your latte! They also have dairy free alternatives (oat moon milk), and you can adjust your sweetness level. My favorite drinks to order here are the Cinnamoon Latte w/ Oat Moon Milk and the Matcha Moon. Summer Moon is a great local coffee brand, based in Austin, and I'm thrilled to have it in my neighborhood since we only had the option of Starbucks until a year ago or so. Now there are a bunch of cafe's in Richmond-- and yes, I've been to all of them. So I will tell you what sets Summer Moon apart from the rest. POSITIVES: If you want a local/Texas-based coffee shop that's kinda like Starbucks, and has a DRIVE THRU- This is it. I didn't notice any frap-like drinks, or teas or the VAST long menu like a SBUX has- but that's good. The focus here is simply coffee. As for the vibe, it has indoor dining, so it's a good place to meet friends, bring your kids, or make an appointment to casually meet someone. At the grand opening the music was REALLY loud (which I kinda hate, but hey, maybe I'm just getting old), but I went on a Tuesday at 9am and it was really quiet and chill in there. I don't know what the vibe is after Travis HS students get out of class, but I imagine it to not be as quiet anymore.... fyi. Can you bring your laptop and work/study? Sure. They have wifi. The food is awesome and made by a local vendor in Richmond (I think). The kolaches have a big sausage and the spicy jalapeno is pretty spicy! They also have some salads in the case as well. NEGATIVES: The merch section has alot of great bags of coffee, but hey, I can't taste any of them. Summer Moon only has ONE type of coffee on drip, which is the "Velvet Blaze," their signature blend. It's not bad, but it doesn't blow me away. If you want to taste any of the other blends, the barista said I can purchase a bag, and they'll grind it for me and make me a cup. That kind of sucks. But I will probably go back and get a bag at some point. unfortunately. No fancy pour overs here. Chill cafe music and light chatter make this the perfect study spot! I went Monday afternoon and there were plenty of parking spaces and lots of seats available inside despite there being patrons busy typing away on their laptops. I ordered an almond milk hot chocolate and asked for extra whipped cream. I was not disappointed!! The whipped cream was about an inch tall and didn't come from the usual squirt bottle; it rested as a gentle foam that was not overly sweet. I visited summer moon yesterday with a friend that tried it in Austin. This location is pretty remote but in a pretty rural and nice area. The cafe was clean and the menu pretty straightforward. I will say if I didn't have my friend there I wouldn't have known the flavors you can add since I didn't see it on the menu. I tried a lavender half moon milk latte. Summer Moon Coffee has several locations throughout Houston, and they differentiate themselves from other coffee shops by roasting their coffee beans with Texas oak in brick roasters, and by having their own proprietary blend of milk used in combination with regular skim milk to craft their drinks. They have a variety of drinks availabile in both hot and cold options, as well as teas and seasonal drinks. The menu is split into Summer Moon, to indicate hot drinks, and Winter Moon, to indicate cold drinks. Their signature latte comes in varying levels of sweetness with full moon representing full sweetness, and 1/8 moon indicating the lowest level of sweetness. For my visit, I got the Half Winter Moon latte at the suggestion of a coworker, and opted for the 16oz size instead of the 20oz option. The drink didn't take long at all to be made, and once I tried a sip, I was glad I went with the half sweet option. The drink was nice and creamy, and half sweet was just the right amount of sweetness for me. I was also glad that the drink wasn't overloaded with ice like some other coffee shops tend to do since it meant that I could slowly enjoy it without worrying about a large amount of ice melting and watering it down. Overall, I would definitely recommend Summer Moon Coffee for those looking for a new coffee shop to try.
