I have loved Summa Joe's in the past, but boy, have they changed! The menu has shrunk, so the selection is very limited. The prices are outrageous! My friend ordered a SIDE salad, and it was over $10. It didn't have any protein or anything special on it for that price. I had the chicken picatta, and it was pretty good, but nothing special. Now you drink out of thin, clear, disposable cups that aren't even as good as Solo cups. We sent our cake back because it was stale. I don't know what happened, but be warned. I live the specialty pizzas, and usually "build" my own. The cauliflower crusts are THE BEST!

We came here in a Saturday night. Our wait time was about fifteen minutes. It was a cold night and each time the door opened it sent a chill in. I felt cold through the entire meal. Not sure what you could do to change that but thought I would mention it. I had the chicken Florentine. The portion size was perfect. I loved the light sauce. The chicken was very tasty and tender. I thought it was a win. My daughter had the same thing and wasn't as crazy about the sauce. She felt it had a hint of sweetness that she wasn't crazy about. My son and husband had the nightly special. It was London broil with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Neither of them was crazy about it. The meat wasn't really tender. But not sure if it is ever a super tender cut of meat. My daughter had a wedge salad. The dressing had a great flavor and was homemade. I felt like it could have had a little more bacon on it. My son had a Caesar salad and enjoyed it. Our server was great. He checked on us often and gave great suggestions. He was funny and super friendly. The employees seemed to work well together and as a team. All in all we had an enjoyable meal. 10-25-17 I tried the trout PO boy sandwich and it was good and you get a lot of food. My husband got the chicken cordon blue which I preferred and he got a side of Alfredo to dip the sandwich in and it was amazing!! They also have good salads I like their croutons and 1000 island dressing. If I'm not in the mood for pizza I'll order the chicken cordon blue with a side f Alfredo, so good. I'm not sure what has happened here but it's not the same place we loved many years ago. The quality isn't the same. We were eating here nearly every weekend and stopped going sure to the service and food quality. Recently went back to give it another shot... well we're done. Drinks were not refilled and the pizza was near burnt. It's so disappointing but we were hoping it had changed. It's been hard to fine a great quality restaurant in Anderson. Haven't been here in almost a year, as the wait to get seated was extensive (45min to an hour). No reservations, but good for them! With that said, it's good food in a large 1960's style kitchen (chromed table legs and chairs with vinyl-type chairs). A bit loud, family/kid friendly with specialty pizzas. read more

This place was an outstanding find on a recent road trip. It's a bit off the beaten path through South Carolina (in a pleasant, downtown Anderson setting), but I think you'll find it's worth it. These guys are strongly into the whole "locavore" farm to table thing. Small plates, but you won't go home hungry. Everything is hand-crafted fresh, daily. You can tell there is attention to detail on the menu and in providing good service. According to our server, Summer runs the front of the house, and Joe runs the back. I think it may have been Summer who seated us, but not after talking with us at length about the menu, and her favorite things on it. I think Summa Joe's is known for their pizzas, but they have some excellent looking sandwiches and salads on the menu. Plus, there are daily specials that are clearly going to please any palate. I almost ordered the shrimp & pasta special. But two different people said the Chicken Florentine pizza was a best seller, so I had to try it. And I can see why it is a favorite. Not on a red sauce, this pizza was made with chunks of gently fried chicken breast. The whole thing was tasty and filling. It's easy to see why this place seems to be such a local favorite. During our time there, the place was filled with bunches of people who were out, having a great time, laughing and celebrating.... Of course, it was Saturday night, and I think they were running a $10 wine bottle special, which I'm sure helps any celebration right along. I was totally distracted by the sight of some freshly baked cakes back towards the kitchen. I learned that they had been baked that morning. So, of course, we had to try a couple. We had a slice of the maple-pecan cake, and a slice of the pineapple cream cake. I think the maple-pecan might have been the winner, but both were excellent. Disappointing experience ending in not eating and being told not to come back. My dinner came out burned and the manager said it was blackend not burned. Recook never came out. We were charged for the meal we never got and was cursed when we said it needed to be removed from the bill. The manager threated to call police then said the owner said we were to leave immedately and not come back. Today I called the owner to see if they were aware of what had happened. After all, you can't know what all of your employees do and say when you aren't there. Sadly, the owner did say that she was aware. Again, apology was not offered. She said everyone could have handled themselves better, myself and my husband included. I asked what I could have done better and I was told that I was "rude and condensending". Needless to say, not getting served, threatend to have police called, banned for life, and the owner not apologizing for the issues...night could have gone better. read more

Sweet little shop on Main St in Anderson. Delightful lunch at a tall 4-top after a glorious day at the Anderson County Museum. I had the Muffelatto sandwich with a side of black beans and rice. The side was steamy, hot and topped with a dollop of sour cream and chopped scallions. The sandwich was outstanding with some of the most mouth-watering ham I've ever tasted! Definitely a spot that's unique to Anderson. We love that they use fresh, local ingredients in their food. The pizza is pretty average and the sandwiches are good. The price has gone up over the last few years. I recommend trying the Tomato Bisque soup. It's outstanding! We also enjoy the Maple Pecan Cake. read more

I have heard wonderful things about this place and had to try it. After my meal I'm thinking it was the pizza that people were raving about. Husband and I had lunch there and were quite disappointed with the food. I had the muffuletta on focaccia. The focaccia was so dense and thin. Not a great bread for a muffuletta. The focaccia fell apart from the overuse of liquid. I chose black beans and rice. Very bland and in a pool of water. My husband had some type of Italian meat sandwich with a side of horseradish potato salad. Just like my sandwich the bread fell apart but he did enjoy the choice of meats. He stated that the potato salad was boring and had little taste of horseradish. We did share a price of peanut butter frosting chocolate cake. Very dry cake and the frosting was low on flavor.
