The deck was nice as was the space for lawn games and other activities. It looked like the built in facilities were really helpful for our caterers and the other folks serving our group! It really was a nice venue if perhaps a bit far from most of Edmonton. Then again the seclusion could be an appealing factor! There was ample parking and the dirt road to get there was not very long at all.

As a former events manager, I have never felt so undermined or disrespected by the on-site manager of this facility. First, he refused to give us a key to the building -- After paying $600 for the venue and then having many of the "perks" revoked with the loss of their in-house catering company, they could have at least given us a key to use. The site manager continually entered the hall during the reception and pestered the groom with questions about when our linens and other rental equipment would be removed. As the rentals were not made through the hall, he had no right to ask such questions, and I told him as much when he questioned my willingness/ability to bring the items to the vendor the next day. After he was asked to address all of his questions and concerns to me, he began to search out other members of the bridal party. He even went so far as to turn the hall lights on and off after we had dimmed them to a safe, yet mood-inspiring level. The final nail in the OTS coffin was finding out later that friends of the manager (members of OTS, perhaps?) were drinking and carrying on INSIDE THE HALL during our rental period, the afternoon of the wedding. If you want a stress-free wedding, do not book this space. Yes, it is a great venue space and has a beautiful attached park, but dealing with this man is not worth it. To quote the bride: "the day was perfect, with that one exception."

I loved that each Zone or Party room had their OWN washroom and one entrance for all party guests. Makes it easy to keep track of kiddos/parents and not worry about anyone else getting into your stuff/wandering off with things. The rooms were clean and bright! There was a little sink/kitchenette serving area and the sink was at kiddo height! My girlfriend said the customer service was great, too. I didn't ask her about the price as I thought that would be rude but I am most definitely going to check this place out in the future for my own kiddos' birthday parties. A great idea for kids with winter birthdays and you don't pay a PER kid fee - you simply pay for the party room and inflatables you choose. AND you get to bring in your own food unlike places like Let's Play or Kids Quarterz where you are forced to go with their food. Two Big Thumbs Up! I uploaded some pics - sneak a peek :-)

Once inside there's an open space with display cabinets. They had a photo booth set up on the left side and the radio show set up on the right side but there was room for people to walk. The washrooms were to the left and they were clean and tidy. We went into the hall and it was set up with tables and chairs for about 10 people around each table. There was a centrepiece and items on the table, and also decorations hanging on the side walls. The tables weren't set up right to the stage to leave room for those who wanted to dance to get up close to the band. The 2 bars had line ups but it was easy to buy drink tickets and line up. The ladies' selling the tickets were nice and I asked if they had a tip jar but she didn't have one. They also had food set up with pizza, I think chicken too, chips, and chocolate bars. We were seated almost aligned with the doors and could see the band on the stage pretty well. There was an aisle so lots of people walking by but it wasn't bothersome. The sound was decent for the hall too. Decent venue for events and would be happy to be back for more parties!

If you are lucky enough to attend a banquet, you are in for a treat. The resident staff is top notch. Great Italian food and attentive service. My last visit was for a concert. When you walk into the centre, there are a few rooms on the left and the large gym straight ahead. The fair was held in the large space which was organized in rows with rectangle tables and 2 chairs. Each table had a table cloth laid out. The layout was great as it wasn't too crowded for people to walk and there wasn't much room between the tables but I didn't have anyone using the beside me so it worked out. They also had a table on the side with water jugs and glasses. Other times I've been, they've had round tables in this big room and rectangle tables around for the food and drinks. I saw in the other smaller room, people organizing and decorating for a Halloween party. It would be fun! The washrooms are just outside the rooms and the ladies' room was large with lots of stalls. It was nice and clean. There was parking on the street in front of the centre and across the street there was lots of parking in the lot. Decent venue to hold a meeting or work event.

Last night, I was able to see a different side of Mirage Banquet in a memorial event for a local fighter. The Mirage donated the room AND the catering for everyone and the silent auction that night. That kind of generosity and community support is commendable and I just wanted to make sure my review reflected that. The decor was classy. Crisp, clean linens, quality centrepieces, great lighting and quality sound. And the food. The catering was amazing. Hot, delicious selection. Roast potatoes, coconut fish, chicken parm, tender and rare prime rib, salad, flavourful gravy and a mushroom Alfredo pasta that was to die for. The catering and service staff were ON IT. Food was instantly whisked in and empty trays traded out so no one in line had to wait for a buffet selection. Tables were bussed of dirty dishes quicky and quietly. I definitely would book with the Mirage for the room and even for the catering for an outside event. (which they do!)
