I am writing this review based on an event I had to organize for the organization of which I am a part. We received an award and the person giving it came in from Barcellona, Spain (exactly, no pressure). Given what I knew about the kitchen (Chef Patrick who is originally from the Petroleum Club is now here) and the actually hall (redone with lovely lighting and tasteful decor), I figured I was in very good hands.
The event was DELICIOUS! The one thing I do need to say is that the organization is one that highlights heritage languages, so when I went in to talk with Chef Patrick I gave him a list of the heritage language organizations that would be represented (I selected 12 in all) ranging from Russian to Korean, to Spanish to Kenyan. All I can say is that the menu was wonderfully varied and everyone who attended and had the meal (we did it "appetizer" style since it was an "after work" type event) really, really enjoyed it.
Happily, even Chef Patrick and the staff at SMGCC were thrilled to do something different from the traditional "Italian" meal style they are often asked to do. As well, our budget was about 5000$ and this included the wine and they even assisted with some of the decor for the tables. Ms. Soles and Evelyn were kind and accommodating in all respects from start to finish, down to writing the foreign names and countries from which the dishes came. Our visitor from Spain enjoyed the Paella and even expressed her very impressed and positive comments for all the food prepared.
I had already been here when SMGCC had the Lobster Fest Night and that convinced me to have this event here. Having had our event now, I am VERY glad and confident to recommend this venue to anyone that asks :-) read more
