Ah, good old Cub and Spanks…read more.. Now I've only been coming here for the past couple of months, but they fulfill a couple of requirements I require in a bar. 1) cheap drinks. And I don't mean this place is the kind of establishment that serves drinks in red solo cups, they serve them in regular plastic tumbler cups, and they're not bottom shelf garbage liquids either. A Jameson and Ginger ale will set you back a whopping $4. I feel like I'm stealing from the bar when I drink here! This is a good thing. 2) conversational level of crowd noise. This place has never been so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was sitting with, granted, we haven't come here on a Friday or Saturday night, so consider that the asterisk. I prefer a place where u don't need a bullhorn to talk to someone 3 feet away. 3) shuffleboard table. This place will always have a special place in my heart since I popped my shuffleboard cherry here on September 30th after closing out Charter Fitness. However, they've since replaced the old board with a new-fangled board with the prison bars that come up in the middle to avoid free plays, and the table is but crooked. Not that I'm a cheapskate and try to play for free, but the sand gets stuck in the holes so when you start a game, you have to manually push the bars in in order to allow your pucks to slide freely from end to end. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems 3) jukebox. Since the beginning if time, man has attempted to push forth their culture on those around them, and this is the perfect way to do it. You can even control the jukebox from your phone! Well, your smartphone at least. I don't think your Motorola StarTAC is going to help you out here, nor will your Nokia 8200. 4) regulars. You will see the same people day in day out here, whatever day of the week. They may or may not remember that you had a conversation about whatever you had a conversation about, but they're friendly. Or you can chalk it up to this place being a townie bar, but I won't call it that. Come to Cubbies, sidle up to the bar, and maybe drop a buck on a game of shuffleboard or two. If I'm there, say hello and challenge me to a game. I might show you a thing or two. Or not. I've only been playing for a couple if months...

The bartenders are friendly, very easy on the eyes, and are simply downright excellent people. Now let's be realistic. If you're looking for a fillet mignon. This is not the place. But if you're looking for good burgers, good sweet potato fries, an excellent Reuben, a monster salad, and a chicken quesadilla that's loaded, and a crazy loaded jalapeño thing, this place is for you. If you're looking for Michelin level cuisine and waitresses that scrape the table cloths during your meal...yeah, no. I've seen a few of the comments talking about individual situations, and I can say if you're looking to be a jerk, then you'll probably be treated like a jerk, then please don't come back and the rest of us will be quite happy not to observe your drama. I would put the Dam bar in the top 5 of all bars in Kane County. And the number #1 pub in Geneva. And we have a lot of good pubs in Geneva too. I loved the flavor of the sauce and the medium order came as quite a big portion. They were very crispy and well breaded. My husband got The Fat Boy burger with a side of their famous Cajun Fried Potato Salad and Baked Beans. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The potato salad wasn't too spicy but tasted delicious. They haven't quite achieved dive bar status, but with a little time and a lot more energy, they might get there. They get four stars from me. I walked into this town a stranger, but left knowing a fair cross-section of its dynamics and characters, simply by spending an hour sitting at this bar. I'm totally serious - I got several perspectives from several interesting characters. I love that you never know exactly what you will get in this bar, but you can expect various discussions about politics, weather, sports, and more. The big brick building looked like there was some history behind those doors. We walked into a dark room with two levels, a big bar flanking one side of the room and a stage with a dancefloor. I could tell people have fun here. We snagged a small table and listened to the 4-piece band while sipping on an ice-cold beer. The bartender Chris was fantastic. He got busy but never forgot us. There was a popcorn machine which was great, but I was hoping for a meal or at least an appetizer, since I had just gotten off work. It does have the word PUB in it's name. Oh well, the music kept us too busy all night to think about food. The place seems as though it has gotten a facelift. It looks restored not renovated. Everything was super clean, which is always a good thing. I really enjoyed my night at The House Pub and would definitely stop in again the next time I am in town.

Neighborhood bar with new owners, so a few changes since I was there last. And "new" means years…read moreago, but still... I have to say I was a little bummed to see all the Cubs memorabilia had been removed. At least I couldn't see any. Not all of us are Sox fans. But still a great little bar. They now have an outdoor patio, which is cool. It's a bar - nothing fancy. The burgers are the big draw here if you like burgers.
