We stopped in to check out the new bakery after we heard they recently opened. They had a fairly large selection, but nothing that really appealed to my taste. I bought my mom a blueberry muffin for a treat and she said it was ok.

Amy was very friendly, and works extremely hard at her craft. She does a fantastic job making sure orders are filled to customer satisfaction!!! I came back just days later with my family to munch down some amazing and delicious treats. Must try! In Danielson, CT. -the AirForceRecruiter

I bought 4 items. All of them were crammed into the same plastic container. The two lemon tarts are wonderful!! The black&white cookie is very cakey. The slice of red velvet cake is quite dry. I imagine it's been in the case for a couple of days.

This bakery is amazing! They have the most incredible dessert, cakes, cookies and grab and go items! They also offer coffee, teas and breakfast sandwiches that are absolutely delicious! They do specially orders and custom cakes along with wedding cakes. My favorites are woopie pies, bizmark, cannoli, and blueberry muffins just to name a few. They are easy to find and have plenty of parking. They also have a very comfortable dining area with plenty of seating. Highly recommend!

Reasonable pricing and I wish I knew the young man's name around 930 on Sunday 2/22 because he was great, personable and helped me decide which coffee concoction out of so many great choices. Definitely helped during the storm. Will be back soon!

Everything is portioned more like a cupcake than a full slice, so you can actually try multiple flavors without committing to one. Side note: you can order whole cheesecakes along with custom cakes for those special occasion's as well! I went with the cookie dough, cookies & cream, and birthday cake cheesecakes. Across the board, they were solid. Lighter in texture, not too sweet, not overly dense, and easy to eat. If you're expecting that thick, classic New York style bite, this isn't it. But that's the point. These feel more like a hybrid dessert cheesecake meets whipped, flavored treat. The surprise of the visit wasn't even the cheesecake. It was the chocolate chip cookies. Perfect execution.. thin, soft, chewy center with a crisp edge. They had that exact homemade quality you can't fake, like something straight out of your grandmother's kitchen. Balanced sweetness and proper texture. I could've easily gone through an entire tray without thinking twice. From a menu standpoint, they're clearly built around: - Flavored, individual-sized cheesecakes (cookie dough, cookies & cream, birthday cake, etc.) - Rotating or staple dessert flavors that lean more fun than traditional - Classic baked goods like cookies that honestly compete with (or outperform) the main attraction If I'm being critical--this isn't a destination for purists looking for a traditional cheesecake experience. But if you want variety, lighter texture, and more flavor-driven desserts, it hits. Overall: came for cheesecake, would come back for the cookies.

Alamode Specialty Foods - Cross section of their excellent eggplant parmigiana

    Alamode Specialty Foods

"I'm all yours Put me to the test…read moreLove is my specialty" (Roberta Flack) It's hard to say what Alamode Specialty Foods clearly specializes in, because they have quite a lot of special treats everywhere you look on their shelves and inside their display cases. Want some examples? Of course you do, or you wouldn't be reading this. Cookies, muffins, pastries, beverages, bottled sauces and condiments, candies, nuts cakes, grab and go entrees, soups, meat pies, a deli counter, sandwiches, snacks, plenty of deviled egg varieties, breads and bagels, and to top things off, how about 30 or so ice creams? We had a blast checking out this cool little country store in Connecticut's quiet corner. We bought a hunk of Eggplant Parmesan from their deli ($10.95), a pint of spicy chicken corn chowdah ($6.95), two singles scoops of ice cream (PbB Banana and Mayan Chocolate) at $5 each, and a big Cinnamon Swirl Croissant ($4.95). The total was $32.85 before tax. We split the Eggplant for dinner, and I can attest that it was excellent. It was a big portion, piled high of very tender eggplant slices in a marinara sauce. Eggplant can be a tricky food and it can turn up tough and rubbery from time to time. But not here. I had the Chowdah for lunch today. It was loaded with corn, carrots, potatoes, and quite a lot of shredded chicken in a creamy broth. I was disappointed by the lack of spiciness in a dish advertised as spicy. But I'd get that missing spice very soon. The ice creams were very good but were on the expensive side for $5 a single scoop. When I ordered the Mayan Chocolate, the super friendly young lady behind the counter wanted to be sure I knew it would be spicy. Well, she was right about the spice; it had an undertone of chili peppers that mixed very well with the cold chocolate ice cream. But spicy rarely bothers me, so I thought It was awesome. The only bummer we had in our grocery bag was that big Cinnamon Swirl Croissant. It wasn't exactly fresh and was quite brittle and crumbly in places. But it was big, and the center of the pastry seemed a lot "fresher" and softer. That portion was quite good. We had a very enjoyable visit overall, and I can definitely see repeat visits to Alamode in our future.

This trip, my dad decided to take my husband and me on a very important "bread journey". We went down a few small roads that led to... a bread shed filled with the most wonderful, fresh-baked goods. We grabbed a classic sourdough, the roasted garlic sourdough loaf, and some cookies. Honestly, I would drive here every weekend if I still lived here! The sourdough is truly phenomenal. The roasted garlic loaf is a masterpiece. It's fantastic when toasted up with some roasted tomatoes and pesto. Just be warned: it's so packed with flavor, it's also a great way to ensure people stay a respectful distance from you all day long (hello, garlic breath!). I also got to try the banana bread brownies. I could do without the frosting, but the actual banana bread base is perfection. This is a great little spot to fulfill all your carbohydrate needs. It's best to follow on instagram to see what will be available for the weekend and either placing a pre-order or risking it all and stopping by when the shed opens to see what you can grab. Everything is so tasty! Five stars for the best bread shed I've ever been to.
