I finally got to Sugarloaf Crush yesterday, and I'm sorry it took me this long! What an amazing experience we had. Stunning grounds, absolutely beautiful tasting room, welcoming staff, and amazing wines. I'm in the wine industry in Sonoma and this place is unique and SO worth a visit. Rarely can you go to one tasting room and have your choice of multipe tasting menus depending on your preference, and to be able to taste different brands is awesome. I went home with several bottles of amazing pinots - at great prices! We got to spend tie with Susan and Jim and they were knowledgable and delightful. And the fact that they welcomed our pup, was icing on the cake. I'm excited to be on their mailing list and hear about upcoming events, but until then I know I can just stop by for a bottle and some bocce ball with friends.

We were very excited to each have our own rooms with attached bathrooms, and felt like QUEENS... I personally was in Room #6 upstairs with a cute little balcony. The bed was so luxurious and ridiculously comfortable that it made it really hard to get out of bed and face the day (side note: they are clearly brand-new beds and incorrectly spoken about on that negative review, so take that one with a grain of salt, SMH); Some had deep jetted tubs, some had ADA walk-in showers, something to accommodate everyone's needs! Each bathroom even had extra amenities you wouldn't expect like make-up remover and cotton balls - such a nice touch! One thing I was worried about was the traffic noise at night, but it was not an issue at all, which just shows that the insulation renovations that were completed really were impeccable and every last comfort was thought of for their guests. Access to the kitchen and laundry facilities was also a huge plus as well for last minute weather needs! I highly recommend this gem in Sonoma County when you book your next wine country adventure! =)

The host was very responsive to our messages, which we greatly appreciate. Unfortunately there were the good thing stopped. The bathroom in our room wasn't clean. There was hair all over the floor and in the shower drain. There were spiders and dead ants in the bath/shower area and random trash left on the room. The road noise made sleeping almost impossible except during the wee hours of the morning. The room itself is probably 30 feet from a major 4-lane road with heavy traffic. Overall for the price I was very disappointed in the state of the room itself more than anything. To the host's credit they had someone come clean the room while we were out for the day, which was much appreciated. If the property was quieter I'd probably give it another shot but the combo of issues really killed our stay.

Most of our attendees were coming in from out of town so it was important for us to show them a memorable wine county experience complete with beautiful views, excellent food, great wine and memorable venue. Kenwood delivered across the board at a very reasonable price. The grounds were perfect for our wedding. The barn was ideal for the size of our party and the grounds outside allowed the kids to play safely but away from the adult fun. We booked a Friday evening wedding which gave great flexibility on dates with venue and caterers. Kenwood catered the event and even coordinated with many local food vendors to ensure our favorite breads, cheeses, cakes and beer were there for the sampling. They also helped us find a very good DJ who kept people dancing all night. The Kenwood wines were a nice option given the price and the beer selection was very good. We found Lorin to be helpful in planning the event but realize if you don't get the full planning package you'll need to do some heavy lifting yourself leading up to the event. I'd recommend the 'day of' planning package. If you're reading this review to find a venue for your wedding congratulations, I highly recommend Kenwood Gardens.

Glenda was our server and was wonderful. Michael Macrae is the Chef and we told him our feelings, also to the personable owner Kenneth - both appreciative of our sentiments. Their sides of large French fried - like potatoes with a divine spicy red sauce and mushroom puree, along with a first course of fresh vegetables to dip in an amazing white cream sauce, were spectacular. Our only concern is that the prime rib is on a trial basis for now. We can only encourage others to support it and hope that this will become a permanent option and obviate the need for us to go into SF for our prime rib hit (we live in Santa Rosa)! Nice atmosphere, nice decor, "happening" friendly feeling.

Dinner started out strong with roasted beet and kampachi crudo. Both were delicous. Then the third course was Confit pork belly, also quite good if you like pork belly. Some people may find it too fatty or unhealthy. The fourth course was salmon and it was ok. Nothing to rave about in my opinion. Then the last course was the chicken which fell short. The chicken was medicore but the sauce was very salty. The tasting menu did not come with dessert which was very strange. I would much rather stick with one entree and have dessert instead. We didn't end up ordering dessert but it was nice they offered us a complimentary small bowl of ice cream for our friend's birthday. I saw on the bill the small bowl of ice cream would have been $12 if we had to pay for it (ouch). Service was attentive but the overall experience was not worth the high price.

It was a fun opportunity for some Christmasy photos as the decor was plentiful and festive! (I hope they decorate more and more next year... truly make it a "takeover" like the name suggests.) Embracing the season, we started with some holiday "naughty and nice" shots ..haha.. horchata & fireball. Sweet, tasty, and came served in take-home holiday shot glasses. From there, we ordered a couple more themed cocktails, both were stronger than expected. All in all, it was just a fun start to the meal. I ordered the eggs benedict and every part of the dish was exactly as you would hope - crisped but soft english muffin, yolky poached egg, griddled smoky ham slice, and a creamy hollandaise. It was perfect! The home fries that accompanied were equally as tasty and just tied it all up with a starchy bow. Others in my group enjoyed their choices as well, with the chicken and waffles being another favorite. Service was so excellent! She was just so friendly and engaging and professional. Thank you! We are not golfers and we will ABSOLUTELY be back next year!

This beautiful…read morewinery is located in the small town of Kenwood, which is on the north end of the Sonoma Valley. The history of this winery can be traced back to the 1920s, when a rich mining family moved west from Michigan and purchased the land where it sits on. The winery business actually started in the 1970s by several businessmen from the San Joaquin Valley. 50+ years later, it remains one of the more recognizable names in the NorCal wine industry. I got here with my buddy David A. and his wife at around 4:15pm. The first thing that struck me was the tranquility. I was dealing with a major protest in my city that morning, so the peacefulness was truly appreciated by me. Aside from that, nature's beauty was on full display. The sky was blue, the hills were green, and the temperature was a perfect 72F. Sarah couldn't have asked for a better day to have her wedding! The ceremony was held in a covered area near the chateau, with seating set up for 100-150 guests. After the ceremony, a pre-reception cocktail party was held in the courtyard area. After about an hour or so, the dinner reception was held under the giant palm tree. The food and service for the entire event were fantastic. From appetizers to main course to desserts, the food was well prepared and delicious. Service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. There were a couple minor hitches during the reception, but they resolved them quickly. Chateau St. Jean is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As a non-drinker, I don't know enough about their wine to have an opinion on their quality, but I think you will really enjoy the serene setting.
