My fiancée brought me here for my bday to buy me a cupcake . I chose my favorite- red velvet. It add prob the best cupcake I've ever had! We've taken several trips since then and joined the club, however is kind of bogus you must spend $10 to get a point. I don't think it adds up- must spend the $10 for a point to go towards future purchases, rather than $3 this trip and $7 the next- however I could be wrong. (When I went to pay, it said no points earned). They have a good selection of cupcakes- we got a skittles kind for my fiancées bday and we tried the macarons on a separate visit. I do not recommend getting a birthday cake from here, not entirely the best service as they weren't honest over the phone about what size the cake would be, and for as expensive as this place is (HIGHWAY ROBBERY) you'd expect it to be good, but it just isn't. My mom's side of the family is originally from Rockford, and whenever there is a special occasion (read: shower), we order cupcakes from Sugar Jones (the churro cupcakes are a family favorite). This most recent shower, my mom also ordered custom cookies to fit the mountain theme. Boy, did Sugar Jones deliver. They were not GORGEOUS, but also very tasty with a hint of almond. Find a different bakery to patronize! Give Banana Cherry your business, or anyone else. SugarJones' customer service is incredibly poor, and they are extremely overpriced. I just purchased speciality cupcakes for my own birthday party, at a cost of $111.00 for THIRTY (30) cupcakes. I asked for "sand" as a topping. Could easily been achieved with graham crackers. Wanted to charge me $.50 for a simple seashell chocolate candy. See photos attached for what I received. Really sloppy decorating; see photos attached. So ridiculous of them! Then, I asked for bags to put each cupcake in, as there is no way a guest could take them home, without a mess. I was informed I would be charged for the bags. Unbelievable! If I purchased the cupcakes one at a time, I would not be charged for a bag to take the cupcake home. NEVER patronizing this bakery again. My money will stay in Rockford, with another bakery. Went in Saturday 7/24 to buy 6 cupcakes. Got home and opened the box. Shocked! These cupcakes were $1.85 each. They were 1/2 the size I bought a few months ago. No exaggeration. The little chocolate candy that was on top before is now a little sprinkle-type of non-pareal tiny candy, no chocolate. I just feel they have ripped their loyola following off, just like all the other stores do. I find nothing special about this shop now. My money is going to By the Dozen Bakery going forward. They have top quality and prices are very competitive. Sadly, Sugar Jones has no longer serving their customers with a quality product, at a fair price! Sad. Shoutout to sugarjones. When my girlfriend asked for a bakery suggestion since she'd be in Rockford (she lives in the North Shore) the day before her sons birthday party. It was an easy ask and I gave her my top 5 recommendations with Sugar Jones topping the list. They were able to make it happen on short notice and provided 40 of the best cupcakes our guests have tasted. They took care of the order remotely with accuracy and flexibility and packed the order for transport and freshness. Even with a bag getting thrown on top of the box on the drive out of town, the cupcakes were completely unaffected and arrived in perfect condition. read more

The cake part of their cupcakes are good (if a bit dry by the end of the day); however I will say the frosting leaves a bit to be desired. Vanilla cupcakes are my weakness; however, they use what seems to be a whipped cream based frosting, and it really should be a buttercream. Maybe they changed the recipe because I went there a little over a year ago, and remembered them as being pretty good (just too expensive). They use the same frosting for their red velvet, which should be a cream cheese. It would be one thing if it was just a different type of frosting, but it just wasn't good. Not to mention, they're pretty expensive, especially considering the quality. We contacted Sugarjones to make a cake for our mom's surprise shelter-in-place Phase 3 birthday party. We asked them to include a picture of a our mom's mandolin and the message "we love you". Good cupcakes, lousy attitude. I went to pick up some sweet treats for my family a little after 5:00 on a Friday. When I came in the shop was empty, just two employees and myself. I knew they might be sold out of certain flavors, so when the woman came up to the counter and asked if she could help me I smiled and asked "So, what kinds do you have left?" She waved her hand at the display case, said "These", turned on her heel and walked away. She kept her back to me for awhile, and eventually turned around, made eye contact and snapped "Yes?" I ordered, paid, and was dismissed just as curtly. The place was immaculate, and I came in a full 40 minutes before closing time so I don't see any reason to be short with the only customer in the store.
