The experience we had with Sugarfina is just utterly terrible that I recommend others to approach with caution.. Sugarfina is supposed to be a premium candy brand. As suggested by it $9.5 a cube of candy and pretty packaging. I thought at a premium price point of $9.5 I would be getting good quality candy. This is my little luxury. And I was so excited. But.. We bought five cubes of candy, 2 of which are dark chocolate almonds. The almonds tastes oxidized, you know that rancid long expired nut taste. It's not edible. Both boxes have the same rancid taste issue. We live two hours away so it's not practical to drive back for an exchange or refund. So we called customer service. It took a long time for a representative to be available to help us but that's ok. The representative promised a full refund and shipping us a replacement. We weren't expecting that as I just want the two inedible cubes refunded. But I appreciate them promising to make it right. However, two weeks has passed and we did not receive any refund nor shipping confirmation. So we called again, which again took a long time for a representative to be available. We explained the issue, and were told the first ticket was probably not submitted. They promised again a full refund and shipping us a replacement for the two defected products. And weeks passed nothing again. We called a third time. And I really just want the two cubes of inedible candy refunded. And was told "well we refunded you". But it's been 7 weeks there was truly no refund.. After three long calls and empty promises I gave up on trying to fix it. I'm just expecting adequate quality for what I paid for but they can't deliver. This is not advertised as your average brand. So I believe customers should receive not your average product. I don't condone these empty promises and false hopes either. Candy is supposed to make us happy. But this candy caused so much heartache for us. We did everything we can to delay the review and try to resolve it first. I genuinely always believe a bad product could be an accident and the business is willing to fix it. Instead of rushing to review I always reach out and explain and resolve it. We tried and are tired. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. If you do buy their candy. I'm already a fan of the rather bougie candies at Sugarfina (the champagne gummy bears are my jam) but this was my first time checking out this location (the only standalone Sugarfina shop in NorCal) as I wanted to curate a birthday gift for someone. Small interior and it seems a bit pop-up-shoppy in that it's not well-decorated and even awkwardly quiet.....a quite different vibe compared to the locations I've visited in SoCal lol. Either way, still gets the job done for the most part. The lady who was running the shop at the time was friendly. I kinda already knew what I was looking for so I was in and out door in minutes. They didn't bother to stop talking for a second to greet me. and as I perused the store, they didn't ask if they could help me find anything. It wasn't until I went up to the counter to ask them a question that they finally ack colleges me. Given that this is a luxury candy boutique, I expect some courteous customer service. This location pales to the Sugarfina in Beverly Hills, at which I was first exposed to the brand. Strolling through Santana Row and of course I want to stop at this candy store. This place reminded me of the Lady M Bon Bons that I foolishly purchased for $8 and about 6 gummies were inside. Sugarfina candy is very fine and presented in high-end packaging that makes it the perfect scaled-up gift for any occasion. Their super cute customized 'bentos' let you pick 3/6/12 candy boxes to put into a very nice gift box. The first time I ever visited this place was in Las Vegas. I remember that the items sold there were expensive and because it was Vegas, a tourist trap town, it was going to be pricey. The one here in San Jose is a bit different, the store was smaller than the one in Vegas and the prices were also smaller here. The price for one small cube is $10. The other boxes contain three cubes for $30 and about $90 for the 9 cubed one. The candy inside are unlike any other candy sold at world plus, supermarkets, Eddie world and other Willy Wonka imitators I have ever been to. Price was a huge problem because although the candy and the cubes are cute, the candy wasn't much inside. I'd probably price them around 2$ for the tiny cube. Customer service was non existent. The employees didn't welcome nor ask us if we needed any help. They watched us if we were to steal a cube but that's all. They didn't bother to come up and give us samples and ask us about their new deals. Nada. The outside was in an outlet, but was welcoming due to the vibrant colors inside. We did find a deal for 75% off the nutcracker exclusive Christmas box. It cost around 30$ and we ended up buying it $7.50. It included 2 cubes as well although the candy was old. But it was definitely a great deal. The other box months before was it's original price 3 cubes for $30 but the candy inside the cubes were a lot better tasting. I came across this place while watching a Good Mythical Morning episode, Rhett had mentioned receiving a gift from Sugarfina that really stood out to me. Made a quick Google search and found this location near me. The store was pretty empty when we entered. It was quite beautiful inside with all the different colors and flavors they had for gummies. I was scrolling around their small candy cube section priced at $8.95 each. I was intrigued in founding out what their current popular gummy flavors were and so, I approached the lady working there and she suggested the popular Champagne gummy Bears -- I can come around to getting one of those when I really am in the mood for high end candy. I really liked how they had vegetarian and vegan options for gummies. Definitely nice to have those. I really appreciate that Sugarfina offers gelatin-free gummies as well! Granted there is only a tiny selection but I feel they were very intentional in which flavors to make vegan. Namely, the CHAMPAGNE GUMMIES!! Many gelatin-free gummy candies on the market simply don't have the same bite as gelatin gummies, but these ones come pretty close! Not only that, but they deliver on the flavor too! The other vegan fave I have are the little pineapple gummies. There is a similar gummy made by a confectioner in the UK which is like $15 per little bag... I'd say these cute pineapples available at Santana Row are just as worth it! In a blond taste test I wouldn't be able to distinguish the champagne gummy versus the corona gummy. There's something about the flavor profile that's off. I also felt the service was biased. I was by kyself and wasn't offered any samples, but when a couple walked in behind me they were showered with samples, even though they weren't a rewards member and I am. I had to ask for samples, and for help, wheras the got the royal treatment. Customers come in all shapes and sizes. My favorite candy store. Each candy is beautifully package. It looks good and tastes good. Yes, it is expensive but that's because this is posh candy. You can still find ways to save. During the holidays, they have great deals. I like to buy these candy cubes as gifts. They look nice with unique flavors. When I mean unique, I mean chocolate covered rock candy, champagne gummies, tequila sours,etc. They are all unique and different yet the flavors come together so well. That is why I love this place. From presentation to creativity to the flavors of the candy, they are very well executed. I enjoy their gummies over the chocolates. Chocolates aren't their specialty. If I want chocolates, I would go to a place that specializes in it - Iike See's or Godiva. I've tried quite a variety of their flavors and my favorite ones are tequila grapefruit sours and peach belini. I keep going back to the grapefruit sours over and over again. It's infused with Casmigo tequila covered with sugar. The peach belini is my 2nd favorite. It has a nice peach taste with a hint of the belini flavor. They apparently charge higher prices because they use "high-quality sugar". Not sure how this type of sugar stands out from your regular store bought granulated sugar... but all I can say is that, you're mostly paying for the brand name and the aesthetics/packaging. Some items are unique, such as their Rose gummy white chocolate bar (believe me, I'm addicted to it) and are worth paying extra for, but everything else is alright and the overall value for the items is quite poor. Was a bit disappointed with their gummies and dark chocolate bars- why pay $9-$10 for a similar chocolate bar that they sell at Whole Foods for half the price? Such sweets may also be cheaper at a local mom and pop confectionary store... heck they even have similar products online (ahem won't name the e-commerce site) for lower prices... and all of those alternative options give you more for your buck. But if you're in a hurry and need cute gifts for baby showers, parties, or to celebrate general sweets lovers, and it just so happens that you're conveniently in Santana Row, I would say why not buy a box or two of sweets? Plus, their customer service is on point... workers are friendly, informative, and will provide wrapping paper/stuffing for gifts. While I didn't try the candies, Sugarfina was definitely one my radar for quite some time. Fast forward to this valentine's day, my husband bought me two boxes of Sugarfina. It was my first time trying it out. It's cute, gorgeous, and colorful - perfect for gifts to others. But let's face it, these candies are overpriced. Their gummy bears are good but hey, I've had better ones with half of the price. They are some very innovative ones, like scotch cordials and cleanse gummy. Delicious as it is, you are definitely paying more on the packaging instead of the candies. I'd say shopping while there's big sale is more worth it. Anyway, I went to the Santana Row store to get a box of 8 as wedding gifts for my best friend. The associate was nice and friendly. We got plenty of samples and signed up for membership which got us another small pack for free. When we asked for my wrapping paper since we need to repack the box to ship it to China, the associate gave us a very generous amount. The shopping experience was very pleasant. Sugarfina is gorgeous when you walk past it. If I had unlimited funds for my wedding or a party, I would totally incorporate them into it. But unfortunately, sales are a rare occurrence unless you're purchasing out-of-season candies, which I've gotten before and it was simply delicious. No doubt, the candy is good but what draws you into this store is the aesthetics. But then you're slightly disappointed by the cashiers who are so engrossed in their conversation that they don't greet you. Even as you're perusing through all the beautiful candy, they don't always acknowledge you. On my most recent visit, I walked in, the two cashiers were busy with their conversation as I searched for a "Will you be my bridesmaid?" candy set. I just couldn't find it for some reason. I felt bad about interrupting their conversation but due to time constraints, I really needed to grab my item and leave. Sheepishly, I asked if they could help me locate the item and the girl who helped me was actually really nice and helpful. The transaction process exemplified good service. I think the initial impression you get from the store might not be the best but when the employees do assist you, they're professional and helpful. read more
