Let me tell you about the hidden gem that is Sugarfield Spirits in the Gonzales area. This place has been delighting locals for nearly four years and is an absolute must-visit spot if you're in the surrounding area. Even if you're from Baton Rouge, it's definitely worth the drive! I have to start by raving about their superb old fashion cocktail. It has instantly become my new favorite, and I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted drink. During my visit, Andrew was working, and is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and even took the time to give me a quick tour of the brewery. It was evident that he is passionate about what they do. One of the unique aspects of Sugarfield Spirits is that they make their own spirits - it's in the name. If you're looking for something different, they even have a purple vodka that will surely impress your friends when mixing drinks at home. It's always exciting to try something new and locally crafted. The tap room itself is wonderfully designed, featuring old cypress and tall ceilings. Despite its size, it still manages to maintain a comfortable and cozy atmosphere without being overly loud. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy your drink. What truly sets Sugarfield Spirits apart is its commitment to supporting the local community. By visiting this establishment, you're not only treating yourself to exceptional craft drinks, but you're also contributing to the growth and success of the local community. Thank you, Sugarfield Spirits, for providing such a wonderful experience and delicious drinks. You've truly become my go-to spot, and I can't wait to visit again soon.

I've seen this place on a foodie page I follow and it's not far from my home so I finally got around to trying it out. The staff we encountered tonight were the nicest people and they made some great drinks. This is a great place to kickback and have a drink with some friends or for a date night. It looks like they have food trucks or some nights but other nights they do not have food. I forgot to ask if you could bring something to munch on but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem but I will ask next time. The drink selection has a nice option of rum, vodka, Bourbon, and gin. My hubs is a bourbon fan and I'm a rum fan so it was nice to find a place that has options for both of us. They do offer a tour of their facility and they are very knowledgeable in their craft and don't mind answering any questions. This place is very nice and I highly recommend checking it out.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now but just haven't made the time. Really regret not coming by sooner! Punched the address in GPS and I was so surprised at how hidden yet centrally located this place is. Both the outside and the inside of the building have great style and ambience. I love that they are an actual functioning distillery and also grow their own herbs out front. Thomas was a fantastic bartender. There to answer questions give suggestions and chit chat. They are dog friendly which I love and even gave us a Cockertail (chicken stock) which was a hit. We tried the old fashioned, riff on manhattan. Gonzales mule and eggnog and loved every drink. Will return and soon, also excited to hear they are opening a brewery and winery right across the street. I will say there were no food options but they are okay with you bringing in your own sn

I love this place and my friends love this place. Allie whose the bartender is super friendly and excellent at what she does. They do a book club which is refreshing too. One building is cocktails and the other is beer and wine. Both sides are wonderful. You can buy a whole bottle of wine and get a tour. We have so much fun when we go. It's a little bit expensive on the liquor side when ordering a few drinks but it's worth it

Disclaimer: I don't work for Sugarfields but I do know these guys. Spirits: bourbon, rum, vodka. If you go to the store and pick your favorite bottle it should taste exactly the same if you get it in Louisiana or Florida. That's because it's mass produced and they do quite a bit to make sure that #7 is the same year after year. Nothing wrong with it. The motto "it's what you like to drink and how you like to drink it" applies. You won't find mass produced liquor at Sugarfields. What you will find is hand made craft spirits. When they say "locally sourced" ingredients they mean it. Ask them where the peaches, strawberries, sugarcane and honey they use in their spirits come from. They go directly to the farmers and sometimes harvest themselves. I've seen them hand cut sugarcane. Ask them how many bee stings they've taken to get the highest quality, freshest ingredients that go into their spirits. The proof of their work is in the spirits themselves. The only way for you to believe is to go and taste yourself. If you are an avid bourbon drinker the terms, single barrel, cask strength are familiar give this local drink a try. If you are an occasional bourbon drinker and want to experience something a couple steps above, here is your chance. Want to improve your tailgate? Here you go. Pour your uncle Bob a glass and see. They have a selection of rum, vodka and liqueurs. Check them out.

I was driving to another place to tour and noticed the sign near exit 179 on I-10 for this distillery and that they do tours. I stopped by before noon on a Saturday, and they weren't open yet, so I headed over to the place I was intending to visit. I stopped by on my way home. One of the two bartenders seemed dubious about a tour, and I am not sure why, but she went back and told the owner who said he wanted to finish the food his wife brought for him and that he would do it when he finished. I waited about 20 minutes, bought a piece of art, started talking to the bartender that remained about the alcohol they distilled here. Evidently, they use all locally sourced ingredients to make the alcohol. The bartender who had told me the owner would do the tour left. It was one bartender and one customer at the bar drinking. The owner came out, introduced himself to me, shook my hand and then focused on the guy at the bar. The bartender told him it was me who wanted the tour and he looked at me with very glassy eyes asking why I wanted the tour. He did take me back, started at one of the machines, then started talking about the bridges and how every bridge was at a certain height to allow for ships built for the open waters to come up, a rant about a bridge that goes nowhere and how one bridge in Baton Rouge was built too low to allow passage. It was all very weird. He then points out all of the steps in the process of distilling, and the many barrels they had of product that had been produced during the pandemic. I asked to take a picture of my gnome with the barrels, and he got excited and wanted to show me this guy who makes tiki glasses. This whole thing was just odd. I ended up not purchasing anything other than the art. Hearing the bartender talk, evidently, they do pretty good business.

Excellent cocktails and atmosphere with friends on a Sunday afternoon. Service was fantastic and we all left with gin to make our own "Bee's Knees".

These guys are passionate about what they do. We did a tasting with one of the owners, Andrew, and had an incredible experience. He tailored the tasting based on what we like and even gave us a few rare pours. We also took a tour and had a smoked gin old fashioned (AMAZING). Glencairn glasses are included with the tasting, and they are the perfect glasses for opening up your favorite bourbon. We walked away with a special release bourbon, gin, and merry lemon liqueur as our purchases. We'll be back. With friends. Well worth the trip from the Northshore.

A nice variety of seemingly traditional ciders that aren't too sweet or too fussy. Love the frozen cider drinks and the specialty cocktail. Their Kingfish theme is carried tastefully throughout the space with memorabilia, photos, signage and more. It's a great summer (or anytime) destination for Friday night trivia at 7 but they've hosted a few fun events including burlesque and pride gatherings. Large fans keep it cool in the summer and so do the cocktails!

We came here on a chilly middle of the week night and I ordered both the sampler and the hot cider. That hot cider hit the spot! It was warm and had all the cozy feelings a hot toddy should have. I did mention, I wished they had a few more hot drink options but I am really glad I had that one to taste. On to the sampler. I honestly can't remember the tastes of each but I remember there were two with bubbles and I had no idea cider had bubbles! Fun! One was a bit floral. One had a earthy flavor to it. One tasted like cider, nothing much added. And there was one that really dry. I think everyone should try all of them in order to see what they like. The setting is in a giant warehouse and I love that they do special events here and there. The night we went, there was a dog adoption and a percentage of the sales went to the non profit. They have plenty of parking out front. They have a little stage set up on the side for live music. Another bonus here, they sell Parish Beer that is a Lafayette beer that happens to be amazing! They have a few tables inside, picnic table style. They don't have a kitchen, but they sell charcuterie ingredients there for you to put together your own charcuterie plate. Oh and the person behind the bar was super friendly. I really enjoyed myself here and can't wait to come back!
