I was doubting the sugaring technique, especially with my densely covered furry legs! Nonetheless, through the teamwork of both Jessica and Mia, I believe they got my furry-ness levels in control! I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago and the hair has been slow to grow back. With regular waxing, my hair grows back within the week or following week depending on the weather. I am hooked on sugaring as I have extremely sensitive skin. Regular waxing gives me horrible ingrown hairs and red bumps all over my skin, just as shaving and epilation hair removal methods. Qui is the expert in 'exterior maintenance' her (facial) extractions feel like 'surface surgery' and she goes into the various 'crevices' of your face, not missing any nook or cranny. after the sessions I can feel my pores 'breathing' where they were clogged before. This was my first experience getting any hair removed. I came in for a brazillian, 7 months pregnant, and unable to maintain the growth on my own. Jessica explained to me that since it was my first time and I'm pregnant it may be a little bit too much so she would start off with just a bikini wax. My first time getting a sugar wax was a great experience. I've always been to European Wax Center, but it's always been a little over priced, and inconsistent with the waxers they give me. I usually get a Brazilian wax or a bikini full. My last experience at EWC was horrible, they've burned me and made my private area bleed. I had an uncomfortable feeling down there for 3 days, I couldn't be intimate or feel comfortable at all. That traumatized me to get a wax again. When I came to sugar spa, Veronica was my waxer. I explained to her my previous experience at another place and told her concerns so that she can be aware of how sensitive my body is. She listened very well and reassured me about the sugar waxing; about how it should feel, and that it shouldn't be too hot. She kept asking if I was OK. I felt no pain during my experience. Thank God I have had a first bikini sugaring experience or else I would never want to do it again. Today I had an appointment with Angela and just applying the sugar on my hair hurt but she didn't seem to care and was more focused on telling me to be careful because sugar could get all over me. I had to make her understand I'm not crying because it feels good but because it hurts. After I didn't let her talk to me like a schoolteacher, I could feel her being a little gentler which helped with the rest of the process. I've tried waxing in the past, and after sugaring- never again! I am a sugaring convert!! It hurts less and leaves your skin soft and smooth (instead of sticky). I've been going to Jessica for sugaring for a few months now. She is friendly, efficient, and does a great job! The prices are reasonable. The front desk staff is friendly. This is not a super fancy spa, but the waiting area is relaxing and they always have chilled water to drink. My only complaint is that the rooms lack a chair or other place for you to leave your clothing. They only have hooks on the walls. read more

If you want hair removal, especially in sensitive skin areas, Sugar Spa is what the Dr ordered. The sugar is warm, never hot. There is no "ripping" like there is with waxing. Had my Brazilian sugared for the very first time with Qui and Mia. I've never had my Brazilian waxed before so I was a little nervous as to what to expect. People say it hurts less than waxing but I had nothing to compare it to. My friend who has been going to Qui recommended that I try sugaring. It was a different experience. I am definitely happy with the results, soft and smooth! Qui is very good. She's quick and knows what she's doing. Mia is new so is a little slower, but that's expected and was very gentle. Both knew it was my first time so they were understanding. I was trying very hard not to flinch but it was hard at times because it's a different sensation and very personal. I've had my eyebrows and lip waxed before. The difference is sugaring is not hot like waxing and they don't use fabric strips, which hurt like a mother when it's being ripped off. With sugaring they roll sugar on top of the unwanted hair, the consistency of the sugar is like taffy, they let it set and dry for a little bit and then pull it off. It's better if you come in with the hair a little longer so that the sugar can pick it up with more ease. Would definitely recommend sugaring and come back to have it done again. Spa is really cute. Located in downtown mountain view, next to the Tapioca express. There is plenty of parking space in the lot behind it. Clean and staff is super friendly. I had gone to Sugar Spa for waxing and I had a very bad experience with them. Firstly, the waxing was not so professionally done, the lady was on a rush and was thinking more about the next appointment. I developed rashes on my skin and it was very painful After such a bad experience I realized that I had been overcharged when I closely looked at my receipt and bank statement. When I went back to get my money back, they were extremely rude to me and threatened me that they will call cops. This is easily the worst experience of my life when it comes to waxing and I have been waxing for over 20 years. These guys have become very arrogant because of reviews that they have got. Very pleasant experience! I'd had a Brazilian sugaring with Jessica at their San Jose location and loved it so much that I followed her here for a tues appt. I booked a week in advance and was seen 15 min early. The location is fairly easy to find with lots of parking (however, beware of the crowded lunch hour). The sugar spa has a neat, welcoming front room and you are offered a glass of water when you are greeted. The place is kept very clean and calm background music creates a comforting ambiance. I've waxed before and will never go back after I tried sugaring! It leaves the skin so smooth and exfoliated! The hair also grows back more sparse, prolonging the next visit. It's not any less painful to me but leaves better results. Jessica is very skilled at what she does. She's knowledgable about the whole process and cares about your experience. Went to this place for the first time this morning and Qui took care of my brazilian. She was super quick and lovely to talk to, such a chill personality while totally professional. Obviously, this is a slightly painful process, especially when you haven't been continuously sugaring. But Qui took so much off at once and made each pull really count, so it was over before I knew it. She also gave me skincare tips and advised me to buy exfoliating gloves, which I can't wait to try! I recently moved to San Jose from San Diego. I started getting sugared in San Diego about 2 years ago, so I was eager to find a new place up here. Unfortunately there weren't many options, but I was happy when I came across Sugar Spa. Though it's in Mountain View, it's worth the 20 minute drive. I've seen Jessica, Qui, and Mia, and they've all done a great job. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the price. I was used to paying less in San Diego, meaning I was getting sugared more frequently, but now I go less often. She rushed through with service even though there were 11mins of my appointment time left by the time she was done. All the while she kept complaining about my sugaring taking longer than usual. I have done the waxing and even laser treatment for hair removal. They both work, but waxing: it's messy, hot, and just uncomfortable! Laser: expensive and u have to do alot of sessions to really have the hair stop growing completely! Each session is abt $300 or more per session...( clinics say u need up to 5 sessions, so do the math!!)So when my friend told me abt sugaring, I had to try! Just got done w my Brazilian sugaring w Mia. She was very gentle and put pressure to minimize pain. I was surprised on how fast the procedure was. This was my 2nd time having this procedure done. I was told by Mia that if I continue going that my hair will grow back finer and it will be a lot less painful. This was so true the pain was alot less Painful the 2nd time around.
