Thanks, fellow Yelpers, for sending me to Magic Morning Bakery. The 5 star rating for this little…read morebakery is well deserved. There were many patrons going in and out with bags of donuts when I arrived early morning. I needed a treat to take to an event and, of course, I found out last minute. The shop is pristine and simple. The cases were filled with amazing donuts, cookies and cakes. There was so much to chose from. Those cream pies were incredibly tempting. I opted for a tray of turtle brownies. The brownies were smothered in caramel and nuts. The chocolate brownies was the consistency of a rich fudge. Needless to say, the brownies disappeared fast, so fast that I didn't have a chance to get a photo. The service was quick and friendly and I was off in a flash. Prices are incredibly reasonable. I plan on trying those iconic cookies on my next visit. I highly, recommend.

I have been generally dissatisfied with donuts in Indiana. These are the best I've found so far,…read morebut they're not perfect. I'll give them credit for being fresh-fried and having a good dough flavor. The apple fritter was particularly good, with nice big chunks of apple. However, I found some of the donuts (especially the glazed) to be too soft, and many donuts had so much sweetness in the dough that it was overwhelming when taken together with the glaze. They definitely deserve their reputation and their regular crowd, but I don't think I'd make a special trip from Bloomington.

If I could give Harvest six stars, I would. We were passing through town, and we'd searched for…read morebakeries to stop at. We got there about ten minutes before it was supposed to close. The owner was absolutely charming. The raspberry cinnamon roll my wife bought was made with raspberries picked in the owner's back yard. We also got some great asiago rolls. We will never pass through Terre Haute without checking to see if Harvest is open, and anyone reading this should do the same.

This review is way overdue, so my apologies for tardiness…read more Mark your calendar and start the clock. If you want to dive into this bake shop, you have 6 hours on Friday's to stop in and indulge in your bread fix. The Harvest Bakery retail store is open from 9am-3pm on Fridays....only Friday. The ladies of this bakery are super sweet. While I am standing there at 9:20am of course on a Friday, a flurry of regulars come in and grab English muffins and cookies and are talking bread. I am thinking "am I too late?....are all the English muffins gone?...are they that special?" After speaking with Marta and Amelia who are working there, I come to discover that this is a family business. Harvest Bakery opened in 2008. They sell primarily to restaurants and markets in the area (this is basically what keeps them busy on the other six days of the week I suppose). The bakery itself is basically a simple storefront. It looks like an old school kitchen in the front and a commercial kitchen in the back. The ambiance is Hautian charming, but also says "buy your baked goods and leave." This is the kind of off the beaten path spots I enjoy discovering. Loaves of bread (whole wheat, white, seed), loaves of swirl bread (cinnamon raisin, mocha chip, bacon cheddar), bagels (plain, asiago, blueberry), quiche, cookies (peanut butter, chocolate chippers, thumbprint) and did I mention the sourdough. They make their own sourdough (multigrain, rye, gold N white). They have a big chalkboard showing all the goods posted in the inside of the store when you walk in. I am advised that the cinnamon roles have not yet properly risen, so of course I wait an hour and return. Worth the wait.... I walked out after the nicest conversation with Marta and Amelia with all sorts of baked goods to share with my parents. The sourdough, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon raisin bread and English muffins I am still remembering so well all these weeks later (but absolutely all items were delicious and I mean that). Those English muffins are ridiculously delicious....a bit insane and unexpected. Thick, fuffy and they toast up just perfect at home in my toaster. It certainly seems like those patrons that walked in when I arrived picking up English muffins are on to something. I am advised that you can call and order ahead of time (if they are only open one day a week, you want to make sure that they don't sell out of those English muffins, right?) Everything was also so reasonably priced. What a delight to discover Harvest Bakery. I hope to be back when visiting my folks in Terre Haute. Maybe I should make sure to always be in town to include a Friday. If they were open to the public for more than 6 hours on one day in a week, my review would have been a 5. But make no mistake, a Yelp worthy establishment to visit.

This is listed as Amish, but it isn't as authentic as the one in Eckerty. However, it is a great…read morediner. They have a buffet, although you are allowed to order off of a menu. The buffet is the obvious choice, though. The buffet itself is extraordinary. On Friday, you can usually have frog legs, and that is a treat. There is also a vry good shrimp and rice dish usaully there, and fried fish, along with other entrees. I've usually seen about four different vegetable sides, but the green beans have meat in them, so if you want meaty veggies, you're in luck. There is usually corn and some greens. There are plenty of sides to choose from. The salad bar is very good. A lot of options. Caesar dressing isn't one of the four or five available ones in the containers, but they do have Caesar and other dressings in packets. The desserts are not that great, although they do have some very good soft serve ice cream. The blueberry pie is that mush in a packet. Here is where you can tell it isn't really authentic Amish, but it is still a very good restaurant. The service is good and friendly. They dress Amish, but it is more Americanized than real Amish places. I do recommend it. It's pretty expensive, but worth the price. You are treated to a good view of the lake, if they let you have a window table, but those are often taken. The other tables sit out in the open, and I never feel comfortable that way, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. There are expensive store items to buy, too. I never tried them. things like soap, candles, the usual restaurant store items. It's almost always very crowded. Often, there is a long line. The food is very good, and it is a popular place. Restrooms are dirty and sometimes out of order, which is why I don't give this five stars. I hope that they address this some day.

The views of the West Boggs Lake were nice. Water was very green but beautiful. Food was delicious Fried Chicken, Roast Beef, Tenderloin, Mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, stuffing, noodles, carrots, homemade bread/rolls and if you're into it they had chicken livers/ gizzards. The salad bar had a solid fresh selection of items. The desserts were tasty as well. Ice Cream and Pies. We got Pecan and Peanut Butter pies and they were fantastic. So good we forgot to take pictures. A nice place to stop by if you're passing through or visiting the Boggs camp ground. Could have been a 5 with more options but that is really the only drawback. Go visit for yourself!!
