This was a nice little spot I visited while home to see my parent for Thanksgiving. It's a family owned business and the bartender/brew offeror was super personable. My dad and I tried the teriyaki meatballs which tasted good (and not that I know anything g about food, I think a glaze would be yummier than a broth-like sauce). Overall, tasty food, good beer and a chill place to catch up!

Sugar Run is a very cute brewery located in a very unsuspecting place in Duncansville! I visited for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor, great food, and of course, the variety of beer and cocktails. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The location is in a former garage and has a bar and both indoor and outdoor seating. There's a wide selection of their own drafts as well as spirits and wine from local makers. Their food menu has a variety of sandwiches, salads, and tacos - I highly recommend the chickpea tacos!

EXCELLENT service , atmosphere, beer and food!!!! We walked into a busy bar and were actually greeted and welcomed by the owner ( which is such a nice touch) I had the dark flight and I actually loved every beer in the flight !! Also had the pork tacos and they are delicious! Great find with a cool vibe , we can't wait to return!!

Maybe because it was the holidays but they might have been short staffed. It took quite some time to receive our food but we got a basket of breadsticks to munch on while waiting for our entrees. The kids menu pizza is a pretty decent sized pizza and comes with a cookie. The fried zucchini was loved by all and served with a side of horseradish sauce. It was flat slices of zucchini that was breaded. The zucchini still maintained some structure so it was not super greasy nor floppy like in some places. Breadsticks have a hint of garlic and they were warm and soft when they arrived. The crab rangoon pizza was sampled and loved by all. It has a crab dip, crispy wonton strips, and a drizzle of sweet chili sauce (it's sweet and barely any heat). Definitely need to try their pizzas here. The crust appears thin but holds up well, even with leftovers. The adult grilled cheese is very flavorful and filling! It comes with a dipping sauce. I eat a lot and filled up with just half the sandwich (but I did have fried zucchini and a couple breadsticks while waiting).

Reading reviews and some magazine articles, I was drawn to this place when visiting (a very barren…read moreand depressing, but historically important, downtown of) Altoona during the holidays. Cutting to the chase, the brown ale was good, definitely merits the 4+ ratings on beer sites, no doubt. Brewery part of the stop was well-executed. Food took things in a very wrong direction.... Concern being that I ordered a simple mac n' cheese (I guess "large" size - $13.50, what?), adding some "famous pulled pork," which ended up being $16.50 or something along those lines - I received a MICRO, emphasizing MICRO order of mac n' cheese in a small bowl that probably cost them $1.25 to make - great, flavors were just very average and they seemed to be all jazzed that it came with chopped jalapeno on the top. Fancy, y'all. Cost-wise, one pint of beer and this incredibly tiny meal cost over $30, post-tip (still hooked them up) in a dead downtown that frankly needs all the business it can get. Got gas one the outskirts and the strip malls are absolutely surging, which would usually be a major bummer for me, but honestly not in this case after getting econo-slammed. I was honestly shocked there weren't those neon signs in cursive that said stuff like "chow down, chug down," grass on the vertical wall, and other basic things, but I was probably too preoccupied by the fact that every table had "hold for reservation" and I wasn't pointed to sit places, with the bar being full and all, until I asked. Summary - MID, MID, MID food that's in small portions that is an absolute shill in 2025, in a community that's on it's downside economically. So frustrating that places like this are highly-touted.

It's very family friendly so expect lots of kids and not a lot of supervision. The food I've had was fine- it's a brewery so I don't expect fine dining. The beer is mid from what I'm told. Due to this, they only had fans to keep cool while circulating the outdoor air. Since we had our pup with us, we were only able to sit in the patio area, but it's not like the "indoor" area was really indoors. Anyways, I wasn't in the mood for drinking, so just had some lunch here. There's two restaurants combined at the food counter (which used to be food trucks here). You can get pizza from pizza and subs from Flo Bros Pizza and wings, burgers and sandwiches from Marin Eats. I had the Crabcake Sandwich ($15) with Tots (+$2). The sandwich was solid and tots were crispy. It's a nice space to hang out with a group. There are pinball machines, cornhole, and games for entertainment. It's nicely situated next to a creek, so you get a bit of nature too.

We came in to get drinks to go with our food (we got food from the food truck outside "Firebox"). The food from Firebox was good and it was a generous portion for the price. The drink options that were not beer were limited, and half of those options on the menu weren't available. My partner got the berry chocolate stout and said it was "pretty good". We hoped to sit outside, but the only available table had broken glass all over it from a busted door. It does have convenient parking and I liked the industrial decor. The service was good and the lady was very nice. One thing I will point out is that one of our glasses had pink lipstick on it from a previous customer. But if you only want beer and a place to chill - it might be just right for you.

I also appreciate the ample outdoor seating available. Always a big plus for me, even if the outdoor area is really just tables set up on the sidewalk overlooking the parking lot - as it is in this case. The service was fine. It wasn't crazy busy there but the bartender had a little edge to her like we were more on an annoyance than a patron. They have a refill club where you can buy a mug and get your name printed on it with discounted refills. Again I appreciate that kind of thing, but the bartender seemed way more interested in some of the regulars than us. Just the vibe she gave off that night I guess. And lastly the beer...it's solid. Not great, but solid. Lots of darker beers which is fine for me personally, but the darks outnumbered the IPAs, pilsners, etc the night we were there. I'd expect a little more variety. Still, it's good enough that I'd go back next time I'm in Cumberland, but not so good that I'd make a special trip out of my way. My scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive up to 30 minutes just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here
