This manicure turned out so beautiful. There were two girls who worked on my nails and fixed a botched manicure that injured me at another nail salon 2 weeks ago. They were gentle and skilled, and I really appreciated the quiet and clean environment. They were up front about every cost and worked with every request needed! Such a redeeming experience from one that nearly traumatized me but I know there are good nail techs out here like them. Thanks so much I'll be back! If I could give this zero reviews I would. I went in to get a SNS manicure and my eyebrows wax. The lady that did my manicure did great, I love how they turned out. However as I was getting my eyebrows done, the lady left in the middle of the service to grab another employee. When the second employee arrived they handed me a mirror and informed me that the lady who waxed my eyebrows took half of my eyebrow off. They made it seem like it was not a big deal and "would not charge me for the service." So now with half of my eyebrow completely gone I had to go spend more money in order to fix it because she messed it up. The aesthetician I saw at Ulta told me to watch the area to make sure it does not get infected because that much trauma to the brow can be damaging. Which no one at Sugar Polish informed me of. I want to give this place a better review because the nail tech did such a fabulous job with my french tips, but the gentleman who did my pedicure tore a huge cuticle split into the side of my toe and it bled quite a bit. He at least treated it for infection but it was messed up for almost 3 weeks. When I asked for recompense on the damage they gave me a measly 10% off of just the pedicure (which was not even $5). I get we all have to make our buck, but I would not recommend this place to someone else. They really need to readjust their customer satisfaction policies and be stricter on which employees are allowed to work on clients. The discount was given reluctantly, by the way. The receptionist tried to tell me they couldn't at first because the manager wasn't on-site, but with a little pressure they buckled and made a phone call which resulted in a 10% discount off of my pedicure. I understand as much as anyone that mistakes do happen, but am I wrong in thinking that at least the pedicure should have been totally free with this kind of damage? read more

I don't want to speak for all the other nail techs but the individual that I had was very rough and I only came in for a SNS removal. He proceeded to cut all of my nails then get a fake tip and wedge it in between my nail and the sns to tear it off. When I told him it hurt multiple times he nodded but still continued. I eventually had to suggest that he just drill then soak my nails because my nails were too thin. He then proceeded to ask me if I'm always this sensitive because he does this to everybody else and they do not jump the way I do... As I walk out I check one of my nails because it was still hurting and it is split in half because of him wedging the fake nail in between my nail and it tore my natural nail in half. After a pleasant experience at the Sugar Polish location in Wire Park, I decided to give the one downtown a try. I asked the nail specialist not to use the drill to remove my gel, but she assured me it was just to scuff up the surface and that she would soak it off. She ended up hitting the skin around my nail. Nails turned out okay for 2 hours of sitting through soaking off my other set and redoing acrylics. The gel could've been thicker since it seemed a bit patchy but I had already been sitting for 2 hours and I just didn't want to sit through another coat so that's my fault. Would I come here again? My daughter and I went in for a mani/pedi. I just got regular polish. It is all peeling off and it has only been about 6 hours since I was in there. The polish must be old because they were adding liquid to it so they could finish painting. For the price I paid, the polish should have lasted at least a couple of days. My daughter had S&S so hers are obviously fine. We both felt like the girls doing our pedicures were a little rough. We will not be back. Very disappointed. read more

Tech started off as if I was just getting a polish- when I contested that I also wanted a manicure he stuck my hands in bags and vanished for 30 minutes. Well today 11/25/2020, will be my last time visiting Sugar Polish in Athens. I moved here in March of this year and made this nail salon my home as I was able to identify a good tech for my pedicures and nails. Mary Ann and Tiffany/Alice. They all do great work. I ALWAYS make an appointment. Today is the day before thanksgiving and I made an appt for 4:30pm. My experience today was horrible. And I just mean disgusting. I was so uncomfortable. My service was very rushed and overcharged today for whatever reason. Mary Ann, who I always talk with and enjoy, decided to be very rude. And she told me that they only cut "ingrowns" during a pedicure as a courtesy and I needed to see a specialist. WOW! There is nothing wrong with me, but I'd never argue so I said okay and moved on. She was extremely Starky and rude. I ended up being the last person in the salon and the hostess was watching me the whole time. She even came over and asked me how I was paying. Like what?? If you wanted to go home so bad, why accept my 4;30pm appointment? Alice did my nails and I always get a simple design and it's a few dollars. Today, she decided to charge me $20 just for a design and said it was because of "how hard it was to do". Y'all, I got lines lmao. That's it. The service was overall very poor. I was so uncomfortable. They charged me an extra $20 for 2 broken nails. Smh. Like I said, I've been here every two weeks since March. This is the experience that has ensured I never return. The attitudes, the demeanors, were just disgusting. I'm most disheartened by Mary Ann and the ridiculous up charges I received but never again. I normally pay $70, including my $10 tip. You only have one time to show me this type of behavior. I will be discouraging my Friends and anyone i know from going. I will be finding a new salon. Fabulous!!! We will definitely be back ! My friend and I enjoyed a much deserved deluxe pedicure!!! Ahhhh....relaxing massage chair, and great service! As we were first timers (walk-ins), we paid for parking outside and upon signing in noticed that they asked for your car tag. Turns out, you don't have to pay fur parking, they cover it! Great to know for next time. Salon was extremely clean, staff was very pleasant, very relaxing and enjoyable. They offered us something to drink. We had water. :) The deluxe pedicure (not sure if that's the official name) included a hot stone leg massage and a paraffin wax treatment on your feet. Watch out, the wax is hot at first, but they will cool it down if needed. My friend could handle the heat, I needed it a little cooler..wimp!). Customer service & technician attention to detail is nothing like it was when they first opened. The techs try to force you get something that they feel would be better for you, regardless of how you feel. All the ladies who do eyebrow waxes do a poor job; each eyebrow is unsymmetrical. I went in for a fill. Alice the tech was very rude and was upset that I didn't want my nails Dremel due to painful nails and poor nail strength which I have been battling for the last year. All the other techs have understood and been very kind, but this time it wasn't the case. She was impatient and seemed annoyed with me. It made the whole experience very upsetting. Also, today (24 hrs later) the paint started chipping and cracking. I also told her that the edge on some fingers was angled and the shape was wrong. She told me that it was not the nail, but the finger that was crooked. I have never had this issue with any of the other techs before and they have shaped very nicely before. Hii this is about my 5th time coming here and honestly I have liked it ! I have not noted if every time I come and get a pedicure they rip open plastic packaging of their tools like the 2 scrubbers,toe separator and a nail file but this time I did just cause it was loud when she opened, hopefully the last times I came they had new products cause I did not notice . But I am glad I saw this lady pull out new tools, as one other salon i've been to in Athens have literally used a nail file on me and thrown it back in their tool carrier ! I like the inside of the salon its aesthetics are nice and it is super clean always ! Most of the employees don't give me "i'm talking shit about you" vibes which is great lol ! If you're reading this I would stop by to check it out ! One thing you need to watch out though for is the pesky parking guy who will boot your car if you don't register your parking ASAP once you're inside the salon . I had been going to this salon for two years. Their work started to get worst and worst as time went by. But I was still loyal despite that nails were only starting to last a week. Last time I got my nails done here was July 4th weekend. I called the day I got them done bc they were cracking already they said to come in Monday to fix it. I couldn't bc of work and they were closed all weekend. I called 9 days after I had my nails done bc I couldn't take the terrible woke and it was only one nail that was completely broken the rest were cracked. They agreed to to fix it the following day they called me and the customer service I received through the phone was not it. I do not recommend a location where they just treat you like a number where they rush to get you out bc their pay is based on commission. If I am Paying for service I do not want to be called "that girl" on the phone. The receptionist didn't ven care to mute herself when she was talking about me with her manager. In town for the week and needed a pedicure. Read reviews for as many salons as I could and picked this one. The prices are higher than what is shown on photo someone posted recently although I was simply handed the "menu" and asked what I wanted as nicely as possible. I chose the Signature pedicure which was $35. This is the same that I pay for a "spa" pedicure with less where I'm from AND I wanted the extra message. I kid you not the tech spent 20 minutes massaging my calves and feet. It was a good solid 5 on each side during the OPI scrub and another 5 on each side with lotion. She asked if I wanted my nails cut and I did. I also asked for short and round. She did what I asked. Do not let them remove your acrylic nails! I had a great experience with my acrylics being put on, but they clearly don't know how to remove them. They repeatedly jammed a plastic nail under my acrylics to tear it off by brute force. This ended up in tearing my nails off right at the quick, and on my left hand pink, cracking my nail bed to the point of it bleeding underneath my nail and cracking it from the center. I'm unable to tear it off since the crack is not even half way up my nail. It will take months for it to grow back. I am horrified at my nails now, especially my cracked and bleeding pinky, which I'll have to keep bandages until the new nail grows back due to the crack/tear in it. The lady who was removing the acrylics just jumped when she tore my nail off and tried patting it back in place! Paid full price with just a "sorry" at my cracked, torn and bleeding nails. read more

This is a gorgeous nail salon with modern furnishings. Customer service was excellent and the wait wasn't terribly long for a Friday afternoon. I went for SNS and pedi and both technicians did a fine job. Prices are reasonable. Overall, a great experience. My only quibble, and thus leading to the loss of a star is that their SNS is not particularly sanitary. All I could think of was how many other fingers, washed and unwashed, had been dipped into that jar of powder prior to my visit. Just relax and try to enjoy the leg massage, I said to myself. But the germaphobe in me wouldn't allow it. In the past, I have liked this place, but with my most recent experience I am not so sure. The man who did my nails was extremely frantic and fast moving--my nails were done before my friend, who started getting hers done at the same time, even began to get hers painted! He seemed to be rushing rapidly for some reason, but there was not even a wait or an overly crowded salon, so I was a bit confused. He was moving so quickly that the experience was honestly quite painful, and he ended up cutting me. He told me the color I got would be opaque, which it ultimately wasn't. There are also little fuzz hairs stuck in between polish layers of multiple of my nails which is really gross. My nails honestly just look mangled and as if I had done them myself rather than getting them done at a salon. Very disappointing considering these are now my nails for a formal event :/ read more

I have come here for SNS for the past year and have never had such a horrible experience EVER. The man who did my nails was extremely rough with the file and drill and I said three times that it was hurting and I was clearly bleeding and nothing changed. After my nails were finished they were clumpy and not cleaned up around. I've had a bad set before which is unfortunate but not the end of the world but both of my hands are in severe pain still (the morning after) with cuts. Alright so I made my appointment literally 30 min before and I got quick respond- that's why I give 1 star. That's the good thing about this salon. Welcome service is fine, like almost everywhere in GA. I picked my color, got seated to the table, I got a man taking off my old acrylics (what costed me $5 extra) which is fine, that's almost every nail salon doing that. So he put my nails to soak for 2 min like he said, 20 min later I asked lady from front desk to call someone to finish my nails and he came, with attitude already. He asked me why I took my hands of those bags full of liquid I said because after 20 min soaking them together with my skin it started to burn. He was it happy. I wish I could take picture of my hands in that moment. So he told me to soak them more, and left again. 5 min later came girl to finish my nails. Hour later I was done. My total was $50 When I asked to tell me what was for $42 full set, $5 for removing old one and $3 FOR SHAPE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Just because I'm not from here, doesn't mean you can still from me.
