We are from out of town and we're looking for food that was on the lighter, healthier side. We chose Sugar Mamas based on just an online glimpse of the menu. Driving up, the restaurant looked fresh, clean, Homie, and adorable! When we arrived, we are quickly accommodated, even though it looked like it was going to be a busy evening. We were seated at a gorgeous pink table for two. The wait person immediately and took our drink, order, rapidly returning for our food order. Everything came out super fast and precisely as ordered. We ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade, the hummus wrap, and the quesadillas, all of which were beyond incredible! Everything is fresh, healthy, and perfectly seasoned! Sugar Mama's is by far my favorite place to eat in Anacortes! The food is DELICIOUS. It tastes like homemade if you could really make it that good at home. You can tell everything is made from scratch and with care. I have tried many of the menu items, and have loved each one. Their soups are amazing. I once read that a great chef once said, if you can make a good soup, you are an excellent cook. Judging by their soups alone, Sugar Mama's is outstanding. Their bakery items are addicting. I love all their cookies, and their cakes are scrumptious. And IMHO, they make hands down the BEST coffee in town. The staff at Sugar Mama's are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They treat you like you are family. They are welcoming and kind, and make you feel really happy and comfortable, so you enjoy your food even more. The ambiance is perfect. In the winter, you can be cozy inside with the fireplace going and a delicious latte. In the summer, you can relax on the deck and enjoy a delicious mocktail. They also serve wines and other beverages. I love this place so much. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit! read more

Such a cute and cozy place with wonderful and kind staff members! Felt super welcomed here the moment we walked in. My favorite dish was the biscuits & gravy and tex mex mac & cheese! The crispy bits on top of the mac and cheese complimented the dish really well! I'm also typically not a fan of biscuits and gravy but I think this dish made me like it way more than I typically do! The cappuccino was just okay, honestly the latte art being a blob did not bother me at all in fact I thought it was gave it some personality haha. I did feel the service was a little slow considering there werent many people. Overall though I did enjoy my experience here and will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Don't sleep on this place! What a phenomenal find! We came in on a Sunday morning before heading out to explore. I'm weird about my coffee and theirs is really great. We grabbed several pastries and coffees to go and were not disappointed. If you aren't quite awake when you order your coffee, be on alert...the coffee cup lid pops off suddenly . Tried brunch here today and this place did NOT disappoint!! I had the grilled cheese egg sandwich, mimosa, and latte...let me tell you that brunch sandwich was THE best thing I have tasted in a LONG time! It was flavors bursting in your mouth delicious! We lucked out and stumbled on this place by accident. So glad we did! Excellent from the service to the food. I had the hummus plate and everything was so fresh! The house made hummus was some of the best hummus i have ever had, pita was soft and warm, crudite was crunchy. Just perfection. My husband had the wedge salad and the bacon was perfect as well. Outdoor patio is great in the summer for an evening glass of wine and the new addition of outdoor heaters should make this a cozy spot for a night under the stars. Our service was impeccable. We had some wine and decided to try the sandwiches to share. Food was delicious and easily shared. Oh golly. This was the perfect place for an afternoon snackie to have a glass of wine, or just a snack with friends while going to the farmers markets and putzing around Anacortes. The lemon cheesecake was a good mix of tart sour and sweet decadent cheesecake. The cranberry whipped cream thing? So good. The piping was gorgeous. It looked like cherry blossoms. We got the deviled eggs. We couldn't decide which one so we got the mixed item. The Bloody Mary eggs were spicy and had good crunch while the Boursin cheesey ones were savory and rich tasting. The pickles gave it a good satiation feeling at the end. My sis got a glass of wine, that she enjoyed. We ordered a grilled cheese for a preschooler nephew and he ate the whole thing! And that came out super quick for the kiddo. The service was great. Super nice. The restaurant is cozy and modern. It would be a good place to take yourself out for a date and bring a nice book and treat yourself to some snackies. The server was gracious, welcoming, and enthusiastic about the restaurant and the food. We both loved our brunch dishes - I had the best grilled cheese sandwich of my life - a breakfast version - described as, "Crunchy sourdough filled with a blend of melted gouda, cheddar, and Jarlsberg cheeses, a layer of fluffy scrambled eggs, and our homemade spicy tomato jam." It is a brilliant and unforgettable combination. My boyfriend agreed it was phenomenal. He loved his quesadillas as well. I am so impressed with the owner Natalie - besides being an incredible chef and business-owner - she shows a lot of heart, humor and leadership in creating community and welcoming all.
