They have a restaurant which does not have a fryer. It's too bad, because I think that if they could do some fried seafood, or french fries they would have the perfect menu!

The staff were friendly and continued to check up on us during our stay. The beach bar was super convenient. The drinks were beyond fairly priced and the bartender, Amber, was so pleasant. She made me another drink no charge after I knocked over the first one. They had the BBQ restaurant open while we were there, but they started running out of meats before 12:30. We ordered around 12:45 and they were already out of smoked turkey and chicken wings. We had the pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, and corn on the cob. The smoked meats and bbq sauce were nothing short of amazing. The bbq was delicious, flavorful, and juicy. The bbq sauce was my preferred type - vinegar based and a little spicy. The mac and cheese was ok. Nothing crazy to report. The corn on the cob was seasoned appropriately and was eaten before the meat was finished. I would make this cay a go to spot every single time I visit STX.

GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS…read more Renting a condo in St. Croix was the best idea since it's like living in a home while you're on vacation. The Sugar Beach Condos are located just 5 minutes north of Christiansted, but about 25 minutes from the airport. Luckily a driver from the Olympic Rental picked us up at the airport. The check in at the condos was quick, and we were in our unit within minutes. It was a comfortable one bedroom with kitchen, laundry facilities, and a nice veranda overlooking Buck Island, Gallows Bay and Christiansted. The location is great, even though there were tenement apartments about half a mile away. But the condo was positioned so that you always get the trade winds. In our 9 days we used the AC only one day, did two loads of laundry, and two loads in the dishwasher. The king size bed was comfortable, and the sleeper sofa was convenient for guests. There was a pool and club house, but we never used it. The beach is just outside the veranda, and some units have direct access to the water. Parking is convenient and the grounds were well kept. My only qualm is living with furniture that's dated and a very small and dark bathroom. I would definitely return and perhaps try another unit, maybe a studio at half the cost for the 1 bedroom.

Excellent accommodations -- me and my family stayed at the Sugar Beach Condos for a six night stay…read more Leslie and her husband made the trip enjoyable and comfortable. Our condo held 6 people, two in the master bedroom, and four in the extra room (with a pullout bed). Both rooms were welcoming and nicely decorated. We had two bathrooms in out our condo, the master bathroom had two sinks, a large jacuzzi, shower and a toilet. The other bathroom had everything but the tub. We had enough TP for a few days, and then needed to go out and buy more. We also ran out of soap and lotion, so we ended up buying a bottle at the store. No cleaning service came, so we had to fend for ourselves, which meant we also had to wash and dry the towels they gave us. The kitchen was spacious, a large full sized island, coffeemaker, dishwasher, and refrigerator, just excellent! The owners provided us with all the needed utensils (forks, knives, spoons, plates, etc). We ate at home for most of our meals. Each room is secured with a numeric padlock and a screen. Our back patio had an excellent view of the beach. The beach and pool accommodations were outstanding! White sand beaches, hammocks, lounge chairs, and kayaks (if they came in your rental). A historic sugar mill leans over the beautiful pool, the pool was very large, but had no hot tub. Tennis courts were available on the outskirts of the property, but as of March 2019 were not in service and very rundown. The security staff, although small, was nice and friendly. A great place to stay for a family of 2-6, wonderful! Thanks Leslie!

We decided to splurge a bit but felt that the pictures online look nothing like the actual rooms…read more The common spaces are beautifully decorated, but the sleeping rooms are very old, small, musty, covered in bugs, and loud. While some bugs are to be expected, there were bugs in the fridge, on light fixtures, and crawling around the floor. Most importantly, we found it very hard to get a good nights sleep due to all of the noise. The fire alarm went off two mornings in a row, multiple times per day. One was at 5:30 am. One was at 7:30am. Way too early for vacation! Staff said there was nothing they could do about it but made it sound like this does happen regularly due to a sensitive fire system and guests that smoke, kitchen cooking, etc. We also were in a hallway with a door and it was slamming open and shut all night with traffic. As far as the onsite restaurants, I would recommend the HH at the speakeasy Breakers Roar Tiki Bar (6-8). The coffee shop Virgin Islands Coffee Roasters was overpriced and only average. The Mexican restaurant El Leon had good drinks, and was ok for breakfast but they really had a hard time with food allergies/modifications. Good location on the boardwalk, we had to drive around to find street parking a couple times and construction closes the roads nearby frequently, but it's nice to walk. Expect many restaurants and shops nearby to be closed if it's a weekday, or no cruise ship around, etc.

The units we were assigned too were dirty and I do not say this easily, we tried being patient…read morewhen our first room was infested with roaches, had dirty socks on the porch and someone else's shaving blade cover in the bathroom, office was closed that night so we slept with lights on and completely disgusted. The next morning I called the office as soon as it was open when I went to clerk, I told them my concerns the clerk reassured me that our next room would be better; however, the second unit ac was not working and although we asked at least four different times no one ever fixed it, there was black mold everywhere, we expected the air conditioner to be working when we returned from Burch but it was not and although we reached out to the staff no one ever came to fix it. To add we were also told on our third day, only after inquiring that the internet was down & therefore the tv would not work. I actually have pictures of all the mold, the room was so unbearable we had to stay on the beach or visit family to avoid the room the whole visit and after finding mold behind the bed we had to vacate the unit in the middle of the night. It was my husband birthday weekend and it was an absolute nightmare. To add I've been a RN for 15 years and the risk of getting sick from staying in either of those units was high. I have stayed at all types of locations on St. Croix and this was the worst place we have ever experienced anywhere.

Well when we made our way to the room everything looked run down not like the pictures on hotels.com, where we booked our stay. There wasn't room in their parking lot to park, so we had to park in the grass, no biggy! We walked to the room and that's when the devastation took place! We couldn't lock the door, had to push it hard to close, the circuit box looked like a fire was about to start at any moment! The way stuff was plugged up, more major hazards. The outside of the property had a huge ditch dug around it. The main light in the room didn't work, the safe wouldn't unlock so we had to get a key. There were no beach loungers, we were told to drag ours from the room to the beach but bring it back before night fall. Told my husband that I just couldn't stay there. Went to the front desk to check out and I explained everything to the lady and her reply was well do you want another room? No ma'am we shouldn't have been placed in that room to begin with! So please beware do not stay here! Still trying to get a refund but hotels.com said the property will not reply to them.
