Best cakes, bread, pizzas and cupcakes. We have been going to Sugar and Lace for years. In the past few years we have helped with 1,000's of cupcakes for teacher appreciation. Vanessa takes pride with all her fresh baked items. My husband will drive from Surprise for her fresh breads, he is hooked. If you want to try fresh baked good that a proud bakery owner puts her heart and soul into baking, you have come to the right place !! Keep up the GREAT work on your all your baked goods . Update: 4/10/25 The owner texted me calling me a liar that "You may not admit it to me, but it's not me you have to worry about if you believe in God, I'd worry about that". To use God on this manner is deplorable and not what faith is supposed to be. Again, very disappointing. Very bad experience. (Requested a 8" cake) Here were the instructions and a singular photo as an example for a quote per her request. Half German chocolate, chocolate cream frosting. Half lemon with raspberry filling and your cream cheese frosting. Slanted, not straight down the middle. Frosting no more than 1/4 in. Edible flowers pressed in and some sitting on the cake too. Long story short. She used that singular picture as an example to go off of. Ignored the instructions provided in text and her form that she asked I filled out. She only used the first picture sent as a reference. Then said I was lying when I said there was no German chocolate filling. It's a shame. Great flavors. When we tried to get a wedding cake from her a couple years ago we chose her because her flavors are great. Miscommunications and misunderstandings happen. There were mistakes on both ends, I owned mine (sending a picture that didn't accurately, in totality, depict what I wanted), but she made excuses and said I was lying. Unacceptable and disappointing. read more

I placed a custom order for a chocolate cake with white frosting and a butterfly theme after reviewing the bakery's photos and reviews. Due to dietary needs, I requested that the cake be sugar‑free, dairy‑free, and gluten‑free. The order was confirmed, and payment was made in advance. At pickup time, the bakery was closed, and I contacted someone from a nearby business in the strip mall who was able to open the shop so I could collect the cake. After eating the cake, I experienced itching, which is a reaction I personally associate with dairy exposure. To avoid making assumptions, I waited a day and later tried a very small amount again, with the same result.I'm not able to confirm which ingredients were used, and my communication with the bakery was otherwise pleasant. This review is shared for informational purposes only, so individuals with severe food allergies may want to ask detailed questions and take additional precautions when placing custom orders. read more

Saturday is a bad day to go here. Hardly anything was fresh, no bread and refrigerator case was empty. Might as well not open, plus got a lecture on how GOD was so important. Two mini Cupcakes were good, but nothing special. read more

This is a dangerous place! Nothing in this incredible shop is less than 5 stars and I find I cannot go in without getting something extra. Cakes are moist, flavorful, and decorated in such a way that there are always multiple compliments about the design before anyone even tastes. Even as a child, frosting has always been my downfall and Sugar and Lace has perfected the perfect buttercream (not too sweet). It's always been my favorite part. Then I had one of their raspberry filled cupcakes. These are just heaven. read more

Sugar and Lace is a wonderful bakery AND a great place to pop into for coffee and/or sweet treats! Vanessa (the owner) is great to work with, kind, creative and makes sure she understands what you are looking for. She created a beautiful (and delicious) cake for our event and a cupcake bouquet that was so beautiful that you almost didn't want to eat it... I say almost, because we did! And everyone who had the cupcakes said how amazing they were! Many of us hadn't seen cupcakes displayed this way (as a bouquet) and several said they would order those in the future, especially for Mother's Day, Easter, birthdays, and hostess gifts. Although isn't any time a great time for cake and cupcakes?! And I have to say, the cake we ordered (Champagne Cake with Raspberry filling) was incredible! I'd order it again! Thank you Vanessa and Sugar and Lace Bakery for your delightful treats and for being a wonderful bakery with great creations and a lot of heart! read more

First of all, I have know Vanessa through her business for almost 7 years.. with baby shower cupcakes, a 50th birthday cake and jungle animal cake pops. This lady has always been on point and Brad is just so off base it painful to see someone say what he said. She is a phenomenal baker and cake decorator and if you aren't using her, you need to. read more

The Owner and her daughter were super sweet and made a bunch of cupcakes for my husband's birthday. All of them were amazing.

In mid December 2025 I ordered a pound of divinity as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. She loved it. I had a girl friend that made some divinity too but Vanessa's divinity was much better and enjoyed by the family. This will have to become a regular Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. read more

Freshest cake I've ever eaten and great buttercream icing made with real butter not sugar and shortening. Was quite the hit at my party.

Location; Greenway and 19th Ave located in a the strip mall on the northwest side of the street. Cake; actual cake was mighty tasty, moist and baked to order (Strawberry). Sadly the color and accents were not what I ordered, on my order form I put Gold and Pink, with pink accents such as flowers or balloons for my Daughters Birthday. Instead it was off white with black lines of sorts, I did not say anything as I am not sure what could have been done when party was in a few hours. Think I should have confirmed colors when I confirmed pick up! Service; Super friendly, small and locally owned which is always my favorite.. Will try again and confirm order. read more

Hi I have ordered two cakes from this bakery and they have done an amazing job! Not only does it look amazing but it tastes amazing as well! The staff is super friendly! I messaged Vanessa because I needed a specific order. It's our dog's birthday. I could find dog birthday cakes but not matching human cakes. I asked Vanessa could she make a birthday dog cake and a matching human cake and she did. Boy did she. I don't have any daughters so I wanted a unicorn cake for my dog Bianca. (Hey we're in quarantine -any reason for cake right?) We ordered a Neapolitan cake with raspberry filling for us and whatever flavor for the dogs we ended up with a white cake. Needless to say the dogs love the cake and so did the humans thank you so much Vanessa those cakes looked amazing read more

Super sweet bakery thatI found out through Local Flavor. Tucked into a strip hall of stores, it's very welcoming. Signage, table and chairs o the outside. Inside, jam packed with sweets and treats. Pictures of happy customers and the business owner. Sheryl greeted me warmly and said she would be right with me. She was helping another customer design their custom cake. They had quite the assortment of cupcakes. I went with the lemon, pink champagne and chocolate with raspberry filling. All were so delicious! I got rave reviews at the party I brought them to. The cakes were a feast for the eyes. I'm definitely coming back to support this women owned, local az business. Tasty! read more

Today I went inside of this business for the first time. It's small and they have cookies and cakes and breads and cupcakes and cinnamon rolls and a lot of different kinds of bake goods. I believe that what makes this a great place is they specialize on making what ever you want. Like I didn't see any Kringle and I talked to the women that it's her business and she does make it. She is very nice friendly and helpful. The store is very clean and nice for its size. I believe it's a small store to keep the overhead down. But over all the shop and the people working there appear very friendly and helpful. I look forward to calling and ordering something to bake to see if it as great as it appears. read more
