They have a sign right in the front stating their covid capacity - 161 if I'm not mistaken. There's no way this place wasn't exceeding that. So. Many. People. And when the shelves and walkways are crammed full of stuff, it's just not an ideal shopping situation for me. They did have someone right at the front who was responsible for cleaning carts, which was appreciated. We were on the hunt for a larger piece of furniture. Didn't find what we were looking for, but they have a lot of different styles in chairs, desks, tables etc. I would caution that, if you do find something you like, check it thoroughly before purchasing. Many items seemed to have dents and dings from being on the floor with carts pushing past. This is definitely a spot you might find a treasure, especially in the clearance sections, but it will take some time and effort to find.

The store isn't overwhelming to navigate through considering how much stuff is there. I believe the items are all reasonably priced, but regardless it does feel goof to support a local business and local creators. This used to be the spot of White Rabbit when it was a consignment shop but now this classy decor and ladies clothing and accessories store. The style inside is very classy but fabulous with high color, lots of print, sequin and lace and edgy items from some smaller, high-end designers. I loved the Michael Aram section with some beautiful dinnerware, frames, candles and other accessories for the home. It's pricey but everything in here is unique and it was a fun browse. I found several wonderful items of clothing, some home accessories, and some items on the sale rack in the back that were good price.

A beautiful store-front window is always displayed to perfection bringing window shopping to life during your stroll down Colley Avenue. A charming sidewalk chalkboard sign greets you before you even enter the store. The handiwork on the sign is done by a local artist which speaks to the nature of Texture. As you enter the shop, you will find it proudly supports local artists of Coastal Virginia from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and more. I'm always impressed by the jewelry, hand designed greeting cards, pottery, and accessories that the owner finds for the store. She or any other "Texurette" will happily tell you about the origins of any item. The ladies who work in the shop (Texurettes, as they are fondly called) are always friendly and helpful if you are looking for something particular. They offer complimentary gift wrapping in adorable gift bags tied with ribbon. Every time I give a gift in a Texture bag the recipients eyes light up! You will find a price range for every wallet. I have bought $2 hand soaps, hilarious dishes towels for $10 as well as beautiful jewelry in the higher price range. Texture is one of those local shops who truly supports local as well. I love both that they give back to the community and support local artists. It is definitely the ideal place to find a gift for any occasion. They have a baby boutique with one of a kind baby gifts, vintage inspired puzzles, funny gifts such as socks and dish towels, coastal decor, jewelry, handbags, pottery, candles and more. I'm not sure how the owner did it, but the move to their new location only brought more of that local charm with them to Colley Avenue. They are still serving up friendly southern greetings to every customer while making their new shiny store feel ever so welcoming. Kudos!
