This is a fun unique experience to make your own candle in their store. Just be prepared that once you finish your candle you will need to wait about 45 minutes before your new candle is brought home. You could do thins before having dinner and then stop by afterwards to pick it up, we made the mistake of doing it the other way around. They have a selection of scents to choose from, it you are sensitive to strong smells I recommend not spending to must time picking a scent. Also try to prevent getting the oils from the scent on your hands. I got a headache was trying to smell to many scents which really took away from the enjoyment of the experience. I got some of the oils on my hand, even after scrubbing my hands I could still smell it. They give you a discount if you bring back the candle holder to make another candle. Maybe $10, I cannot remember exactly. The price of this candle making cost between $30-$90. It definitely made me want to try making candles at home.

I've been meaning to book an event here for over a year and finally made it in! I brought two of my girlfriends for the vision board and candle making workshop. This was such a relaxing and reflective time it was perfect. We started with the candle making and the shop owner and assistants helped guide us with mixing scents for our own personalized candles. There was a light brunch served which included meats, cheeses, olives, chocolate, cupcakes and mimosas! All the supplies were provided for the vision board making. I can't say enough about this shop. It was truly the most fun event and we had an awesome group of ladies. We will definitely be booking another event very soon.

I love buying candles from Sugar & Grace. I discovered this company during the pandemic last year on Juneteenth. I ordered a few candles and fell in love with the scent "My boyfriend's Tshirt ". I took the trip and visited the actual storefront a few times. It is very cute inside and I love how they offer plants, flowers and items for men. I saw their workshops posted online and decided this would be a fun catch up with an old friend to make a candle. Megan assisted us and even helped with the scent pairing. The process was easier than I thought. We had a good time and I hope to attend other workshops and continue to support.

I came here for the first time and was so enthralled with what a gorgeous little shop this is. Tucked inside the Selden market in downtown Norfolk, this candle shop is the perfect place to pick up a custom gift for someone, or create your own custom candle. Clients can choose their own scent, choose the candle container, and enjoy creating a 100% soy wax candle to enjoy.

This was one of the cutest places ever! I went here for a friend's birthday party. It was so intimate and the owner and staff member were so helpful throughout the process. I have never made or diy'd a candle before so it was a totally new experience. We got to choose our scents (one or you can mix a few) then melt, mix and pour our wax in to our chosen holder. The entire process took about an hour; we then had to wait for our candles to solidify. I love my candle so much I decided to use it on a candle warmer so I dont burn off the wax. Excellent group activity or date idea. It's black woman owned so was super excited to support this business. Would definitely go again. Masks are required. You can pay online or walk up. There's a shop you can buy small gifts as well.

CANDLES CANDLES CANDLES!!! Sugar and grace co had a DIY candle bar! Located in Selden Market in Norfolk. I went in last week with my daughter and we made our own soy candles. You get to choose the fragrance of the candles the type of jar you want and the are made with wood wicks. The store is very pretty. The are are a variety of different candles, body creams and scrubs for purchase. The customer service is great! I will definitely be returning. This is a Black woman owned business!

Candles do not have much throw. You can't smell unless you are standing right on top of it.

This place is so cool and eclectic! It's the store that used to be under Elliot's Fairgrounds, but…read morethe lady working said this was a better spot- more out in the open. I loved everything inside, and wanted to buy one of everything! If you're looking for a gift for almost anyone, this is a good spot to check out. The prices were pretty reasonable, but some were a bit pricey (to be expected). I can't wait to go back for another gift!

Shop local like you mean it and you won't be disappointed at Texture!…read more After many years, Texture has relocated out of the quaint house on Baldwin Avenue to serve its customers in a more convenient location just a few blacks down on Colley Avenue. The new location is nestled next to Running, Etc and across the street from Blair Middle School. It boasts ample street parking with a convenient side parking lot for customers as well. A beautiful store-front window is always displayed to perfection bringing window shopping to life during your stroll down Colley Avenue. A charming sidewalk chalkboard sign greets you before you even enter the store. The handiwork on the sign is done by a local artist which speaks to the nature of Texture. As you enter the shop, you will find it proudly supports local artists of Coastal Virginia from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and more. I'm always impressed by the jewelry, hand designed greeting cards, pottery, and accessories that the owner finds for the store. She or any other "Texurette" will happily tell you about the origins of any item. The ladies who work in the shop (Texurettes, as they are fondly called) are always friendly and helpful if you are looking for something particular. They offer complimentary gift wrapping in adorable gift bags tied with ribbon. Every time I give a gift in a Texture bag the recipients eyes light up! You will find a price range for every wallet. I have bought $2 hand soaps, hilarious dishes towels for $10 as well as beautiful jewelry in the higher price range. Texture is one of those local shops who truly supports local as well. I love both that they give back to the community and support local artists. It is definitely the ideal place to find a gift for any occasion. They have a baby boutique with one of a kind baby gifts, vintage inspired puzzles, funny gifts such as socks and dish towels, coastal decor, jewelry, handbags, pottery, candles and more. I'm not sure how the owner did it, but the move to their new location only brought more of that local charm with them to Colley Avenue. They are still serving up friendly southern greetings to every customer while making their new shiny store feel ever so welcoming. Kudos!
