    Sugah! Ice Cream

We stopped in at the Sugah Confectionery & Ice Cream Emporium and grabbed some ice cream to enjoy along the water at the Halifax Harbour. It was a little crowded, but our ice cream was tasty.

Beautiful Gumball Machine at this Sugah Candy store. Perfect for any sugar cravings and an ice scream shop to the right side of the shop.

Loved this place on our visit to Halifax. We were walking along the shore when we came across this. Amazing ice cream for actually very reasonable price! We got hunky dory with waffle cone, we were thinking one scoop would be small but it filled up the whole big waffle cone and they mixed berries and nuts in it.

Mint chip in a cone and a box o' coffee ice cream with chocolate rum cake mixed in.

This is a review of the ice cream, which I've only ever had at the Public Gardens location. I wish I could write a better review because I do heart local, but Sugah! just doesn't do it for me (especially in comparison to, say, Dee Dee's). The ice cream is fine. I know it's supposed to be "hand paddled" and all, but I don't find it outstanding. The real trouble I have with Sugah! is that my peanut allergy prevents me from ever having a mix-in. This is super sad given that some of the mix-ins sound amazing! Finally, I'm guessing no one ever orders a cone at the Public Gardens location, because the one I had tasted like chewy cardboard.

Open City 2017. Had their Honkey Dory option for $2.50 (ice cream+ a mix-in). I got Oxford blueberry + chocolate chips, I know, I'm predictable, but I just love our local blueberries harmoniously co-exist with the creamy vanilla ice cream from Sugah!

A sweet treat during City Harvest, nothing goes better with chocolate then chocolate peanut butter fudge

The staff is not friendly, I was completely ignored and no one seemed interested in helping.

Let me preamble (like how I used that) this review in that I have loved this shop for years. I…read morehave driven out to their old storefront plenty of times to taste their wares. My husband (who asks for nothing), only wanted them to do our wedding cake. Full Stop. No discussion. I have yet, and I mean yet, pass their new storefront at the market and not buy something. I have tried every... single... one... of their individual desserts. Never a bad one, just varying levels of bliss. Their hot chocolate and cocoa packaged to take home is excellent for drinking and baking (tested faithfully and often by yours truly). Chocolates are awesome with original and sometimes surprising fillings. And their chocolate drink honestly makes me wiggle with happiness. Reminds me of hot chocolate I used to drink in Paris. Their is artistry in their work. Almost makes you want to not mar the beauty..... Phfft, who am I kidding. Try them... You'll see. And thank me later.

Insanely beautiful confections. The only problem with Gourmandise is that it's impossible to…read morechoose which gorgeous pastries to take home with you. And I love that I don't actually have to drive out to the Eastern Passage location. They're at the Halifax Farmers Market every Saturday. As for which ones I love...truthfully I just do a "I'll take one of those, and one of those, and...." Frankly, I haven't found a bland one yet!
