Food is great service is wonderful always friendly I would recommend this place to everyone

Ambience is well-worn but comfortable. Needs a good cleaning and deep scrub. . Single server was overwhelmed with packed house but food came quickly. Food is brown, hot, plenty of it, tastes good and exceptionally inexpensive. Meals here before tasted better but this was still good, a solid B- effort. read more

Sue's Kountry Kitchen: A Breakfast Adventure in Cedar Springs. If Cedar Springs had its own cozy space station, it would be Sue's Kountry Kitchen. Sitting right in the middle of town at 12 N 1st St, this diner has been serving warm, home-style food since 1982. It doesn't try to look fancy or futuristic. Instead, it feels like a friendly ship where everyone knows each other, the walls are covered with fun decorations, and the crew treats you like family. Landing on a Sunday Morning. After church, I stopped in for breakfast. At first, the diner was pretty quiet--about one‑third full. But as time went on, more and more people arrived, until the place was buzzing like a busy command center. Clearly, the locals love this spot. The greeter acted fast, like a well‑trained officer. She took my drink order right away. My large chocolate milk showed up almost instantly in a cold, frosty glass. It was creamy, sweet, and felt like a classic treat from childhood. The Main Mission: Breakfast, I ordered my usual: * Three eggs over easy * Crispy bacon with a crun‑chewy snap * Wheat toast Everything was cooked just right. The eggs had soft, runny yolks perfect for dipping. The bacon had that special mix of crunch and chew. The toast was thick, warm, and toasted just enough. I have a special way of eating this meal. I put an egg onto each wedge of toast, chop it up, dust it with salt and pepper, then fork it into my mouth, one savory bite at a time. The last piece of toast always gets a sweet upgrade. Today, I added both strawberry jam and grape jelly. It was amazing. Service & Atmosphere, the staff stayed friendly and fast, even as the diner filled up. Prices were fair, portions were big, and the whole place had that warm Midwestern feeling--like a safe base after a long journey. Final Verdict, if you want a simple, tasty breakfast that feels like home, Sue's Kountry Kitchen is the place to go. No fancy decorations needed. The food and the people make it shine. Highly recommended for anyone who loves classic diner food done right. read more

This place is closed. We arrived on Wednesday. To an empty pot hole parking lot. Should have taken a picture of the parking lot. Went to Kelly's. read more

food is great but the place needs some serious updating ... seats in booths are really bad

Hands down best place to go for breakfast! The homemade bread has thick slices and tastes amazing. The service is speedy and quick. Highly recommend! read more

Definitely a small town diner feel. Food was alright. Portions seem a but small but made sense seeing how most of their patrons are probably older people that don't eat much. Prices were low, but again smaller portions so pricing wasn't to bad. Service was fine. No one to greet you when you come in but with it being a small town I assume most of the ppl thay come in know eachother and don't need a greeter. read more

10/10 on the food quality and portion size. Also the service is fast and my drink is always full. Staff is always very sweet. ALWAYS A FAMILY FAVORITE. read more

We went there in the spring. Everyone who ordered potatoes with our breakfast had COLD POTATOES. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This is where I go for breakfast with my Dad and mom in Cedar Springs. The portions are large and the prices are descent. Owned by a polite young man, generational owned and family operated. I usually order the pancakes with pecans. They always come bigger than the plate. The experience that I had my pancakes were not burnt. I also had eggs and bacon well done. The coffee is okay. The loaves of homemade breads are really good, they usually last me the whole week. I use it for toast and sandwiches. ***They are open during covid-19 for take out, breakfast all day. read more

An off Main Street diner that is a hidden gem. A quaint little place with a no frills decor. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy, and a Swiss omelet with homemade wheat toast. My wife ordered an all meat omelet with homemade rye toast. The biscuits and gravy were very good. I do think it just a tad bit to much pepper to my taste, but still very good. My omelet had ham, mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese in it and a slice on top. The bread was so good. My wife's had ham, bacon, and sausage with American cheese with a slice on top. She also liked her rye toast. The wait staff was courteous and they were on it. Coffee was refilled a couple times and the food came nice and hot and in a timely manner. I would recommend if your looking for a place to eat breakfast. read more

I had to downgrade my rating this time. It has been quite a while since i ate there, but i had been missing it, so purposely drove out of my way to go there. I was surprised to find it almost empty. But i though good for me. No problem finding a seat. Anyway i ordered a couple scrambled eggs and potatoes, 1/2 order of hash. Everything was fine, except they were closing and it wasn't even close to closing time yet. Again, no biggie. So i finished eating, and as always the food was great. Went to pay and leave, and my order came to $16.00. That would normally be what i paid for two people. Have eggs gone up that high. I didnt even order any meat. So any way, left ab$4 tip, came to $20.00. Thats the most ive ever paid for a one person breakfast. Maybe its been a while since ive eaten out. And it will be a long time before i eat out again at those prices. I'm guessing thats why its no longer packed all the time like it used to be. Great food, great people, just way too high on the prices. Thats one of the readons i liked the place so much. It had great food, you got a lot of it, and the prices were very reasonable. I wont be back unless the prices come back down to something reasonable again. It needs a lot of updating too, which i didnt care about when the prices were good. Like the seat bench covers. If you don't mind the cost of the food, i highly recommend it. Its great food, and great people. read more

Had to Google the location because it's not visible from the main road. Great little diner off the beaten path! Portions were plentiful and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. No complaints and will definitely go again. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the aged decor and environment but definitely doesn't effect the great taste of the food! read more

French toast was very delish. The two flaws: pancake syrup they provided along with burnt bottom crust for the two slices I had. Size of homemade bread they used for the french toast was very big and decent. Sausage links was good as well. No complaints there about eggs nor sausage. My reasoning of minus 2 stars: I kept smelling burnt food before AND after our food was served and my toast pieces were burnt along with them putting sliced american cheese atop of farmers omlette for my mother. She enjoyed her food otherwise. I will be back if I am in the area again to give the french toast another go. Its that good. read more

After all the rave reviews we were excited to go here for breakfast. The food was great! The homemade bread is delicious!! The service not so much :-(. Very disappointed!! If your waiter was the Tall young man you received great service! Our waitress was the young lady - which was the worst service I've EVER received at a restaurant. read more

We found this place via yelp and stopped in our way to the grand rapid airport. What a treat!! We immediately stood out at the non-locals but were treated like gold and ate like Kings! They make their own bread which is incredible. My husband had the southwestern skillet and really enjoyed it. I had the silver dollar pancakes and eggs! We read via yelp that the service was slow but had the complete opposite experience! read more

Will not go back until the covid crisis is over, they don't take it seriously, no masks on the help or the owner, no gloves or sanitizer, none of the customers were masked up. It's too bad because we used to go here alot, but won't go back now. read more

Sue's breakfasts are excellent with great portions. Their breads are all homemade and very good. We had stopped in here a couple of years ago on our way up north and decided to go back. Staff was very friendly and service was good! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Good, home cooked food. Lots of seating. Friendly staff even though we weren't "townies". Homemade bread was yummy. Daughter got a bagel sandwich and liked it a lot. Nothing was too greasy or anything. It's a nice little place. read more

Wonderful! My husband and I stopped here after leaving Grand Rapids, on a road trip from Texas to Gaylord to pick up a camper we purchased. The whole trip up North was fast food, due to COVID and limited restaurants being open to dine in. We were craving home cooked food and found this hidden gem on google. My husband said find a Country Kitchen like home, and while I thought it would be impossible, I found one! The service was wonderful and the food was even better. We definitely felt northern hospitality like our southern hospitality at this little diner! The French toast and skillet were two thumbs up. Thanks for a great breakfast! Take my advice and stop in!! read more

Go for breakfast everyday. Specials everyday. Never had a bad meal. Fast, friendly service.

Ate here while on a road trip. Service was great, everyone was friendly and all dishes and silverware were clean. Their fries are crinkle cut, which is nice, and their fried mushrooms were really good (not soggy or falling apart). They have BIG pancakes that were fluffy and slightly crisp around the edges. Their club sandwich was very tasty. The decor is slightly dated and the restroom has a single toilet that is place too close to the wall which makes it hard to use for broad shouldered people. They do have a full baby changing table in the restroom and it was clean and sanitary. Pros: Great service, good food, reasonable prices. Cons: Dated decor, cramped restroom. Would recommend to anyone looking for decent food at a decent price. read more

Best breakfast in west Michigan. The Sue Sandwich hits the spot every time, but the simple eggs, bacon, and hash brown breakfast is top notch too. Really can't go wrong. Oh yah, if you don't try their home cooked bread you're a criminal. read more

Wow! The service was absolutely terrible! This place is a joke! I seriously thought I was being Punked! What a $hithole!! Waited forever to put our order in and the server was obviously forced to work there to pay for his shitty car. Oh, and I've been here for over 90 minutes and dieing of starvation. Ok, another 30 minutes and starving. Wow!! Great food! Unreal! Worth the wait!!! read more

I'm wondering if I was at the same restaurant as those who posted previous reviews. I can't review the food because we left without ordering. The restaurant was filthy, with fingerprints covering the entry door, and grease and debris covering the carpet in the dining room. The kitchen is semi-open to the dining room, and the kitchen staff was not busy. Cooks were chatting with each other, with multiple four letter words peppering their conversation. The dining room was not busy. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. After asking twice if someone would be able to take our order, we left. Won't be back. read more

The food is excellent, some of the staff are great others completely awful! Went in there with just my daughter, after watching our waitress wait on everyone else walking through the door. (Almost 25mins) she finally made her way to us. I placed our order. She dropped food off and I never seen her again. Had to go to counter to get the bill. I definitely let the staff know how she treated us. The other waiter agreed and they gave me a big discount. Didn't stop me from going back though food is delicious. read more

Outside has the look of a typical small town coffee shop diner that locals have visited for years. Inside decor continues the feel yet does not feel dated, just non-pretentious. Friendly staff, ask several times how was the food. Three of us went for breakfast. Wow. Food was hot and fresh. Huge servings. The toast was homemade, thick and dense. We had rye and whole wheat. Sausage gravy was fantastic. Creamy and seasoned just right. This place worth the stop. Would like to try a lunch before giving it a five star. read more

My girlfriend, a Cedar Springs local, introduced me to Sue's. It's the kind of place if you go in more than once, you've become a regular and the waitress knows your order by heart. I recently moved to the area and have tried a few of the breakfast restaurants in the area. I finally found my spot. Sue's Kountry Kitchen is off Main Street close to the post office. Now the saying don't judge a book by its cover is true here..the building is old and the decor is dated. Most defiantly done by the owners. But that should not stop you from trying this gem. The waitstaff is understaffed so you won't get that sit down and talk to you for a while vibe. It's more of a what do you want let me get that for you and are you happy with what you got. If your looking to make friends with the staff it won't happen right away...I'm sure they would do that if they had more staff as they are friendly and do recognize you if you come in often. Now on to the food which is amazing...hands down some of the best breakfast I have ever had. I get the country skillet with added green peppers and homemade white or wheat toast along with a homemade cinnamon roll to start. They sometimes have homemade doughnuts which are amazing also. I have tried several things on the menu and everything has been wonderful. But I have found my favorites and I plan to keep coming back every weekend. They also make sure your coffee cup is never empty which is a big plus for me! read more
