This was my second time getting a spray tan. I was going to Mexico and wanted some color before going out on the beach In October. When I came in there were so many decisions to make....machine or hand sprayed? Medium or dark? Do you want a bronzer? Do you want it to develop? My head was swimming for being a newbie still. I decided on a medium tan, in a machine, without a bronzer, and it developed the longer it stayed on. It looked great the next day and I was very happy with it. Very poor customer service. Always running behind and not true to promotions. I bought 2 Groupons for custom spray tans. First tan was ok, didn't last as long as it should have. But since I bought two, I went to use the other one. They told my i could not use my second purchased Groupon and it was only allowed for the 1st visit, even though Groupon has a limit of two. I would have to pay a $44 dollar difference. Nope. WONT BE BACK! read more

I really liked my spray tan! They had a great Groupon and they let me use it the same day I bought it.

Not thrilled. Airbrush tech sprayed me super light. I asked for two passes on my face, feet and hands. Paid extra for rapid and I rinsed at four hours which should have been plenty of time to develop. Which is what I always do with no issues in the past. The tan never really developed and my face virtually remained tanless. I was leaving town the next day and I messaged them explaining I needed my fave touched up. They never responded! UPDATE: sad to say I won't be coming back here unless it's an emergency situation and I need a last minute tan. I was really looking forward to getting my spray tan as well. I purchased a groupon and when I got to my original appointment I was told I can purchase another session. So I did. I get there this evening and I'm asked to pay $40, I explain I already paid and I'm told I can't use something I already paid for but it can be deducted from the price? I passed, super annoying that this wasn't told to me the first time I was here and was told I could re purchase this at the groupon price. Why not apologize and grant it instead of asking someone to pay for a spray tan they technically already paid for. Wish I didn't drive all the way over here to be disappointed, I didn't bring all my cards with me and I didn't have cash. This place is lovely! I am familiar with spray tans but I hadn't been to this particular location prior to seeing they had a great groupon deal. I walked in and was greeted by a sweet girl who looked my info up, walked me back and taught me how to stand and what to expect. They had hair nets, wipes, things for your feet etc. it was obviously very clean and she wiped it down in front of me as well to make sure it was extra clean. After the tan finished, the machine sprayed itself down. I was so impressed with the friendly customer service, while I was waiting for it to dry I went ahead and purchased another session. So I purchased an $11 Groupon for the spray booth. The girl who was working told me she was new. She said I had been to this location over a year ago so I can't use the Groupon. She called the manager/owner to make sure. She said I can use the $11 toward a $49 spray tan. Then the girl working there tells me how awful the spray booth is because you only get 2 passes so your sides don't get color. She was trying to up-sell me on the airbrush tan and all of these products I didn't need. I finally said no I'm not gonna use your services and left to go to a competitor and received a wonderful booth tan and a touch up after with one of the airbrush techs and it was cheaper. Then I just recently went to look at my Groupon and THEY HAD REDEEMED IT THE DAY I WAS THERE!! I didn't even use their services so they basically stole from me. The only reason I visited this place over a year ago is because the owner was trolling the competitors yelp pages and messaged me after seeing one of my other reviews and practically begged me to give them a shot. I went in today and was greeted by Taylor and she had a beautiful smile and was very kind to me today. During my spray tan session I complimented on how she does such a wonderful job at spraying and how it's my favorite way of having an airbrushed spray by far. She was very precise on how she sprayed and used the dryer to make sure it dried but also kept me warm aside from the heater that was turned on, and she did everything so amazingly well. It was my second time being sprayed by her and I told her I need to come in when she's working because no one does it as great as she does. I really enjoyed my experience today. These girls are seriously THE SWEETEST!! I had a tanning- DISASTER, LOL. Let's just say I looked like I just laid on a bed of tanning solution on each side of my body. Prior to me leaving I thought it looked lighter on my sides but just wanted to wait it out until it fully set, giving my tan Time to mature ... BIG mistake. I couldn't wear shorts. SO I went back in and their reaction was almost equivalent to mine. They not only fixed me by giving me a personal airbrush tan .. but they replaced ALL the sessions I bought with the personal airbrush tan .. which is way more expensive! They were in utter shock, with me on my spray tan and were truly so kind and genuine in my experience. I am thankful for the Suddenly Sunless staff. I am VERY appreciative!! read more

This is a updated review after my 2nd spray tan here. I had a appointment Thursday @ 9:30am and called to re-schedule because my sitter cancelled. They said I could come in at 9:45pm that night (I would've been fine even being rescheduled for another day). I get there 10 mins early and the girl brought me back (different girl from last time) and literally sprayed me in less than 10 minutes. She seemed like she was in a huge hurry I'm assuming so they could close and leave. She also didn't take the time to dry me like the last girl and told me I could get dressed. The next morning I just rinsed off like instructed and then took a shower 6 hours later like she instructed me to. I had 2-3 white spots on my face, my legs were streaky and I looked a little orange. She used the medium color, same color I used last time. My "tan" was also very uneven. The reason I got the spray tan is because I was a bridesmaid in a wedding on Saturday. That morning I woke up and started getting ready I noticed two patches on my cheekbone areas that I couldn't even cover with make up. Needless to say I'm very disappointed and will not be returning or referring anymore of my friends or family. read more

Suddenly Sunless used Living Social to employ the shady "bait-and-switch" tactic. After checking in I was advised that my voucher for a custom air brush tan only covered light applications and that it would cost me $15 more to get the right color for me. Nowhere on the voucher or deal page does it state that; however, I was there and needed to get it done. It was still $20 cheaper than their normal charge of $55. The application itself was fine and the color looks okay so far. The only after-care instruction she gave me was to not shower for 6-8 hours. Unless you live in McKinney and really can't make the drive anywhere else, I see no reason to go to Suddenly Sunless. Your best bet is The Tan Bar in Dallas. They have great customer service, are very thorough in their pre- and post-care instructions, and cost $10 less. read more

WARNING TO GROUPON CUSTOMERS: Okay so I would like to say from the outset that the woman who helped me was extremely nice. However, that didn't prevent me from feeling like I was tricked by their Groupon deal. I specifically paid for the "Custom Airbrush" on Groupon because the Suddenly Sunless website said it was supposed to last up to 12 days (I get that this doesn't guarantee 12 days), versus the other option Groupon had which the website said only lasted up to 9 days. However, when I got to my tanning session I was basically told that I could get a tan with my groupon, but it was only 1 (super fair) or a 2 (pretty light) out of probably 10+ levels of tan-ness. Why even get spray tanned at all? Even after I said I would just do level 2, the tanning technician told me a level two tan would be gone within 3 days! Why would I pay for a spray tan at all for it to last 3 DAYS, let alone a $55 one (that was about half price with the Groupon, but still this seems extreme). So I paid the extra $15 dollars for a level 3 - already much more than I wanted to spend hence why I bought the Groupon. Afterwards, I was told maybe this tan would last a week and if I wanted it to last longer, I had to buy all these other lotions from them. This is beyond ridiculous... they advertise a service and price but when you get there, want MUCH more money for what they advertise. I was disappointed that I left spending an extra $30 above the groupon (and I only got 1 mini version of the 3 lotions they try and force on you after the tan) and still won't have my tan last what I expected it to based on their advertisements. So if you're planning on just using the groupon, expect a three day tan. Not what I expected or wished for when purchasing my groupon. read more

My wife and I bought a groupon to this place and was extremely disappointed when we were told that we each had to pay an additional $10 to get the color we wanted. It was stated in the groupon we had the choice of 6 colors and no mention of that the groupon only covers the lightest application. I have been a loyal customer for 2 years and in the last 6 months the wait times are horrible, over 45 minutes one night- and I had an appointment, the custom hand spray machines aren't working properly all the time, they are short staffed, often running all clients out of one room and the professionalism is lost at this establishment. Cleanliness in custom spray rooms is a negative- there is spray all over walls- dripping off door and they use the same foot towel and baby powder brush on ALL naked clients body parts after tan. read more

Buyer beware on this one- lots of conditions with a groupon, and the conditions keep changing. I have been here about 8 or so times the past 2 years and previously had great experiences; this time I was exceptionally disappointed. I have always purchased and been able to use a groupon for my tans without issue, they did change it to where the groupon only applies to the light tan, but I'm fair skin so that's not a problem for me. You have to enter your credit card when you make an appointment online which I did not want to do, so I called. The woman was very nice and said I was only allowed 1 groupon per calendar year now so this would be my one- completely understandable. Then, when I came in I was told it was only for new customers and I would have to pay full price, and not even be able to use the groupon. I would almost understand this if I had not directly spoken to someone earlier that week who knew I was an existing customer and told me it was fine. I explained what I had been told and the employee said as a discount I could pay the difference between the groupon and full price tan- something I still didn't want to do; especially given her rude demeanor. Finally, I was allowed to use my groupon, but not without some serious attitude from the employee (I believe it was Taylor). She then didn't want to even do my tan (fine by me) and kept trying to get the other women to cover for her instead. The woman I did see was fine, but seem rather annoyed- mind you I still tipped 20% of the regular full price tan. I recommend going to Tabitha or Adrienne if you go here, they are both excellent technicians, super nice and always welcoming- I would go back to see them, but no one else. read more
