If he can't fix the problems, I'm switching to AT&T. I never thought I'd actually consider AT&T as a better alternative, but I'm tired of paying over $100.00 a month for TERRIBLE service and I'm willing to give them a shot. The service is significantly faster, far more reliable, and costs less than half of what TDS was charging. My biggest frustration, however, has been TDS's billing practices. It has now been five weeks since I closed my account, and TDS still has not refunded the $317.74 credit balance they owe me. When I called to ask about my refund, I was told it could take up to 120 days to process. I spoke with a supervisor hoping there might be some flexibility, but was simply told, "We cannot override company policy." I pointed out the obvious double standard: if I were 120 days late paying TDS, my internet service would have been disconnected long ago, and my account likely sent to collections. Yet when TDS owes money to a former customer, they believe it's acceptable to hold onto that customer's money for as long as four months. Between the unreliable service, high prices, and what I consider an unreasonable refund policy, I cannot recommend TDS. My experience with Kinetic Fiber has been the complete opposite - faster speeds, better reliability, and a monthly bill that is less than half of what I was paying TDS. If you're shopping for internet service in Carlsbad, I strongly recommend comparing your options before choosing TDS.
