My 9 year old son just started his 3rd year at this wonderful school, and it has been amazing for…read moreus! They really understand him, and his social-emotional issues. The small class size allows for very individualized attention. He is (like many of the students) an uneven learner. He reads and does math way above grade level, but needs help with writing and expressive language (but some children have more typical learning difficulties). Each family is assigned a social worker to meet with on a regular basis, and the social workers also go into the classrooms to work on social skills through "friendship" and "games" groups. There is a "black & white" notebook that goes back and forth every day, providing a means of valuable communication between the teachers and parents. He has met some great friends here, and there is a warm parent community. We can speak freely with each other about our children's "issues" - we're all in this together! So happy we found this little gem of a school! P.S. The Parents' Association hosts a wonderful lecture series on a variety of topics, mostly concerning special needs children.

We offer a social and emotional perspective to learning while maintaining a challenging mainstream curriculum. Our teachers work hand-in-hand with social workers and other specialists to respond as a team to all aspects of a child's development. Children flourish here. Our school is a place where our youngsters can form successful bonds that perhaps did not develop in other school settings. Every day, they are given the tools and techniques they need to feel safe, to succeed, and to feel a sense of achievement. And they have fun learning and forming positive relationships, often for the first time.

I spoke to 4 different people and no one could explain what actually occurred. The teacher even initially claimed she came in with the bruise, which was still bleeding when I picked her up. I asked for a bandaid and requested the report. No one took this seriously- not the owners of the school or the admin there. They dismissed my inquiries. I will never bring my daughter back to that school

Hudsonway Immersion School (HWIS) has been a great experience for our family.  When looking for…read moreschools for our daughter to enter kindergarten we weren't looking for a private school.   We were determined to find our daughter a solid dual language Spanish program that offered the academic excellence, "true" language education/literacy, and the strong support system she deserved.  Many of the public schools we found did not meet our needs, but we found that HWIS hit all these marks and it opened our eyes to the possibilities for our daughter. Our daughter is shy, eager to learn, and takes time to be comfortable with new people.  Since the first day of school she adored her teacher, made friends, and seems to make new friends with the other children and staff members every week as she excitingly tells us stories about her day.  She comes home every day with a general sense of pride in what she learned. HWIS really focuses on building a strong culture,  nurturing a childs mind, and bringing phenomenal talent in the teachers and administration to ensure the school itself continue to improve. We feel that immersive education is far greater than other schools that teach other languages as an exercise of repetition and translation.  HWIS truly adheres to leverage the benefits of immersing the students with the language (Spanish /Mandarin) while teaching them the core  curriculum.  We feel we made the best possible choice for our daughter and have been extremely satisfied with her development and growth.

One time the principal showed us a loaded gun and shot a bullet and it hit my best friend Yossele. He went to the emergency room and he never came back. I have also seen things at this school that i would have never imagined. I am traumatized by the things i have seen. No one, and i mean no one in this school got accepted into a good high school. All the good reviews are made by the staff of the school, I caught them in the act of doing it once. We have no good teachers, and one time the teacher licked the floor and started chasing us. All the kids are autistic, and on the roof, the floor is so bumpy i fell every day. The school will tell you you will pay about 25000 for tuition, but they add on fees without telling you that add up to about 75000. I hate this place .
