Francis Lewis High School was quite an experience. I was involved in both JROTC and the science research program, which made my time there rewarding. The teachers were incredibly supportive (special thanks to my JROTC and science mentors).
JROTC taught me discipline and leadership (including those early morning PT sessions). Meanwhile, the science research program sparked my curiosity and passion for discovery (lots of lab hours!).
One thing to note: your experience here depends on you. Like any place ever, it's flawed but the opportunities are ultimately there (you need to seize them). Whether it's joining clubs, excelling in academics, or making the most of JROTC and science research, it's about your initiative.
A heads-up: this school has a large student population, which can make it crowded at times. Navigating the hallways with a crowd can feel like a daily game of dodgeball. It's definitely overcrowded, but that's typical of public schools. Despite the large number of students, they manage to make it work, which deserves respect.
If you're willing to put in the effort, Francis Lewis High School can be a place of growth and great memories. read more
