I took refresher swimming lessons recently via Gateway Sports, and one of the venues available in Queens was the swimming pool in Bayside High School. So that's what I went with..close to home and plenty of residential parking. Overall, not bad. Not an Olympic sized pool but it's adequate. Well maintained and clean. My only major gripe was the locker room was freezing..almost like the school couldn't afford to turn on the heat a little..lol

They push you to think harder and solve problems on your own, which helped me get better at math and problem-solving overall. The class sizes are usually pretty small, so it's easier to ask questions if you get stuck. The instructors are patient and explain things clearly, sometimes showing multiple ways to solve a problem. I also like that the curriculum goes beyond what we learn in regular school, especially for competition math and advanced topics. It can definitely be demanding at times, but if you're willing to put in the effort, it's worth it. I feel like I've improved a lot since starting there, and it's helped build my confidence.

The teachers are…read moregifted and caring and honestly motivate and prepare you for college and "real life" a ton of class options including honors and AP and ton of unique electives (i took journalism for two years straight along with digital publishing). A ton of programs here including dance, law, and math and science. A ton of elective and unique offering that include yoga, fencing, fashion design, sports law, astronomy and forensics (TO NAME A FEW!) This is definitely the place to find yourself and hone in on your interests in preparation for college. College is PUSHED here from freshman year and teachers and guidance counselors actually help and prepare you in every aspect. This place has an overall great morale and school spirit- sports are really big here as well. Overall, I had a great "traditional high school experience"- in conclusion big schools work, I would not have had the same experiences or opportunities if I went to some school thats 1 floor with 100 other kids. 'Dozo has a modern building with huge outdoor athletic fields (gym is often held outside), 2 gyms, a dance studio and SmartBoards in the classrooms. I heard the kindergarten class had three teachers this year alone, each one stating lack of support from the principal as their reason for leaving mid-year. The building is literally being held together with tape in some areas, where the building experienced pipes leaking. There is writing all over the bathroom walls and cracks all along the foundation, none of which seems to be fixed despite running fundraisers all year. The school's principal cannot even write an email to parents without it being riddled with grammatical errors. My children spent only one year at this school, and it was one year too many. I had heard this school was great about a decade ago, but has since gone to shambles, both literally and physically.

When I started 7 grade at this school, that was my first year in an English school, so it's a very tough time for me because I cannot communicate, read and write basic stuffs. I was very desperate not because of the course load, rather with my poor English skill. However, the teachers here are awesome and they are always willing to offer help to make a learning easier. I would really just give up learning if I didn't meet the awesome teachers here. They really help me regain confidence in learning and successfully complete middle school curriculum. Even they share the same building, the break time releasing time and the start time is different time than each school. So the students basically don't see each other or crushes each other. This also prevent the school and the street to be too crowded when students start getting out of the school The only thing about this middle school is when you register they go by lottery to entered the school. Basically it's luck to get entered. I am not sure if there is another way to enter the school.
