I dare say many of my college classes are easier than those I took at Chaminade. The workload was pretty bad, but again this prepared me well for college and gave me good study habits. I graduated here before they started offering their AP courses, but I'm assuming the academics are still top-notch. They were pretty strict with things like uniforms, cheating, and general classroom nuisance, but I really don't recall many egregiously unfair punishments handed out. Most of my classmates were great and I'm still friends with many of them in college. I never really saw any bullying going on, and even those who I didn't like the most were better people than most at other schools. In terms of the good morals stuff, yeah I'll say that part's a little overrated. They definitely teach you to be the best person possible, and I will say most of my classmates were good people. But some parents try to act like everyone who goes here is a saint or never does anything bad in their life. This just isn't true. A lot of drinking and drugs (mostly just weed) goes on here. Again most of even those who party and stuff are decent enough, it's just perhaps not the most "saintly" place ever like some parents will have you believe. It's one of those places that you don't like, at the moment when you're going there because of the course load and how stressed you will be. But once you look back on it a couple of years into college, you'll see how good it was and how well it likely prepared you.

Chaminade is an independent Catholic college-preparatory high school which truly prepares its students to the real world. I had the pleasure to attend the 2000 graduation ceremony of my former love's brother and the added pleasure to attend live performances of past off-Broadway shows: "Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and "Guys and Dolls." Tuition is very expensive and entry admittance is not very easy. I highly recommend this school for any parents and young men who are entering their high school years. It is a "coming of age" to young men. Chaminade High School's notable alumni are: George Kennedy, 1943, Academy Award-winning actor and Bill O'Reilly, 1967, a political commentator; host of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor.

The children's service is located on the lower level of the library and it is well organized. The…read moretoddler / younger kids section with lots of toys / games / puzzles are located in the back of the children's room. The toys / games / puzzles are in used but good conditions, seems clean as well. Love the variety of the books and the books are placed by certain orders. The children's room was quiet at the time we visited. My kids had a great time visiting this library.

Many parents who have children who excel decide to transfer their children to private schools such as Kellenberg, Sacred Heart, Chaminade and Mary Louis Academy. The teachers do little to nothing to challenge the more advanced students, thereby encouraging the parents of the high-performing students to transfer them elsewhere. I was in this school recently and the hallways smelled of marijuana.

Clean common areas, well lit parking lots and walkways. The football/soccer field is neatly trimmed with a recently replaced rubberized track circumnavigating the field. The baseball field is above average for that of a public school. The hallways and gymnasium, albeit tidy, are a bit outdated. The staff, however, is polite, helpful and very friendly. Definitely a school I would have enjoyed being matriculated at.
