When I made the reservation I asked for the opinion of the woman I was talking to about indoors vs outdoors and she said she loves their dining room so I went with inside and I'm glad I did. Cute little vases with flowers in each table not over done and very homey and classy. We ordered a cocktail and some appetizers including the blue cornbread. The cocktails were interesting and fresh. For dinner I had the best sea trout EVER! It was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and full of flavor. I would get this weekly if I lived there. My husband ordered the tamale and it was a fresh twist on the New Mexican staple. Literally little celebrations in every bite! If we are back in Taos we will definitely return to Love Apple for it all: food, service and ambiance. Well done!

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

Service was friendly and the soft live acoustic guitar music in the background added nicely to the ambiance. Bob has a variety of food allergies starting with gluten and he was one happy camper as the menu offered him lots of options, with the menu notes helping to lead the way. Laurie needs to have her food plain, and there was plenty to choose from there. I was perhaps the least adventurous by ordering an old standby - The Tuna Melt. It was very tasty, although their version was more like fresh tuna salad on toast. Gayle was perhaps the most adventurous in her choice of Chicken and Waffles with Green Chile. She later mentioned that she loves all 3 flavors, but was unsure whether she liked them together. We also chose well in having our Brunch before visiting the Taos Pueblo, of which we hung out for quite awhile. There's no point in experiencing local culture while hangry.

The avocado was creamy, the sourdough toast was perfectly toasted and the sorrel paste gave the dish a spark that made every bite a pleasure. The huevos rancheros were outstanding. The beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The green and red chile sauces were both on point and better than what I got at more well-known restaurants in town. The smoothies and chai masala were very creamy and tasty. Additionally, the vegan potato and corn chowder was a delicious lite lunch item. Very pleasant service as well. We came here every day and had terrific meals each time.

The service felt truly nostalgic as if I was eating at some dear friends Chinese grandmothers house. Never met the chef but it's her husband and he was back there cooking up a storm. I imagine if it's busy this place could be a little slow as it's only a 2 legend operation, but they still managed to bring us a tasty treat complimentary I guess because they liked us. Really loved this spot, the ambiance did feel like being in some really sweet peoples home, which I appreciated. There are big tables for big parties.
