Last night (10/21/20), my dad went to the location on 1240 Chicago Avenue and asked for a plain quarter pounder with cheese. Simple, right? Not really because the idiots had everything on it. So, that's one issue: staff that can't follow simple instructions. This is extremely common as this happens every time he goes to this location. When just deciding to scrape off all the unwanted stuff, it was discovered the patty itself was torn into three pieces. They didn't even think about cooking a fresh whole patty knowing that was unacceptable. "Ah, that slice of cheese will cover that," is probably what the moronic teenager thought when assembling the sandwich. So, that's the next issue: laziness and carelessness. But, here's the whopper (no pun intended): THERE WAS A LONG HAIR UNDER THE CHEESE!!!!! Can you imagine my mother taking a bite of the burger and finding the hair dangling out of her mouth? I am absolutely disgusted. I have the mind to contact the health inspector and get them involved. There are other finer restaurants in Savanna I will frequent. I may have to pay a bit more; but, at least I know I'm getting quality and mindfulness with food handling. I know John Sullivan owns that location. If I were him, I would feel terribly ashamed and embarrassed of having a store be that negligent towards their patrons.

Bear's Drive-Inn caught our attention with the big bear on the side of the building. Pretty basic drinks and food as expected. The prices are pretty good for the area it seems. About the only people who come here are the locals and those who happen across it whole coming through going to somewhere else. It was warm and we thought to stop here. This is like the local version of Dairy Queen it seems. Got some cold treats including the Frazil. It's about $1.50 for the small one. This is basically a slushie. As for the hot food, it's basic. It's about $3 for a pretzel. This may be the healthiest food really. Other items are burgers and hot dogs. These looked pretty greasy from what we could see. Of course don't expect healthy. This is one of the few places to eat for miles. Has okay stuff but it's a classic. It's pretty easy to spot with the big bear on it. They're cash only, which is another bad thing.

Whether you live here in town, or are just passing through, I would definitely spend your money elsewhere.
