A nice new Popeyes. Will the service be better than others nearby which is generally not very good?…read moreComing in, it was pretty empty but everything was new and clean, the place looked nice. I ordered my food and it came out pretty quick. It was a to go order. I took my cup to the soda machine and tried one. Then the next. Then another. The machine and ingredients hadn't been set up properly. It was just basically soda syrup in a cup. It was nasty. I asked if they could fill the cup with whatever they used for the drive through, the girl claimed it was the same. Ok, so i spent $2 or $3 on disgusting syrupy liquid that I threw down the drain when I got home. For what it's worth, other than that, they were pretty kind and professional, and our food was good. I guess with Popeyes in San Diego, you can't have it all, though. Their management will read the bad reviews - I assume - and just keep doing the same things.

Although I've been a frequent patron of the KFC at San Ysidro Boulevard and Border Village Road for…read moreyears, I'm seriously contemplating taking a long, indefinite hiatus from visiting there again. I have many reasons for this. First, as I was at the restaurant on Tuesday morning, 30 July, I saw the same older (50s?) man that I've seen a number of times waltz into the restaurant and fill his Double Gulp cup from 7-Eleven with soda from KFC's dispenser do so again. The guy then went outside and smoked a cigarette at one of the tables RIGHT OUTSIDE the door. When I spoke with Luis (the manager in charge and the person who took my order) about it, he said that, although the guy shouldn't do that, he was helping Luis by cleaning the windows. (I wonder. If this guy wants to help so much, why doesn't he apply for a crew member or maintenance position? At the very least, why wasn't he given a KFC cup? At least THAT WAY he could perhaps do what he's doing a bit more "legitimately". As for him smoking right outside the door, he ought not do that at all.) Honestly, I don't care if the guy repainted the restaurant single-handedly and did a perfect job. Filling a cup that came from outside with soda from the restaurant's dispenser could still be a hygiene concern, as I mentioned to Luis. I also told him that doing so is almost like filling a cup that someone retrieved from the trash. At one point, I asked Luis if Karla (Carla?) is still the general manager. He replied that he's the manager in charge and the GM isn't available. I then told him that he didn't answer my question, and repeated the question. While I was waiting for my receipt that Luis told me from the outset wasn't readily available, he and I got into a bit of a not-so-pleasant conversation. I had walked back up to the counter twice after being told that my receipt would be ready in fifteen minutes, then five minutes respectively. When I was at the counter the third time (second return trip), I mentioned that I don't have all day. He then copped an attitude. Among other things, he said that I "always" complain about something. He also asked if I don't like the service at the restaurant, why don't I go elsewhere (as I recall)? When I told him he ought to drop his attitude, he told me that I need to do the same. I then asked who's the employee and who's the client? Also, at one point, he told me that he needed to attend to another client and I needed to leavr him alone. When I told him that he has no right to tell me what to do, he said that I don't have the right to tell him what to do, either. (I hadn't tried to tell him what to do. I just said that I don't have too much time to wait. )I then told him that he's on the wrong side of the counter to be telling me what to do. At one point, after leaving a message on Karla's (Carla's?) voicemail, I mentioned possibly contacting the health department. When Luis told me to do whatever I wanted, I thanked him for his invitation, but said I didn't need it. Although I could've carried myself better, Luis should've as well. At one point, I made a comment about him copping the attitude and expressed surprise that he's a manager. As I stated above, maybe I'll take Luis up on his invite to eat elsewhere.

My kids wanted popeyes so came to this place since this is the closest one to my house. It was…read morearound 5pm and I ordered 2 kids meals with tenders and a combo meal and extra order of their fried pickles. Service took forever even though I was the only one that came in the drive thru. The lady at the window handed me a bag and said everything's in there. But i had to remind her of my credit card. When me and my kids got home, i opened the kids meals and it only contained fries and the activity packs. No tenders at all! My order of pickle fries was also missing. So now i have kids starving and i ended up having to give them my combo meal instead. I called the store and spoke to a guy (which i saw in the window earlier that looked like a manager). I explained to him what happened and he said to come back to the store. I can't even go back anymore as it's another 20 mins back. I asked if he can just refund me my missing items and said that i still needed to come back to the store with the card. I'm beyond annoyed at this point so i asked what's the store number so i can complain to corporate which he had to put me on hold to find it. Like seriously?! I asked him if he was the manager and he said yes. As a manager, you should know your store number. I asked for his name and he just did not say anything. I waited a little and he refused to give me his name. I told him, that's okay, thank you for nothing and hung up. I then called the corporate office and submitted a complaint online. I will never go back to this place. I'd give them negative stars if i could.

We walked in around noon expecting the place to be fully packed and it was. In order to save time we went straight for the kiosk. Our chicken nuggets? Sauceless! When I went to ask for BBQ I was informed that "company policy only allowed for one sauce per customer". The kiosk has given me an option for three sauces. We were left to eat our stale 20 piece chicken nuggets with one sauce. Now, let's discuss the chicken sandwich. We ordered an Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich and received two buns with a nugget sized piece of Buttermilk Crispy Chicken. The disappointment! The horror! The service wasn't bad and the lady taking our order was nice (a bit on the shy side). I ordered the 5 pieces chicken tenders with Mac and cheese and fries. My boyfriend ordered a burger, fries and a drink. Our order was made fresh and quick. The fries were AWESOME! They were crispy and plumpy (yes, plumpy is now a word lol). I enjoyed the tenders too because they were plump and juicy and didn't have the dry or greasiness that a lot of other places make their tenders into. The mac and cheese was ok, but nothing overly awe inspiring. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger and combo mix (was very filling). Overall, a good place to try (especially if you're there before the rush!). I would highly recommend trying their chicken tenders.

They kept working, kept communicating, and while we waited, Elizabeth gave us a Crab Rangoon as a simple "thank you for waiting." That's it. A tiny gesture. The food was Panda good. The service was far better. It's easy to deliver good service when everything is going right.
