"Food, Glorious Food, Going to a deli…read more It makes me feel good, It makes me feel selly." (well, "silly" didn't rhyme, so if Ogden Nash could mangle words to make them fit his poems, then so can I) Oliver Twist from the crappy musical "Oliver!" would have a good time here. The menu has several selections of sammys for sale, both meat and non-meat. You can also pick out what extras you'd want: mayo, pickles, hot peppers, garlic, or oil (likely not 5W20). Location: On the road to Kountze. Too far to walk there from the high school, but close enough to the hospital. Several fast food restaurants within close distance. Parking lot is only one lane wide, but you should still be able to find parking. Know your limits. There are three sizes: 4 inch Skinny, 8 inch Original, 12 inch Big. The Hunny had a Chicken Club, I had Mama's Meatball. I marked mine down to 3 star because I had multigrain bread, and the strange grain taste overwhelmed everything else, and I've had better meatballs. The Hunny liked hers, and was pleasantly surprised to see bacon in there. For the less important things: Decor didn't really stand out. Service was with a smile. I joked about getting multigrain bread ("can you tell I'm from California?"), and the girl said "so's my boyfriend. He loved this one sandwich shop where he came from, and he said that Potbelly is better!" I doubt that anything can beat Capriotti's, but maybe there are selections at Potbelly that do. I'll need to investigate, heh heh. I ate at Firehouse Subs some time ago, and I think their food is better. I may have just gotten a raw deal at Potbelly this time, or maybe I should get white bread instead. Whatever. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is an option if you're in the area.

All home made, really good quality food…read more The owner came and talked to us for a while and seemed like a really nice guy who cares about his customers. The panini was cooked well and the chicken was juicy. My wife got BBQ chicken quesadillas, made with pulled chicken not diced, and it was also excellent. I closed with what they call the Espresso Float. Shots of espresso poured over your choice of ice cream (homemade in house). I got praline crunch ice cream, which was great. I can't wait to come back - I think I'll go with chicken and dumplings next time.

It's a cute little cafe that serves delicious sandwiches that are homemade along with their homemade ice cream! We got got the chicken caprese paninis and let me tell you, the bread was so fresh and the pesto was wicked good. We both enjoyed some of their ice cream--I actually liked my husband's ice cream flavor, Root beer, a lot more than the one I chose, which was Red Velvet. The staff was super friendly! I think they refilled my tea at least 10 times. Great atmosphere and if you need a massage, hair cut, or your nails done...you can bounce on back and do that too--my husband did!

Management makes it a point to bring the sights of south of the border to Silsbee. Murals of the scenery and the chicas. Rancheiro music plays. Okay, so the wait staff are nearly all Gringos, but who cares? They're good with their service, and that's what counts. I had a chimichanga covered with queso, with refried beans & rice. It was good and beefy, but small for $12.95. In contrast, the Hunny and I celebrated Mothers Day at a different Mexican place, and for the same price, I got a burrito 12 inches wide. This chimichanga was what, 5 inches? So Mi Pueblo is good but overpriced. In solid three star territory. It's an option.

The owner said, "isn't the first time, won't be the last." Obviously quality and customer don't matter here. Their only solution was to remove the nachos from ticket, when no one in the party was able to even finish their meals. The most most appropriate recourse would have been to comp the entire ticket, or at least discount a significant amount. Not looking for a free meal, just looking for a meal we could actually eat with no bugs in it.
