The menu sounded promising (although overpriced for a food truck) with some nice classic sandwiches on offer. I ordered the "mumia" ($12) - which I have to assume is a play on Mumia Abu-Jamal who is from Philadelphia, home of the cheesesteak? Anyhoo... The description was very cheesesteak like with sirloin beef, pepperjack cheese, sauteed onions and peppers. The addition of garlic aioli moved away from the classic as did the usage of pepperjack instead of provolone. When I unwrapped the sandwich, I was torpedoed with an excessive amount of a watery oily substance dripping all over the place. It got all over everything - not in a good way. Biting into the sandwich was the next torpedoing. The bread was stale. I don't mean day old. I mean stale. Next torpedo: the beef was chewy, gristly, and very oily. The peppers were the best part - but they too were overly oily. Basically each bite gave you a mouthful of stale bread, a piece of oily gristle flavoured by an oily pepper and a drippy oily substance (perhaps a broken aioli?). I couldn't eat the bread. Tried picking off the meat and veggies to eat, but gave up as they were too awful on their own. There was a small line when I approached the truck initially but their service was quick giving customers their sandwich within about 2-4 minutes of order, not entirely sure what the standard is for food trucks but for me that's good. The lady up front taking the orders was very friendly and was happy to help answer our questions. They only offered a few options but what I had to try was the jerk chicken sandwich as I had stopped a girl just minutes before and attempted to waft hers. Again service was fairly quick and I receive my sandwich within a few minutes. I don't think the picture I've posted will do it any justice but this baby was a beauty. The bun tasted quite fresh and almost melted in my mouth, the chicken and enough spice and flavour and the rest was just bomb. It is quite filling I found which is what you're looking for, good bang for buck. Definitely gonna track these down every time I'm downtown. Amazing experience for my taste buds.

My mistake as I just looked at the picture and didn't read the description. Quite misleading in that case. It was not spicy at all at medium spice. It was very salty. I was quite disappointed with the dish. Maybe other dishes like the curry and pad see siew would be better? That seemed to be what others were ordering. They do not offer beef as a protein option here. Only chicken, pork, tofu and shrimp. At that price point, I'll rather go to my Thai restaurant where I know the basil chicken dish (pad kra pow) will taste good.

However, maybe it was Toots and The Maytals playing on the stereo in the truck with the Steve the chef swaying to the beat, or fond memories of Rosarita Beach in the Baja, but when I laid eyes on the Lobster Taco posted on their Specials of the Day, I was weak in the knees. When my order arrived less than 5 minutes later, I was a goner. Soft, warm corn tortillas filled to the brim with juicy chunks of fresh, tender lobster layered with organic local mixed greens and topped with generous dollops of a chunky, tangy homemade guacamole. My friend, whose taste runs more to the carne ordered the Apple smoked pulled pork BBQ, served with Jack Daniels BBQ sauce, Howe Sound Brewery Great Northern baked beans, Pacific rim Coleslaw and zucchini/jalapeno corn bread. So if you're motoring up the coast and see the purple truck, hit the brakes, pull over, grab your cash and have the best roadside meal on the west coast. They had the plexiglass on the counter, the staffs wore masks and gloves, and sanitizing liquid was available so all good there. Washrooms were all "out of order" for some reason which wasn't comvenient though. Some of the tables were not wiped up and there were crumbs on the floor before we sat down so it wasn't really that clean compared to other subways i've recently been to. The dining area looks modern and spacious enough. The food and service was alright. I walked in at 2pm and ordered the meatball marinara 6". They made it on a timely manner and was served quickly. It tasted alright and the toppings that they gave were ample. Not bad at all!
