Dairy Queen in Monte Vista, CO, is one of very few places to take the kids out for ice cream…read more I can handle that. My crew and I went through the drive-thru on 9/2/2023. It's an easy place to get in and out of. The speaker was in good working condition. The employees were kind and worked quickly to get our order out even though they made me wait in an area just past the pickup window. My kiddos got soft-serv with their kids meal. It was a beautiful work of art on a warm day. I found it odd that an employee asked if they wanted their ice cream now or later. At the drive-thru! Lol. No complaints about our order that afternoon. Giving a bad review to restaurants usually isn't my thing…read more But today I had the third or fourth bad experience at the Dairy Queen in Monte Vista, Co. It took them 20 minutes to bring my food out to my car. I wasn't the only one, 3-4 cars waited that long also. As I said not the first time, but the longest wait. Yes they were busy. But in the last couple months this has been the norm. Here is my suggestion, if you can't get my food to me within a few minutes, then don't take any more orders until you can fulfill the orders you have in the queue. That way if someone doesn't want to wait in line that long they can leave. Once we have payed for our meals, most won't leave. Please get it together management.

It's a cute, clean cafe with so many made from scratch items - bread, cakes, pies, cinnamon rolls (we had 2), and many other items. Service was quick and friendly. What a total delight of a surprise…read more We were driving from Durango to Conifer, did a quick "best lunch near me" search, and stumbled into this absolute gem. Honestly didn't expect much... and then boom -- one of the best roadside meals we've had in a long time. I'm not even a burger person, but the Burgatory burger completely won me over. Just the right kick of spice without overpowering the flavor -- juicy, balanced, and seriously satisfying. My husband ordered the same thing but went all in with the double, and let's just say there were zero regrets. The waffle fries? Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- exactly what you hope for and rarely get. And the beer selection -- such a pleasant surprise. Ice cold, thoughtfully curated, and bonus points for having great options for those of us who lean toward reds and browns (anything but an IPA, thank you very much). We ended up lingering longer than planned, playing Taco vs. Burrito (highly recommend for a few laughs), and then... the grand finale: banana coconut cheesecake. I mean... are you kidding me right now?! Unexpected and ridiculously good. If you're passing through South Fork, don't just drive by. This place is worth the stop.

I did not want to eat in my car while driving and wanted to relax for bit so I avoided the drive through. Since nobody bothered to show up I said screw it and left.
