Bigger isn't always better. Sometimes, the simplest is the best. I'm pretty sure those words have been coined by a philosopher back in ancient times, but apparently, they hold true for Subway sandwiches. I was running short on time, and I had to be somewhere else on a Friday evening, so I didn't really have much time for dinner, which had to be earlier than usual for me. I wasn't sure where to eat, honestly, until I got an email that morning from Subway. The email told me I had a reward for 20% off any footlong, and with my current point total on Subway's MVP Rewards, any footlong purchase would have earned me a $2 credit on my next Subway purchase. At the time of my visit, it was the end of the year, and I wasn't sure if my current point total would have reset after the New Year. So why not something quick and easy? And at a discounted price no less? I scheduled a pickup time and arrived about 7 minutes early. There were a couple of customers in line at the far end of the shop with just as many employees behind the counter making their sandwiches. One of them asked if I was here for pickup. I said yes, but before I was able to say my name, she said it for me, to my surprise. On one hand, I thought it was kind of cool they did that, but on the other hand, it's possible that another male customer could have come in and posed as me, thus taking my sandwich that I had already paid for through the app. I didn't want anything over the top like the Beast sandwich, which I had (and didn't like) from the Subway on Del Amo and Palo Verde. Something no-frills would have sufficed. The Cold Cut Combo caught my eye, and if even Happy Gilmore endorsed it, I'm sure I would enjoy it. And I did! Much more than the Beast sandwich, that's for sure! Just a couple minutes after being acknowledged, the other employee fetched me my sandwich and handed it to me. I took it to a seat in the near corner of the shop and ate my sandwich there. When you order on the app, you can request your choice of bread and if you want it toasted or not toasted. You can also choose your cheese and any selection of vegetables. I chose the toasted Hearty Multigrain for my bread and the Pepper Jack for my cheese. I also chose more of all the vegetables with the exception of banana peppers, which I asked them to hold. For the sauce, I went with more creamy sriracha, but I also hoped they wouldn't drown my sandwich with that sauce as good as it may sound. I had forgotten about the special instructions field on this order, but I was willing to have the sandwich all in one piece. However, the sandwich was actually cut in half. I think they went a little heavy on the creamy sriracha, or at least they didn't distribute the sauce to my liking, but I'm glad they didn't completely drown the sandwich in it lol. I'm not convinced the bread was toasted, and I don't think they actually added more of all the vegetables like I requested. However, in spite of these minor grievances, I still enjoyed the sandwich as a whole, and it gave me the energy I needed to get me through that evening on a good note. There's a good amount of seating inside, mostly by the right wall, but there are also a couple of tables a slight left away from the front door. The interior looked upkept, so you can definitely plan on enjoying your sandwich(es) there. One thing I want to caution is that when you order online, there are two Subway locations on South Street in Long Beach. The one on 2183 South Street is on Cherry and South, in the same plaza where Food4Less used to be before its untimely demise. This one, just a couple city blocks east, is in the same building as Walmart, though at the westernmost end of that building. When choosing my pickup location, I had to consult Google Maps to ensure I knew which location was which. I'm pretty sure some customers have gone to the wrong Subway location, so please heed caution and don't get them confused! Overall, I enjoyed my visit to this Subway, and I would recommend if you're looking for something fast and affordable.

Never coming here again. I ordered a FOOTLONG #22 and this is what I got. Meat was literally for a 6inch sub. This fool freaking stretched out a thin line and said it's for a foot long. Greedy ass subway ever!!! This subway definitely doesn't deserve a 3.5 star. Indian street food vendor gives bigger portion than this place.

the best Jass.

Gave this place another try and I'm so glad I did! Huge improvement--the staff is super friendly, the restaurant is much cleaner, and the whole vibe feels better. Big shoutout to Jass for being so professional, helpful, and hardworking. He really made my visit a great one. Definitely coming back! Thank you for caring for my allergies!

Dried out nasty bread

There's many reasons why I think subway "SUCKS" and Jersey mikes has been my go to sandwich shop for a very long time now. My daughter loves subway (teenagers ???) so on this day I decided to go against my own judgement and bought a sandwich from subway, it was also BOGO, what's the worst that can happen? I get sick ? God I hope not. So I scroll their menu and come across a sandwich that looks decent ( #18 the ultimate BMT ) what was ultimate about it was that it was definitely an ultimate disappointment . First I've never cared for their bread it's always so dried out and as you can see by my pics it is literally falling apart, part because it was toasted which I didn't ask for but maybe it was in the description that it's a toasted sandwich, so that's my fault for not reading completely. Next I'm comparing my sad looking sandwich to the one in their menu, ya day and night, but I guess that's to be expected these days from any advertised food. So I'll just let the pictures tell the story. Will I ever ever be back ? That's a firm " HELL NO ", all I wish is that subway can be one of those places going under like some other chain restaurants. Is that harsh ? "NA"

Store front

I buy the chicken bacon ranch sandwich I had a coupon for any foodlong for $ 5.99 but ledis there was Rude she charge me $ 9.91 almost $10 . Asked why's she's started she do want give discount on coupon. Be careful on this pleace there's trying to still you from your poket She change Extra $3 for getting nothing. I will never going back again on this pleace be aware of this please I don't mind for Extra she change me but it's very unfair unfairly to the customer. This post just for the awareness's for other Costmer sho is looking going in future.

The server (owner?) asked if we wanted cheese and Cole slaw, and that's how we got it. The sandwich was big enough to share so if the sandwich seems pricey, consider sharing. Although on a hungry day, I could probably eat it all with no problem. Dilly's has a fairly decent amount of craft beers on draft. I wasn't in a beer-drinking mood so I didn't look too closely at the list. I love it when restaurants support local brewers, and this looks like the kind of place that would do just that.

Heard about Dilly's Sandwiches having the most unique rotating set of beers on tap in Long Beach,…read moreso had to come to try it. The taste portions were very reasonably priced, allowing to create your own flight (or two). Specifically scheduled an early afternoon to come to the Lakewood Village neighborhood of East Long Beach. My wife found an angled parking spot right in front. It wasn't too crowded inside and the four of us found easy, comfortable seating in the brightly decorated dining room. One places and pays for the order at the counter, with the proprietors being very friendly and engaged. They brought out our beers after the pour, and the sandwiches a bit after (since each is individually carefully made). Beers: - Northern Lager [Oxbow] - ($5 for 13oz pour) was clean, crisp and a hoppy aftertaste. - Infinite Hotel [The Wayfinder X Bierstadt] (marked as $3 but charged $4) is a rice lager and was the favorite of the group for its drinkability - Winteruption [JK's Farmhouse] ($3) is a cider with very strong maple syrup overtones: never tasted anything like it. - Hyper Paradise [Rare Barrel] ($4) - saison and ale with mango and passion fruit. I liked this beer very much. - A Place Like Home [Pure Project] ($3) - Nitro poured Extra Special Bitter. - Double Negative [Grimm] ($4) - Imperial Stout, which I really enjoyed. - Amongst Friends [Sante Adairius] ($4) - a cherry saison, unusual and was glad to sample. A lot of work was put into creating this flight, with the careful pours and markings to make sure I knew what was what. I really appreciated the opportunity to sample all of these on-tap. In terms of the food, the group as a whole really liked them, though I guess I wasn't as impressed with my two samples, mainly because it used non-descript deli meat in OK quantities, heating them up when necessary. Hot Beef ($18) was my wife's, and it had been griddled with cheese to form a crispy lattice. The Ham and Cheese ($16) was served cold and had potato chips inside which my mother-in-law liked (saving the other half for home). Our friend and I split the Hot Turkey ($16) and Pastrami No 19 style ($20). The pastrami meat was piled high and the cole slaw was crisp and good, but was served cold (should have read the description more closely) and mediocre rye bread broke apart quickly. The Hot Turkey ($16) was served on ciabatta that had been grill pressed for a long time, creating a wonderful crust as good as any sandwich I've had. But the filling was OK, using standard turkey breast slices from a loaf and an ok stuffing...using hand carved turkey would have made a big difference here, but understand it's hard to do. Strangely, even though it's a pickle adorned shop, each sandwich just came with an ordinary pickle spear, what one would expect from a diner, not a deli. And the prices are on the higher side, especially with no sides and most not being particularly ginormous. But I loved how each sandwich used different breads, and how some of them were toasted very well. And having the opportunity to try these unique beers made it a really good experience.

Once open, I was ready to check out Mendocino Farms for the first time. The menu at Mendocino Farms consists primarily of sandwiches, salads & soup. After a quick perusal, I thought the Peruvian Steak sandwich best whet my appetite. Peruvian Steak sandwich- Spicy aji amarillo marinated steak with Oaxacan cheese, herb aioli, red onions, tomatoes, shredded romaine on a toasted potato roll. I quite liked this. Tender steak, with fatty cheese. The vegetables provided contrast & texture. For my purchase, I went with a side of Southern Potato Salad. It was good, but similar to grocery deli potato salad. In hindsight, I should've purchased avocado added to my Peruvian Steak sandwich. Service was excellent. All hands were on deck, as Mendocino Farms opened only a few days prior. Each employee had a name badge, specifying their name & which entree was their favorite, helping indecisive customers choose what to get. Plenty of seating indoors & al fresco. Parking is at LBX, with Mendocino Farms being across Georgia's and facing the Hangar at LBX. I found the Peruvian Steak sandwich delicious, yet meager in quantity, considering the regular price. It's more of a substantial snack, than a full meal, in my case. However, it's great to have another quality food option in the area, and I look forward to coming back & exploring the rest of menu.
