The food used in the display was very well displayed and fresh and clean. This place is the best Subway I have ever been to. I have been eating at Subways for decades. The store was part of other stores and all were run by a guy that was a real great person to buy from and he was helpful. I will return to this place as the place to eat in Lake Issabella. read more

I have never been a Subway fan but I became even less of one when they changed their counters and instead of individual covers on the veggies they have them all stored uncovered together and just lift the glass...so now your lettuce and tomato and everything else tastes like onions. But this spot is particularly bad because as a paying customer then when I ask for veggies I shouldn't be one charged for those veggies and then extra charged if I ask for more...and when I ask for avocado I was charged 4.00 for two small slivers of the avocado it was ridiculous...I won't be back... read more

The Italian sub was so good, but I got food poisoning, and it was truly painful. I suspect it was the brown lettuce that was on my sandwich. I haven't been to Subway in awhile, mostly due to their declining quality and price increases, and it will be a long time until I return. Subway is my go to quick meal choice. Recently I had to drive to the Kern River Valley and decided to pick up a sandwich for lunch. This was my first visit to this subway. It was clean and well stocked inside and the manager/owner was very friendly gentleman. However, my sandwich was practically inedible. When the preparer grabbed the bread and cut it in half it fell apart - I almost asked for a different piece of bread... I should have. Everything I requested was included on my sandwich but it was too much moisture and she could barely keep it together to roll in the paper. When I opened it to eat it--- it was a big blob of mush. They were very impatient and the older Indian man working make a sexist comment as we were leaving saying to my boyfriend "see she's cooking for you" when he handed us the food. The meat is already skimpy, I count on the veggies to fill me up! As far as the food goes, its okay. The owner is what makes this place DESERVE a one star rating. My personal experience with him is this: I found that I was being taxed for sandwiches thst other Subways did not tax me on. The time that pushed me over the edge was a time that I drove from across the lake to get there with exactly $7.00 for a sandwich that had always been $6.75. I got taxed and didn't have enough to cover the $7.26. I had to drive home, fortunately not that far from the business, get some change, and drive back to pay. I was furious. So I looked up the tax law and it turns out that all warm prepared meals are to be taxed, however cold meals (such as sandwiches) are not taxed. I did not have my sandwich toasted, so there should have been no tax. I wrote a really good, relatively nice, complaint to Subway who did absolutely nothing except forward it straight to the establishment. I got a call from the owners wife who asked me to come in and she'll make it right. I came in, told her the same story I shared above, and she just kept saying she will make it right. So she tells me to order a sandwich. I proceed to order the same one I ordered in question and she builds it, overall very pleasant... but then I get to the end just after picking the veggies and oit from the back comes the owner. He immediately takes command of the cash register, you can almost see the dollar signs in his eyes. He proceeds to ring me up and I could see the fear in his wife's eyes. She kept saying sorry to me and offered me some free cookies. Im not making this up. I thought I was getting a feee sandwich for my troubles, but she didn't want to upset her husband so I (the customer) had to take the hit. When she hurried and shoved some cookies in a bag and handed them over I could see the anger in the owners eyes. Anyway, I really dont go in there too much anymore. When I do I try to make sure the white suv with the license plate that says "BALRAM" is not there. Cause one more overcharge or seeing him treat someone like hell and I might just go over the edge. They're employees, not slaves. Otherwise I've heard dozens of horror stories about the food. I won't go into that, but just know its a small town and word travels fast of any health violations. read more
