I had a ok sub here. Staff was polite and quick. Next time I would add extra meat. It's a decent place for a sub sandwich.

I had one whole plate of food, no room for anything else and my plate was cleaned, except for the bones from the incredibly tender baked chicken and the fried chicken. Both were fantastic but I preferred the baked chicken. The baked chicken was so tender and moist it fell off the bone. The yams were probably my favorite but the Mac n cheese was a close second and I usually don't like macaroni and cheese. My opinion is- it's hard to get it right (still rambling about the Mac n cheese) but here we are and Viola's got it very right! My husband loved the collard greens and he's never a fan. Best dessert was the peach cobbler, I'm super picky with deserts and the spice cake, choc cake and sweet potato pie was ok. I didn't try the brownie. Restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. Cute and stylish decor. The service was great, loved the jazz music. It was a great experience! Please check this cute and local place out, price is fantastic and you can't beat the food. So glad we stopped here.

A place called Val's looked good from the reviews, but it was closed (on a Saturday?), we really didn't have many other choices in town so we figured we'd head to Cracker Barrel. Bad experience waiting in an almost empty restaurant, so we figured why not here? We've eaten here before, and liked it. I'm guessing they are under new ownership or something? Gone are the ladies we have seen before, and they do a robust take-out business, though you can still eat in and the service is just as fantastic. We weren't in the mood for pizza, so Italian entrees it was. First off, everything comes in take out containers now. It's not great for the environment, but I get it. In this economy it's tough for restaurants. If they can save some money not having a full time dishwasher, then so be it. We started with side salads - Hubby had the Ceasar, and it was good. Fresh ingredients and the dressing was pleasant. My side garden was the same - fresh, with plenty of cucumber, red onion and tomatoes. The blue cheese dressing surprised me, as it was filled with chunks of blue cheese. I'm sure they do t make it themselves, so I was not expecting that. Nice! Hubby had Manicotti and really enjoyed it. The sauce was balanced, not too sweet, plenty of ricotta stuffed inside and a ton of melted mozzarella on top. My baked spaghetti was the same. HUGE portions for a really reasonable price. And the garlic bread was so good! Crunchy on the outside and oh so soft on the inside. Lots of garlic butter, too. I almost purchased more to take back to the camper! All in all a nice experience. This is not a Michelin star place. As long as you keep your expectations realizing that, you'll enjoy it. It's a reasonably priced red sauce joint with a really nice staff. The next time we need to eat in Emporia, we'll be happy to stop here.

I was not sure I was in the right place until I saw the second door inside. I went in and stood by the checkout as there was no indication if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated. I just started walking to a booth and was then told to sit anywhere. The first booth I sat in was really dirty so I moved to another which was a little better. A sweet young girl took my drink order and said help yourself. That is how I learned it was the buffet only. No menu, no sign to tell you, no price posted. I wanted breakfast but had to eat what was there.....wish I had looked first and left... There was baked chicken, some kind of beef ( I think) and fried chicken. There was green beans, cabbage, corn on the cob, canned sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese ,rice and mashed potatoes. The chicken was good and the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were good . On the other side of the small buffet was a salad bar with typical options. It was ok except the potato salad was sooo sweet...??! Tea was good but no offer of a refill. I asked for one to go at the register. There's a soft serve machine with vanilla only and a few things for toppings. There are no spoons there...and you eat it out of a styrofoam coffee cup... I was very surprised at the price, especially since the main portion of the buffet was so small. Oh well....just know not to stop here next year.

It's…read moretime for an in-depth honest review of this place and its quality of food, on THIS side, and, yes, if you are so inclined, go through my profile and read the reviews of the one I left in Carlsbad Commiefornia. Two stars, go exclusively to the employees/staff. These guys were hustlin and bustlin. Two guys behind the counter, and one guy on the floor cleaning his butt off. Needless to say, the place was immaculately clean, but to be fair, with their lack of clientele, I couldn't see how it wouldn't be. The two guys behind the counter, were super professional, and overall great guys. As a matter of fact if I lived here, I would be doing everything in my power to take them from this place and have them work for me!! So I ordered, a hamburger "all the way" which I feel completely silly to not only order something like that, but to have to physically say it, fries, which I was offered a Cajun flavoring, that I was never offered before on the West Coast. So of course I went with it. There was a very nice older lady behind me, so I paid my fountain drink forward and gave it to her. So this combo meal came to around 20 bucks. In my eyes, absolutely ridiculous. Now if you read my reviews, I'm not a Stifler. I have no problem dropping $400 or $500 on dinner, with a $100 bottle of wine. So I'm not some broke a** complaining about prices, but you have to compare prices to quality in the end. The fries were really good. That little Cajun seasoning gave it that extra kick that made them better than ordinary. I'm not too sure how much the fries would be without the seasoning, but I would be willing to bet $2 or $3 less. But I must commend the marketing on the CFOs of this place, to be able to charge $2 for a couple shakes of a spice that would cost literally 1/10 of 1 cent. Again, the burger, lackluster and lacking flavor. The cook was making it exactly how he was trained, just to be clear!! Outside of the mushrooms and onions and bun, there was really nothing that stood out. So in that sense from the other five guys I've been to, pretty similar. But to charge $10 for a hamburger, of that caliber, for lack of a better term it's just ridiculous, but people keep buying them, so five guys CEOs keep selling them. It's one of those "trendy" things, nah mean? So I can say that I've tried this place from coast to coast, and I will most likely never ever set foot in another one. The food quality just isn't there, and I can't justify spending 20 bucks on a burger and fries, when there's an all-you-can-eat buffet right next door for 15 bucks. I hope the manager reads this, because he really needs to take care of his employees. Those cats are top notch, and I even threw them a couple dollar tip!! Sorry 5 guys, I'll stick to In-N-Out and Burger King.
