It's an open table/communal table concept with a very long table inside you sit at, a bar, and just a few two-top tables that are more private. Our waitress was very nice and competent. We liked her a lot and the vibes were just easy going and friendly. We had a few things on the menu that looked good when we walked in and some plans - we thought we were probably going to for sure try the Beer Brisket Sandwich and or the Gyro. In the end we got: -two orders of Brisket Tacos with dipping sauce and greens (special that night) - soooooo good! -side of kale slaw - the rice wine vinaigrette was so good I could've just drank it! -Baked Amish Pretzel - topped with bacon and cheese. Loved this! My friend has a soy allergy - which can be tough at a restaurant, but our waitress was awesome and the whole staff were pros. She checked things out and promptly with the chef and came back to tell her what the chef recommended. 10 out of 10 - our favorite meal in the Finger Lakes by far. Fair prices and on the historic Market Street in a stellar location for shopping, walking, and just enjoying yourself.

I should've left. I specifically asked if the turkey in the Rueben-esque Turkey panini was deli slices or more like breast Thanksgiving style. They said it wasn't slices. When it came out - it was like sliced deli meat from Wegman's. Not what I wanted. The panini itself was huge and warm and fresh enough. But, I asked three times for clarification on the turkey and they acted put out but still told me wrong, so I wasn't happy and felt misled. My friend got a Chef Salad what was huge and fresh. It looked delicious. I also got an iced brewed tea and when I went up for a refill, again, death stare like I had done something wrong by asking. Not even remotely impressed with service or attitudes here. Menu looked good but this small street has tons and tons of places to eat with much kinder and friendlier staff. I'm over entitled food service staff making me feel like I'm an inconvenience spending $30 on a sandwich and tea.

We found the Elf in the Oak on Yelp and once we saw the menu, we knew we had to give it a try. The Elf in the Oak is nestled on Rt 414. If you're not actively using a GPS, you may pass it by. It's not a large place by any means, but there's more than enough seating indoors and out. We went on a Friday morning, so there wasn't a wait and we received our food quickly. We both wanted 'the Spicy' and I have to admit, it's one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had, which is high praise coming from someone who once worked at a popular bagel joint on Long Island. If we lived locally, we'd definitely go back, but I hope if you're looking for a quick casual brunch place to grab a bite, you consider visiting the Elf In The Oak.

My favorites were the Fruit of the Bloom which is infused with ginger as well as the Funkhouse. I liked how crisp the funkhouse was and I loved the ginger note in fruit of the bloom. The others were okyay too, persici was very sweet but paired nicely with the ginger hazelnut baklava which was incredible! I am allergic to pistachios, so I loved that I could eat their baklava! We also tried the cornbread with strawberry and jalapeno butter- absolutely incredible. I am from the south and have had a lot of cornbread but this truly stands out. It came out warm with a slight crunch from the crust while maintaining the perfect crumb inside. Just crumbly enough and not too try! I also really enjoyed the jalapeno and strawberry butters- you can tell they use high quality butter, they almost reminded me of goat cheese. I preferred the jalapeno butter a tad more but both were great! The exterior is beautiful- the views are very nice. I would highly recommend coming on a warm day and sitting outside. We initially sat on the balcony but moved due to the bees. The tables underneath the white tent were shaded and bee-free. Service was pretty quick- our ciders came out almost immediately. We had to wait ~10-15 minutes for the cornbread though, but I didn't mind especially given it was warm! Overall, I would highly recommend!

We were so sad we had already eaten, because they have a huge smoker on site and do pulled pork sammies on a daily basis as well as on the weekend all kinds of bbq, including ribs, house made chorizo and sides. My friend and I both tried the flight, and we both ordered different ciders so we could try each other's. We especially liked the strawberry infused one best (fragaria) with the cidre blanc coming in second. We also learned that there is live music on Fridays with the bbq, and there is a huge tent with tons of seating for large crowds. Service was wonderful, although we did come on a nonbusy weekday. Definitely a great spot for the area.
