This company is hands down stealing from customers. We have been with them for since arround 1992 and their prices have been higher then they should be. Our last fill was at over $7 per gallon. Our new rate is $1.74 per gallon. That is not an introductory rate either. When I called Suburban Propane about this, they refused to work with us on pricing. In addition they are not spraying down the tanks and checking for leaks durring refills and are refusing to pick up their tank for over a month now. Dont take my word for this, Look at the photo attached and read the other reviews.

They made an arbitrary, unrequested, unauthorized delivery to my vacation home in South Bend. When…read moreI called an attendant (Ms. Carbone) she admitted the error and said she would have a manager call me. After 3 weeks with no contact I called them again, spoke to the same person and she promised to have a manager call me to resolve the issue. Manager "Joanne" called me and was extremely rude and knew nothing of the situation. I asked her to have Ms. Carbone brief her, review the file and call me back. She never did. Instead several weeks later my neighbor informed me they had removed my tank, and left the lines hanging, stealing my remaining inventory in the process. I called and was referred to District Manager "Kelly" who did not help and said "Georgia" at corporate collections would call me. That never happened either.....a pretty harsh way to treat a customer with an 800+ credit rating who has literally never paid a bill late once in his entire life. They are not a locally owned company as their website proclaims and it is seemingly not possible to get a hold of a reasonable person who cares about their reputation or the way they treat their customers. This is not embellished in any way nor are any facts omitted. This is a true and factual account of what transpired in Jan-Mar 2026.

They provide a safety check upon each visit. I have never run out of fuel, even when it snows. The customer service is excellent from all the employees I have spoken with either in person or by phone. Drivers are courteous and hard working, every time. For those concerned about costs also understand what you receive. A home grown, clean energy source, which is abundant here in our country. No more financially supporting unfriendly nations. I have 2 - 120 gallon tanks, one for heat & cooking and one for a gas grill. They now offer a new service where you pay for what you use on a specific cycle so it is also budget friendly. These are the only people I trust with my heating and cooking needs.

PacWest was GREAT. They were "forced/priced" to "retire". Suburban Propane's 1st story was PW 'went…read moreout of business' & SP had 'taken over' all PW customers. Their refill quote in February was triple the price of propane at gas stations, due to my 'low consumption'. I told them to pound sand and make an appointment with me for tank removal. They sent several tank rental fee letters with past due charges; with no proof of ownership, no past, current or new contract, nothing but a bill; 5 red flags. I called again to refute the charge & they said tank removal would cost me $150; 50% more than a year of rent conveniently. I should send them a past due STORAGE fee. This is America and I will choose who provides my services. They did not acknowledge my first conversation, their story NOW was PW owner "retired"; red flag! Past due charges after I refuse any business with them and tell them to retrieve the tank! SP does not own that contract u had with PW. Shop around. Buy a 60 gallon tank or two and fill at a station. Have a handyman assist. SP's practices will have you paying 2 to 3 times or EVEN MORE than necessary. They downplayed all their negative reviews; red flag! THIS IS AMERICA & unfortunately capitalism can mean the big invisible corporation will force the 5 star local businesses out & jack prices up each time they gobble up another. Self Protection is what SP should stand for; BUYER BEWARE. Thank goodness for YELP! I was lucky to have read up on SP. The sound of my head popping out of nowhere land was LOUD. Do not say yes, do not sign, do accept propane, do not pay for rental or removal I to a company you did not contract with. Ask them to remove your info from your records. Record your phone calls with them, at least take very good notes. Happy & Safe 4th to all; FREEDOM!

They also installed a wi-fi receptor to inform me and the company when my tank gets to 20% and someone automatically comes out to refill. couldn't ask for better/easier servicing.

Horrible experience we basically got scammed and told it was our fault. Read this review and make…read morethe decision for yourself. First off I'd like to say that the assistant manager has top-notch customer service and is an example of a great leader and person who should be running a business. 5 Stars for him. Now this review is about the owner of store. As you can see in the first photo, that is the level of the gas gage when we left the Facility. After using their cargo van, we went to fill up the gas before bringing it back into return. We filled the gas in increments of $10 and checking the gas gauge to make sure we weren't overfilling it more than we needed. Once we hit $30 I was thinking to myself we must've used quite a bit of gas. We continued to fill the vehicle until the gas pump clicked, indicating that the tank was full and that was $50 later. Yet the gas gauge still showed that we didn't have enough gas in the vehicle. That is why I made the video so I could bring it in and show it to one of the associates. As you can see the gas gage after filling it didn't go up at all. I thought to myself no big deal it's a faulty gas gauge they'll take care of us when we get back in there to return it. Upon arriving we explained to the owner of the store exactly what happened. He immediately got defensive denying any responsibility over his business and equipment and told us that we should have filled the gas based on recorded amount on the invoice that we received and to disregard with the gas gauge showed. With the insanely high fees that they charge if you don't return the vehicles with the right amount of gas no way. We just wanted to inform him that he had faulty equipment just in case another customer had to deal with the same issue. I don't know what was going through his head when he decided that telling us to disregard the gas gauge was going to be a good solution to tell us but it seems like he pulled it out of nowhere. After explaining to him, we trusted that your equipment was working so we filled it up based on the gas gauge like we always have. He basically made us feel stupid and said that it was our fault and that he's not responsible. The crazy thing is we didn't even ask for a refund so I didn't understand why he was so defensive and immediately jumped to it's not his responsibility. I come from a very large family 8 siblings who all used this location for many years and have never had any issues until dealing with the owner of the store. We basically got scammed and I have a feeling that this isn't his first rodeo doing this to paying customers. Word of advice if you are reading this drive down the street to another location. Or at the very least wait to work with any of the other employees working there and stand clear of the owner and if you're wondering who he is trust me, you'll know just from the disgusted/ irritated look on his face that's impossible to miss. Everyone else will greet you with a smile and will gladly take care of you. Hope this helps, and I hope the owner of the store uses this as constructive criticism to be and do much better.

Set up a reservation online to rent a cargo van and came in to get it. Rep. Donisha Hindman…read moreexplained that since I only use debit cards even though they have a Visa logo, I would be unable to rent one due to U-Haul policy. I have rented cargo vans before at this location with the same card and never encountered this issue. Granted, U-Haul's policy could have changed since the last time that I rented but I doubt it. My wife made a comment in a normal tone of voice about the change in policy and how off putting it was a customer and Ms.Hindman's response was snarky and rude. Ms. Hindman led me outside to show me what she COULD rent me all the while saying to herself and anyone that was in listening range - meaning me - that she didn't want to hear complaints about policy from customers. We understand that Ms. Hindman does not set the policy and that she has to abide by it for her job but she does not get to be rude to the customer about it. My contract states that I rented the truck from Thursday morning at whatever time I rented it and was to return it Monday, June 26 by 7 am. I have a full time job in another city that I have to be at, at 8 am. so I brought the truck to the shop and dropped it off Sunday night, dropping the keys in the locker thing. I personally came in at 7am today, Monday, June 26 to get my final close out bill and was told by the clerk that I could not get it because he had other things to do. Let me say that again.....a customer is in the shop and the clerk is saying that he could not help me because he had other things to do and that he will get around to it. I would love to tell you his name, but can't because he did not have a name tag on. He had reddish hair and a full beard. When I dropped off the truck Sunday evening and placed the keys in the locker, there was a sign that said that the truck remained in my name and my responsibility until the shop opened in the morning. When I was leaving the shop, after having been told that I was not important enough as a customer to be serviced right then and that he would GET AROUND TO IT, he casually mentioned that he would have to add on a $20 charge because it was a convenience to drop the truck off and use the locker. I'M SORRY? A CONVENIENCE? My contract states that the truck is mine until 7 am today, the truck and the keys were there at 7am, I was there at 7am. When I finally received the bill about an hour later via email, granted the $20 was not on the bill but to be told that I was facing a new and unexpected fee was a slap in the face and to be told over and over again by him that he HAD to charge it because it was in the contract - after I got to work, it wasn't in there - i read that one page print out that shows my signature and no mention of it. Every year there is a local Comic-Con in the area, not to mention the local Toy Shows that I attend and I have always used U-Haul and rented from this location in the past but I will no longer be returning - there are plenty of other truck rental places out there that do not have this level of customer disrespect and nickel and dime-ing. EVEN IF I HAVE TO GO OUT OF MY WAY to use them.
