It turns out that the electrodes were slightly misaligned, causing a small accumulation of oil within my unit. Unfortunately to get to this resolution, it took a 1-star experience. A very unhelpful technician (1-star) came and went in less than 10 minutes, telling me he couldn't smell the odor so I'd "need a second opinion". I called back to SMO for further assistance. Tyrisha Monroe assisted me (5-stars!). Each time I called in, I spoke with Tyrisha. She was extremely courteous, understanding, and helpful. She immediately scheduled a more experienced technician to my case. Within a few hours, Reggie was at my door (5-stars++!). Reginald Morton has serviced our furnace in the past. He is extremely professional, wise in his trade, and a genuinely nice man whom I gladly welcome into my home. Reggie worked hard, trouble shot the issue, explained everything to me, then made sure the entire space was nice and clean before he left. I have always been impressed with Reggie's quality of work and kind demeanor. After today's experience, I requested that he be tagged as my preferred technician (I'm not sure if that's a thing, but I certainly hope it is!) --as long as all you Yelp readers don't start requesting him to the point that he is not available when I need him. ;D Well done SMO, you have two extremely professional employees who care about their work. They deserve your acknowledgement. In this day of so many people being more interested in themselves than their job, this was refreshing.

When I am trying a new project I can always ask them for their advice and it's sound and well-informed and well-reasoned. They have lots of different kinds of items. They put out free treats f kids and adults alike. I always look forward to visiting and seeing the same, familiar faces. it feels good to support a local mom and pop shop when there are other alternatives. I love going to Jim's.

They had forgotten! Once the rental items were delivered, they were filthy dirty with dry mud. The chairs were awful and disgusting. I had to wipe them off and it didn't do much. The rental items clearly needed a power wash but I was short on time as they were late delivering. The other issue I had was the chairs didn't all match. They are the same color and brand but are not the same style. I felt that I deserved some compensation and was only refunded my delivery fee. What a joke. I am so disappointed in Jim's and they have lost my business.

Recently, SMO billed me over $400 for a service (full hvac tune up) not requested nor performed. The technician and I signed a receipt stating his diagnosis and actual service performed which rounded out to $200. I asked the technician about making payment after the service and he stated that SMO would reach out to me about payment. Upon receiving the email. I contacted SMO concerned about the amount be because it was not the same as on the receipt I received 11/10/25. That's when I charged for a tune up. I requested to speak with a manage. In speaking with Devon, a customer care manage, he informed the amount stands until I prove it wasn't performed. I suggest you think twice before dealing with SMO because signed documentation means nothing to them, and you will find yourself having to go the legal route to remedy being scammed.
