So, first things first, this is not a review of Substance as a dispensary. I've never bought weed at Substance and, given the fact that I'm not a smoker, probably never will buy weed at Substance. But I am a coffee drinker. And Substance has a coffee shop set up as part of their operation, right next to their dispensary on Division. And Oh-Sweet-Jeezus, the Substance coffee shop brews up a great cup of java. All the baristas are good - really good, actually - but if you're lucky, Angela (the manager) will be behind the counter. Angela does a great pour over. Seriously, her pour overs are absolutely top notch. It's also possible that the weed is top notch. I wouldn't know. But the coffee? Dammmmmnnn good. read more

Honestly, this place was such a bummer. We went to Tokyo Starfish the day before and had a great experience, but we decided to pop into Substance to compare. We were in the market for thc-infused lube and saw the perfect product, it was $36 and even had a sticker that said it would be $40 other places in town. We grabbed the lube, asked for a 25 mg limeade, and made our way to the register. We inquired if they had any first time discounts - of course not. It was far from the end of the world, considering they marketed themselves as affordable. We left the store and right as we entered our car learned that we had been given the lemonade instead, no biggie but not ideal. Then we made our way back to Tokyo Starfish. The vibes were immaculate compared to Substance. Here, we bought flower because we could actually see and smell the product, and then we stumbled across the exact same thc lube, for $24. What an absolute tragedy. Overall, the false advertisement, bad customer service, and unappealing display of products will prevent us from returning again. Tokyo Starfish has our business. read more

Sometimes you can get what you're looking for with ease, and other times the bin/shelf label says it's an indica and it's actually a full on sativa. Once you buy it, under false pretenses it's one thing (indica) when it's the opposite (sativa), you cannot return it. Ask to see the physical containers label of what you're interested in buying before buying it. Buyer beware. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS COMMENT: This is the product that was purchased. The container clearly says sativa. The box that you have these Sitting in behind the glass window said "I" meaning indica. I am unclear how such a mistake could be made when this clearly says sativa right there on the front. In addition, I called the store once I got home and found out they sold this to me as something else and the entirely and the employee said yes, the label on the bin these sites in said Indica, and not sativa. And now I'm stuck with something I will not smoke. I do not want this crap. I would never buy this. Fix your store, and readdress your return policy. When it's the stores fault, or the employees fault directly like this time, you need to accept returns. This is extremely aggravating. read more

Been coming here for over a year now and have never had anything other than a great experience! I've gone to the other two locations as well, also great, but I especially like the people who work at the division location. All the staff is knowledgeable and will happily talk to you about any products they sell. Absolutely the best dispensary in Bend. I am a medical card holder, and they have the best deals for OMMP patients!! And the vibe from the staff is kind, relaxed and extremely helpful. I had an issue with my vape pen and new cartridges I purchased, and I went back the next morning, and they took my pen and my 2 new cartridges to the back to test, and he returned with all three items AND 2 new promo pens for me to keep! As a business owner myself and As a customer here at least every 3 days for over a year and a half, glad to say I will take my business elsewhere. This review is particularly only for "Mel" and the on duty manager on 10/10, not the other employees. Most of them are wonderful, but one bad apple can ruin the batch. Decided to do curbside pickup today when most the time I walk in. I put in my order over 15 minutes ahead of its designated time they set for you on dutchie. I'm usually a very patient person so considering they have specific times for your order to be picked up at, waiting 15 minutes was a little over the cusp even for me. It got to the point where I was the only car (besides workers) in the lot. So I got up, walk in, they usually are ready to greet you as you arrive. I walk in and mention quickly I had a curbside pick up and the girl (Mel) whom has the ticket in hand, says "uh I was just getting it right now-it was only put in 6 minutes ago" and I bluntly just said, I sent in my arrival 15 minutes ago, in which she insisted to show me when it came in on their end, so we both went to exchange our "proof". I said I'm sorry your machine is lagging but I sincerely clicked my arrival 15 minutes ago if you really wanna see again. Proof in hand. She proceeds to not quite roll her eyes, but the passive aggressive stance & stare. Proceed to ask for my ID, which I already had ready for her. Stares for atleast 15 seconds. Making her egotistical point very clear. So I said out loud, if you want you can just scan it, at this point it was obnoxious as she pulled her power card. She proceeded to say she doesn't have to do this and won't serve me, hence when I asked for her name. Then to just speak to her manager. As coworkers tend to stick together, we all know that in our own break rooms of our own careers. The "manager" on duty proceeds to tell me that I've escalated the issue after dealing with your passive aggressive employee when I had nothing but understanding to your personal busyness & lack of machine sending orders through. Keep in mind she's also yelling from the desk as I'm speaking to the "manager" in mid conversation, as he tells her to stop, proceeds to tel me I'm escalating the situation. I'm glad this is how businesses deal with their employees & business. Hey, misunderstandings happen! But as I said, happy to not bring my business back when there are plenty of clubs in the area. Mel is chronically rude/blunt every-time I walk in, not a very pleasant person to be around nor be served by in an industry like this. I promise, take your business elsewhere. read more
