This sandwich shop is by far one of the best in San Diego and my favorite hands-down. The service from this family owned establishment is always really good and professional. Everything from the bread and meat is fresh and so tasty. I've tried other things here before like the turkey, and Italian, but I my go to is the roast beef sandwich and it is perfect everytime. We tried some homemade pickles on this visit and those were really good too. This is the only place where you can have your sandwich later on or the next day and it's still just as good. I've never had a sandwich that I could eat as leftovers later on and this one is the exception. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I get the number 1 Dena's way on wheat with the garlic spread and holy cow it is awesome. The service is great, and the people are really friendly. I even got to meet Dena and tell her that I always get my sandwich made her way! While it saddens me to write this review, I'm frustrated that I spent a significant amount of money hoping to treat my family to a wonderful Sunday outing and remembered this place being yummy a few years ago. The turkey-provolone sandwich was minimal in terms of meat, cheese and *drenched* in mayo to the point that it was gag-worthy. The onion bread was slightly stale. The woman who took my order was clearly grouchy and rushed through my order. I didn't feel comfortable sitting down to eat with my family as she was clearly uptight about the 3pm closing time. I understand we all have rough days and times are hard. I'd love to give this place grace but for almost $50 for myself and my family, there wasn't much "bang for your buck." The macaroni salad was also drenched in mayo. It might be time to reevaluate the menu and attend to the food with more care, not to mention customer service. I won't be coming back or recommending this place to friends who live in the area. read more

Do not quote me on what exactly I ordered and what "toppings" name or concoction these ladies put together for us, but the point it..these ladies are making some delicious, hearty subs. We selected 6" tuna and 6" turkey and these were not your normal 6", I am telling you. Extremely FILLING! Maybe it was the bread, the toppings, the mix-in's, the meat?
