I first heard about Marvin Gardens Center after reading an article in a SoCal newspaper…read morehighlighting their work in reentry support, and I wanted to see for myself what made them stand out. What impressed me most is how organized and genuinely supportive the program feels. Marvin Gardens Center provides clear guidance, helpful resources, and a sense of structure that is incredibly important for people transitioning back into society. You can tell this is a place that takes its mission seriously. Director Carl Duron deserves special recognition. His leadership shows in how smoothly everything runs and in the respectful way people are treated. It is rare to see a director who is both hands on and truly invested in positive outcomes, but that is clearly the case here. The environment feels focused, calm, and purposeful. Whether someone is looking for transitional housing resources, work release information, or simply direction during reentry, Marvin Gardens Center provides real help rather than empty promises. After seeing the article and experiencing the center firsthand, it is easy to understand why they receive positive attention. Marvin Gardens Center is doing meaningful work for the community, and it shows.

She always felt safe (physically and emotionally) accepted and supported as a young trans woman dealing with recovery and emotional challenges. She (and I myself when visiting) really enjoyed the neighborhood and vibe. The people who run the place have a good heart and care about their residents. Communication was always clear, responses prompt in emergencies or addressing concerns, and what they provided was generous for the price. I believe Rainbow Hill played a big part in her progress, and I am grateful she got to spend time there.

I saw an 18 year-old trans kid be forced to leave within the week because their insurance failed and they didn't have the money to pay rent. The owners were as cheap as possible- refused to buy anything buy the bare essentials, all the while making a handsome sum off the PHP and sober living rent. Luckily my house manager at the time was wonderful, but I believe they are no longer there. I would be cautious, especially if you're moving from out of state to visit this facility, that they don't truly have your back and they are in it to get money out of you. Does not mean it can not be of major benefit in your life and I NEVER felt unsafe- most places are much worst. But it just sucks as really the only queer sober living that the focus from the owners at least seems to be purely on how much money can be made.

This experience will forever change how I trust. So the head women Roslyne, would not allow fiancé and I to leave to go to appointments we needed. During times we needed are scheduled medication. No one was available to give us medication that we brought in with us. they took are medication from us. And then we missed scheduled meds and got sick. Very unprofessional. We were seeking a sober living. this place advertises counseling help with job seeking. It does not it's a scam. they are trying to get money. It is a way for them to pay their bills. They wanted money right away. I told them over the phone my situation which was I was in Treatment seeking sober living. I hadn't had any work or any money. They assured me I could start working and pay later the very second day I woke up they asked for money. When I said I had none the women known as "sis" was mean mad I did not have money. We were starving. There is no food. they made us work for rent moving furniture from old tenants. Telling us she will work is someplace in he business. While working us, she would stand there and point and yelling where she wants items. While we're moving this she's talking about how ungrateful everyone how good for is y'all can't get things right she stated very verbally abusive. when you're coming from a place that we come from going into this was so scary when I asked to go to the Social Security office so I could take care of myself. She bullied me. She presented me with a fight and I only asked if I could go alone because I didn't feel comfortable with her she told me no and if I did go to the Social Security office, I was kicked out. I told her I had to go to this appointment. I went to my appointment came home and all of my belongings were outside. so I thought my $200 chi straightener was broken. Clothing of mine was not returned, and I only went with a few things. She kicked us out with no place to go and refuse to talk to us or respond to any text messages when I tried to make things right or even offer her money so that we were not on the street. Please be careful if you decide to go here.

I'm like wow! Really? A homeless shelter, I'm to say the least disappointed and terrified, I didn't need to come here and use up all my insurance benefits and kick me to the streets. I'm very disappointed and so stressed, instead of helping me I'm worse off mentally and scared to death of what I'm going to do. Save yourself the time if you are really desperate and need help go somewhere else because the only thing you'll get here is all your insurance benefits getting used up , Here these people only care about milking your insurance dry and then sending you to a homeless shelter with no insurance benefits left for Rehab. I'm seriously considering reporting this place. Think about that is I have no idea where I report them to.
