We REALLY wanted to like this place!! We saw it on shark tank and decided if we ever have one near us, we've got to take the kids. What a great concept. We looked on the website and found this one in Sarasota. Two weeks later, we're here for a wrestling tournament and drove 35 minutes from our hotel just to try Subzero... What a major let down!! The ice cream is served rock hard. Not sure if its the kids they hire not making it correctly, or if its supposed to be rock hard with ice flakes throughout, but either way- complete disappointment. We had 2 adults and 4 kids and spent $38 on ice cream. Worst of all, out of our group of 6, 3 of us ended up throwing our ice cream in the trash. read more

This place was such a fun take to ice cream. I have never seen anything like it before. Your ice cream starts as liquid/cream, you add whatever toppings you choose or you can select one of their options, they add the nitrogen and then voila! It is some of the creamiest ice cream I have ever tasted. I loved the variety they offered and the experience itself was so fun. The employees are mostly young people who are friendly, energetic and very knowledgeable about their product. You can choose no sugar added and vegan. Really cool concept however missed the mark with the product. I had the "lactose free" base with cotton candy (love sweets), unfortunately this was everything but. It tasted like I was eating a cold vanilla wafer. It was gritty & gross. My date had a premixed concoction that was a fudge mint and thinking because it was made with milk it wpuld be better - it was worse. The employees had great smiles however lacked couth and the ability to carry a conversation. read more

I was so excited to try SubZero and then extremely let down. I tried the yogurt base with chocolate flavoring added to it. The chocolate had NO flavor. Well I guess if you count icy as a flavor then it did indeed have that going for it. Sub Zero offers an innovative, flavorful. and unique take on the standard frozen yogurt formula. Although it appears gimmicky at first, the ice cream and yogurt are first rate. You have unlimited flexibility to choose the milk base (creamy, yogurty, smooth, etc) and all of the flavors. Your concoction is then mixed together and frozen with the help of liquid nitrogen. The process is entertaining and will definitely entrance children. The finished product is light, flavorful, and not overly salty/sugary like other frozen yogurt chains. While Sub Zero has an excellent, five star product, I have to deduct points for the price and location. It is about 15-20% more expensive than similar competitors and located on distant Clark Road. If you're willing to make the trip, you won't be disappointed. read more

So being lactose intolerant you have to pick you battles and this one was worth fighting. They are located just off the main street and we didn't know what it was until we got curious what was down the side street. It is not as busy as the main competitor in town, but I think that all has to do with location. We walked in not intending on getting icecream, just wanting to check it out. We realized we had seen this place on Shark Tank so naturally we had to try it. They make the icecream right before your eyes and the possible combinations are endless. It is a cool process to watch and the end product was very good. She got the birthday cake and wasn't happy with how the batter sort of becomes crystalized, but I liked that it was different. What an awesome place! Today was our first visit and it was a "blast" of originality and liquid nitrogen. I got the chocolate brownie bites with cinnamon and yogurt - an "employee pick" and it was scrumptious...smoother than Yogurtology. The whole process was fun and watching the liquid nitrogen flow and create my selection was cool. The employees were nice and pleasant. More reasonably priced than Cold Stone. I was somewhat suspicious of nitrogen in my ice cream. I know it's good in soil for my crops but not usually in my dessert. But it was cool. They even had an almond milk version. The person working today got a bit sullen when she started an ice cream (which my child cannot eat bc of food allergies) and we realized we forgot to say frozen yogurt (which my child can eat).
