8/10 good stuff eaten here a ton as it's a very short distance to travel. service is nice, they show you their process of making the ice cream itself which is a unique feature. their brand of nitrogen ice cream is very novel among ice cream places located in sarasota and its quite good, as it has a very wide selection of flavors, toppings, and even bases. the ice cream itself is delicious as well. only real complaint is that due to it being flash frozen it has quite the "icy" feel; it's akin to getting your tongue stuck to a metal pole in the northern winter. this is really just a nitpick on my part however and i do recommend trying this establishment if you can. read more

We hosted a group of 14-year-old girls at Sub Zero Ice Cream, and the visit was a big hit. The kids got to choose their ice cream base. They went with the original cream which was rich and delicious. Each of them selected different flavors and came up with fun, creative combinations. If I had ordered for myself, I would have picked all chocolate, and their creations looked great to me. Afterward, they added mix-ins like Oreos, candy, and nuts, and then froze everything with liquid nitrogen. Watching the white fog fill in the counter in front of us was really entertaining, and the kids loved the whole experience. Most importantly, they said their ice cream was delicious. This is definitely a great spot for a unique, entertaining dessert for kids and adults. read more

The ice crème was great! Not only do you get ice crème, but you get a show! They put the bowl together (what you chose) and then they mix it with nitrogen! The workers were really nice and it was very clean inside. I got a create you own. It was great! read more

Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream - The create your own: Regular size, Original custard, mint and dark chocolate ice cream, with Oreos on top - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

It's a fun ice cream experience. They make instant ice cream in front of you. There are a ton of flavors to choose from to build your own or go with one of their creations off the menu. I went with the peanut butter and it was delicious! My kids were all about the cotton candy flavor. Note, there are plenty of seats inside so bring the whole family! read more

We got a coupon to come here from my child's school, so I took all 3 kids. The owner was working and he and his staff member were so nice. The price is fairly comparable to other ice cream shops but the flavor combos are unlimited which is pretty cool. The ice cream is made fresh while you watch. The restaurant is also super clean and you can tell they practice careful hygiene practices that would make this safe for people with allergies too. read more

We had an awesome experience here. Zero was a concept that was introduced on Shark Tank and there are two locations in the area, one in Siesta Key Village and one off Clark Rd. The staff was fantastic, they took time to talk to us and explain everything with a positive attitude and smile. We enjoyed our ice creams and the atmosphere. thanks, Sub Zero, we will be back! read more

Great ice cream!!! Very creamy The experience is awesome! If you have kids they will love this.

Friendly service, clean environment, and yummy ice cream! Thank you so much, will come again 10/10 recommend, especially if you're craving something sweet read more

Pretty good ice cream. Definitely a cool process to watch, and the staff explain how they are making the ice cream along the way. There are tons of options to choose from, in order to customize your creation. For the ice cream base, there are original, low fat, custard, and dairy-free options, although each is a pre-made mix that the store purchases from a supplier, so they couldn't really tell me the difference between original and low fat. The staff recommended original to me. Then there are many ice cream flavors to choose from, and toppings to mix in as well. The ice cream can get pricey quickly because the base price only includes your first mix-in (additional ones are 75 cents each). I opted for a mocha ice cream with brownie bites and almond pieces. The ice cream was pretty good, but the brownie bites were terrible - large chunks of chewy tastelessness. Next time I'll skip those. Overall, the ice cream doesn't have the creaminess you might get from an artisan ice cream shop, but you do get to customize your ice cream just the way you want it. read more

Good gas ice cream. It's very creamy and I like the ambiance and good service. Really tasty

This is the best ice cream I have ever had better ice cream. The experience is great and the ice cream is greater if you're in the area you need to go. read more

The concept of this is very cool and fun to watch. The staff was very polite. I saw other reviews where customers said the process was explained to them. That was not the case for us so it was a little confusing. The one thing I really liked about the choices were that there were different ice cream types such as low fat, gluten free, fat free, and others. I am adding a picture of the menu so you can see the different options. The ice cream tasted like any other ice cream. You are limited to one topping coming with your choice though so others are extra. In this regard, I prefer Cold Stones where multiple items are allowed to make certain flavors. There is a good amount of seating inside, and some extra tables outside. This is a fun option for kids to watch the ice cream be made as there is a small step they can stand on to watch if they are smaller.. read more

5 star experience. Great dairy free options. Fun experience especially with kids! Very dietary friendly.

It is very cool to see liquid nitrogen, evaporate. But that's it. It's impossible to sample the flavors, and the ice cream is just average. Except that it's overpriced. read more

I love frozen nitrogen ice cream, and it's hard to find. Sub Zero is really fabulous. Great texture and flavor!

We had never had this type of ice cream and it was really good. My husband ordered his own mix with mango and other toppings and it was good. I likes that the toppings looked fresh. They also have favorites that you can get and thats what I ordered. Sensation it was called, it has peanut butter, and it was delicious. Also what is to note here is that they cater to all dietary restrictions which was nice. read more

Flash freeze ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Saw this on TV and wanted to try it. The best part is the amount of options including custard, no sugar, lactose free, vegan, and gluten free ice cream. During December it probably isn't the best time for ice cream but I imagine this place is amazing during the blazing summers. Best part was the vegan options and the owner came up to make sure our almond milk ice cream was acceptable for vegans. His wife is a vegan advocate and that's cool in my book. Good experience but not sure the next time we'll be back. read more

Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream - Strawberry Vegan - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

Absolutely love the concept at Subzero! It's so simple and freshest tasting ice cream I've ever had. Saw this on Shark Tank first and wondered if it is gimmicky or works. Upon hearing we were first timers, the very patient server explained the process. You pick your liquid, ice cream, custard, yogurt, almond milk ( vegan) or lactose free. I chose the almond and was extremely satisfied. Next, you choose a flavor, or two. So many options! Then you choose your mix ins, candy, nuts, fruit etc. And next you watch the magic happen right before your eyes. For you chemistry geeks, it's really about the science in how liquid nitrogen freezes the liquid into ice cream in about 15 seconds. For those who don't want to customize, they have already created tried and true options. Yumminess is what happens. They also have smoothies and shakes. My daughter loved her strawberry smoothie. The owner told us that he owns this one, located on Clark rd in Sarasota and the siesta key location. Another one will be coming to Fort Myers soon. None in Tampa as of yet, but highly recommend stopping by when in the area for your cup or waffle cone of deliciousness! Final verdict, it works!! read more

Cryogenic Ice Cream that would make Ted Williams envious. Ok--the process is cool. You start with liquid, get a shot of Nitrogen, lots of smoke and mirrors, and voila; ice cream! Bottom line; it comes down to the taste. It's just ok, hence the 3 star. The prices are very reasonable too (on the cheap side for the amount you receive). The large is beyond large, and I can eat, believe me, and this was too much for me. Overall, I'll be back to bring guests to see the magic moreso, than strictly for the ice cream. read more

This place is THE schnizzle. Not the schnizzle......THE schnizzle !!!!! First of all, it does not get any fresher than this. It is literally frozen right in front of you!!!! You choose the liquid (premium ice cream, custard, low fat ice cream, yogurt (fat free), almond (dairy free/vegan), no sugar added and finally lactose free. Then you choose your flavor (50+ choices) Then you pick out your mix (fruit/nuts/etc) Then it is frozen into ice cream form under a shower of liquid nitrogen. Very clean place. Very friendly and patient staff. There is literally something for everyone here. Kids go crazy when the product gets frozen as there is a big cloud of smoke and hissing sound. I like ice cream. I like custard. I like frozen yogurt. This place has it all in one place. I very highly recommend SubZero. read more

Terrible service and bad attitudes , there was no experience behind it just paid way to much for ice cream . When We walked in they were playing rap music talking about ass and p***y and after being inside for about 45 sec they realized we were there with children and turned it off . We were then asked if she needed to do her job by telling us what goes on there . After getting our ice cream and another family getting theirs they turned back on the awful rapper of pop smoke loudly and told us because of covid we had to leave ..... again no biggie if we have to leave because of covid but this was after they allowed us to sit there for 20 min . read more

We loved this place! The staff and owner were delightful and there was an entire vegan menu with dozens of choices! My daughter got the bubblegum ice cream and I got the peanut butter with chocolate chips. Both with the almond milk base. Even the smallest portion was a bit large for me, and the medium for my daughter was huge! Next time we'll split a small! We will be back. P. S. I almost gave this place 5 stars, but generally save that for all-veg spots. But overall, these guys rock! Very cool to have this super vegan friendly ice cream option, and I'm sure the kiddo would have given it 5 stars! read more

God, am I a sucker for ice cream or what? When I heard about this place I just knew I had to get here as soon as I possibly could. What a great decision that was. The staff was pretty friendly, and the one lady who assisted me was helpful with explaining how to order around an allergy. She also responded positively when I asked what I might be able to order for my dog since I just wanted plain yogurt frozen for her. The ice cream was delicious! The way it's made in front of you is awesome and appealing to the eye, but it's really just ice cream one way or another. This just so happens to be really good ice cream. You have a multitude of options available to you to choose from. I'm not just talking flavors either. You can choose what type of cream to start with, the flavors, the size, cup or cone, toppings (though rather limited), and whether to create your own or choose one of their suggested pre made favorites. It's definitely pricey, but it's plenty worth the experience. read more

A cool concept no doubt. Kids really like it when the liquid nitrogen hits the ingredients creating that cloud of steam. It's not just for the kids though. Adults will enjoy the end product. It tasted just as good as churned ice cream. There are many ingredients to choose from to have mixed in with your ice cream base, and you choose the type of ice cream base that you want. That's something not offered at a lot of places. You can get your traditional ice cream base, or you can go lactose free, sugar free, gluten free, or even vegan. Yes vegan, it's made with almond milk. They offer a yogurt base as well, along with shakes, floats, shaved ice, and something called nitro coffee. I left without asking what the coffee was all about, but there's always the next time. The space was bright and clean. A nice place to sit and enjoy your creation. Service was good also.
