My wife and I visited Sub Zero on a Wednesday night. One couple was there when we arrived, but by the time our ice cream was finished it was just us. The place has a good layout, with ice-cream themed decor and plenty of seating. The main area did have a wall stacked with dozens of boxes and a ladder in public view which could have been hidden away, but it was still comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful in explaining the process to us newcomers. You start with a size of small, regular or large (the small is pretty big, as it should be for the price) and a base (Original, Custard, Low-fat, No Sugar Added, Lactose Free, Yogurt (fat free) and Coconut (vegan). My wife chose the coconut as she is trying to limit Diary and I went with the original, both of us ordering a small. You can then choose one of their 12 pre-set menu items like the Chocolate Conduction or Strawberry Sigma which were the two my wife and I chose, or you can pick your own flavor (about 30 options) and Mix-in about 15 options or another apx 20 sweets like Cookie dough or Twix. My wife's strawberry was lovely, and mine was a bit rich, which I expected based on the ingredients. From here, they add the base and ingredients into a bowl, stir it up, turn non the nitrogen and you watch the worker mix it up for a few minutes. And the final product is some really nice tasting ice cream, made to your taste or diary preferences which are infante. The downside, it's expensive in my opinion. For two small ice creams, a bottle of water and the expected tip during checkout, it was $25.75. As much as I liked it, this will limit my coming back. It's novel and tastes good, but you are paying for the entertainment value which is also a drawback in that it's slow. Some ice cream places have a spout of free cold water on the counter and available to customers, which would be a nice touch considering the price point, saving me a few dollars of needing to buy a water, I think it's worth trying out if your pocketbook can accommodate. read more

We tried this ice cream place for the first time on a very hot summer day when it was 109 degrees outside! So it was refreshing to have ice cream. The place inside is nice and clean and they make fresh ice cream in front of you using nitrogen gas. They have many different options to pick from and you can customize everything. We went with small waffle cup with pistachio ice cream, coconut milk as the cream base, and then I added some more nuts like walnuts, pecans, and others into the mix. Now as for the ice cream taste, it does taste a little different than your typical ice cream. It's less creamy in taste and the texture of the ice cream is lighter than your typical ice cream. Personally, I enjoyed it. It doesn't make your feel too full. But if you are looking for a rich creamy taste then you can pick a different cream base and see how that turns out for you. This is an amazing experience for kids. You get to pick one of the pre-made "sensation" desserts or you get to make your own. They have tons of flavors and mix-ins. They also have coconut milk for those with a dairy allergy (vegans too!). They do an excellent job with avoiding cross contamination, which I appreciate since my daughter has a mean dairy allergy. Is 0 stars an option??? Not worth the $26 we spent for 4 SMALL ice creams. Staff messed up the order (we ordered just peach with fresh peaches and they gave us peach with hot fudge no fresh peaches). When we first asked them to redo it the teenage guy making the order said "can't you just eat it" and when we repeated that we wanted it redone, he took it back to redo it. Then some older lady said just give it to them and the guy tried to force us to just eat the ice cream he made wrong. He eventually remade it but it is not right that they originally refused to remake it even though they admired it was their mistake. Just came back from Subzero . In serving out one of our 2 ice creams the metal scoop broke into several pieces. The girl making it said she would remake it. Her father the owner overrode her and said there were NO metal pieces in the confection. I guess he was formerly a metallurgist and knows how metal scoops react when frozen over and over from nitrogen and they break only break into the pieces you can see.
