Claire did my consultation and even though I wasn't sure how to explain what I was looking for, she knew exactly what I was looking for. She made me feel comfortable and confident in my upcoming appointment. Columbia does not have many noteworthy spa locations so my fingers and toes were crossed for OCCO and they did not disappoint. All the staff I interacted with was really lovely. I had a less than 10 minute wait time for my services and the teams hand walked me between professional which was really lovely. They even carried my stuff, just that golden touch! I went on a Monday night, during the time of Covid. Highly recommend. Fantastic service and zero wait time. Both massage therapist and cosmetologist were not talkative and I was actually able to relax. Lovely little waiting room with treats and drinks. It was winter but it looks like they are mindful and provided lots of seasonal items as well. The pedicure/manicure area also looked lovely, even though I did not use this service. I would come back for it though. They have a card on file and it makes it so much easier at check out when all you want to do is relax and not have to dig in your purse. I'd been struggling to find a decent hairdresser in Berlin that didn't cost a fortune so I made an appointment when I came home to see my mother. My hair was in horrible condition from trying different horrible salons and finally giving up and trying to dye my hair myself. I really appreciated the honesty from Wendy and her suggestions for what I could do with it without completely destroying it with bleach. I left happy and with much better looking hair. Corrective color is not cheap, but I don't want someone doing a cheap job on my hair again. The cost was reasonable and much cheaper than I paid for professional color in other US and European cities. I'll make an appointment every time I come home to see my family now.

I have been going to Artana (owner) for manny years. My haircut was suggested from a guy in 1975…read morebut I was not ready to go from really long hair to above shoulder length. However, when I told Artana about the cut in 2000, she followed through. It has been the best haircut I've ever had. Sometimes I let it grow a bit longer but it still works well. The drawback in recommending Sheer Expectations is that they don't take many new clients right now. It's mostly Artana and her sisters that do it all.

I did give the place a try after she left and was able to get a cut from the owner, who was a great person and had just wrapped up a really nice cut on the customer before me. Unfortunately, his approach doesn't quite work for my wash-and-go curly hair (I add some product, but am too low maintenance/sleep in too much in the morning to have time and energy to do anything more). I really enjoyed the experience and like their new location off Main St, but I will probably try to find a new place that can accomodate me and my curls a bit better.
