I'm new to waxing, so at first I wasn't sure whether what happened was normal, but after talking with my wife afterward, it sounds like it was not. During my first visit, after the waxing was completed, my back was wiped down and some type of soothing cream was applied. This time, the moment the final strip was removed, the technician immediately walked out saying, "I'll see you at the front." There was no cleanup, no wipe down, and no aftercare product applied at all. I had to put my shirt back on over a raw, sticky back, which was pretty uncomfortable. Additionally, the wax/oil felt significantly hotter than during my first appointment. For a service that ends up costing around $100 with tip, I expected a bit more of a spa-like experience and consistency. To be fair, this place receives very good reviews overall, so maybe this was just an off experience. I even wondered afterward if I had somehow offended the esthetician, though I can't imagine how since I'm not much of a talker. They seemed perfectly fine when checking me out and even scheduled me for another appointment in 4 weeks, so I'm honestly just trying to make sense of the difference between visits. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that I won't be returning.

Jana suggested a long time ago to get gel instead of regular polish and the techs do let you know when something you chose hasn't had good results. I appreciate them for doing so, but also maybe throw it away? lol They used to have a hard time saying "no" but as a regular I can scan the room and tell wether or not I'd be squeezed in. This place is really appointment only unless they're having a slow day. FYI: If you're a walk in and the say they have time but you see 5 people waiting and 3 techs, you should go about your day. With any salon, ALWAYS ASK PRICE BEFORE WORK IS COMPLETE and stop being afraid to say you don't like something.

I had to re-iterate four times that I only wanted clear gel, nothing more. The Pedicure itself was wonderful, even if they gave me an upservice I didn't ask or want. The older gentleman who was my tech then tried to get me out, and was very upset that I asked for the Mani part of the Mani/Pedi appointment. I provided him with nail color and a visual of what I wanted (Nude matte nail in a softer rounded almond shape). For reference, I had medium length natural nails. He then cut me square and to the quick in the fastest way possible. The polish was a decent match, but streaky and lumpy and wasn't cured properly. I was left with jagged edges along the nail , and bits of polish everywhere. The matte finish wasn't placed properly with chunks of shine everywhere. In the end, it looked nothing like what I requested. Then, I was charged for a full price Manicure but only provided with a gel polish change. Overall I spent $107 for a partially completed Manicure and a decent pedicure. I will not be going back. If I could, I would have refused payment or asked for a partial refund. The work was shoddy, rushed and I had to keep telling the tech multiple times what I wanted, even after providing a very good visual.

I was in Burlington for the morning anyway and knew it was impossible to find an opening at a Bellingham salon on a Friday. I booked an appt the night before through vagaro.com, which was really handy! This place is lovely, nicely laid out, and busy but organized. I got a wonderful shampoo, haircut, and style from Julie, who took lots of time looking at photos and making sure she knew just what I wanted. Someone passed out chocolate chip cookies which were delicious! The feel of the salon is professional and sleek but also relaxed and fun, and all their products smell amazing. My one very small complaint (and feedback to the owner) is that there is a subtle smell of old urine in the salon. I recognized it from my days working in an assisted living facility, and then realized that most of the other clients were elderly women. I think the odor of someone's incontinence may have seeped it's way into a chair or two! DON"T let this prevent you from going to the salon though. It was a great experience, I got a great cut, and it didn't break the bank like a haircut in Bellingham would! Highly recommended and will definitely go back!

I skip a couple things as I don't like the cuticles cut and don't want the sanding down. I love the soak, massage scrub, lotion and they do a perfect job on trimming and polish. I think it may be a little extra for callous removal, which I got the first time. Salon atmosphere is nice, staff is generally nice...I will keep coming back for the price and the lovely job on my toes.

The male nail tech literally threw his hands in the air and said it was "up to me" when I asked for his opinion on whether my nails were grown out enough to warrant a fill. The rest of the appointment had such a bad vibe after that. He caused several cuts around my nail and almost broke skin with a nail filer.
